  1. Why on earth would you do something like that? Even if it didn't pass the panel outright, it could still have passed album eval. That was a pretty interesting and rocking interpretation of the source imho. Not a nice gesture toward Kuolema who's been working to get this tribute together. But that's your call.
  2. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing it right: An awesome birthday to two awesome people.
  3. @dannthr: sir, you've worded this better than I ever could (at my modest level of course). Composing melodies is what gives (gave) me the most enjoyment. Mixing/nitpicking, not so much. Many ideas and inspiration were lost to me in the quest of improving production values. Balancing all these elements while keeping sight of the objective is truly a daunting task. Everyone pretty much has their own journey to experience and summits to climb. There's always gonna be someone who can do better in less time and with less effort. The most important/hardest thing imho is to avoid getting discouraged and loose your passion.
  4. Ian Stocker - Tubeworqs Funk (from Monster Tale original soundtrack) Everyone whith a love for old school games should definitely check this little gem for the DS. It's a love letter to Metroid, Castlevania, Megaman and Wonderboy in Monster Land. All that while featuring an awesome and eclectic soundtrack to boot.
  5. Well, now we know which direction the coin is gonna flip toward. Don't worry, it's fitting nicely now. Thanks for taking the time to do this. @Superior X: list edited with more picks, per your request.
  6. 1. Dragon Road/Chun Nan Day (Sonic Unleashed) 2. Underground Zone (Sonic 2 GG) 3. Cool Edge/Holoska Night (Sonic Unleashed) 4. Sky High Zone (Sonic 2 GG) 5. Aqua Lake Zone (Sonic 2 GG) EDIT1: fair enough Mr X. I've added four more tracks for principle. EDIT2: allright Mr X. I've updated the list with the latest picks. @PixelPanic: sig limit is 250px height, but yours is 312px, potentially turning any thread into a gallery. You can put banners side-by-side to save space or simply adjust them in height to fit under the limit. Please be considerate of others looking through this thread. Thanks.
  7. Was gonna post about this, nice timing. Very insightful interviews, especially regarding the overall creative process and team work. Well worth watching if you're interested in how a modern triple-A game score comes to life.
  8. http://vimeo.com/26786498 Let's see what you got Stuart Little.
  9. Gario, the direct link is in plain view in the OP: Just click on the link, and save the whole .rar archive to your comp. Done!
  10. ^ This. It's gonna be a massacre. And he'll most likely drop some acid on the SH HD Collection too.
  11. John? Will? Anyone? The BC project has been on a hiatus for over 6 months now. Just, please don't let this project die like that.
  12. Not to be confused with: not the real deal. Not sure if n0c is aware of that one. What's the occasion btw? Did OCAD switch to Arecibo or something? O_o
  13. Yep, just like the login system, the various wip sections and other wonky pages. ThaSauce in itself has been in a work-in-progress state since the layout switch. But yeah, this is good news for those who were craving for the VGmix days.
  14. Woah! I'm really glad to have checked this thread despite not being familiar with that game/serie at all. At first this looked like it was gonna be another guitar-hero-style game, but then the course began... A really cool and refreshing concept imho, that seems to be equally fun and challenging. And the music. The music is awesome. Crazy in its own way, but this has literally opened new horizons for me. Alas, I'm not nearly skilled enough to remix any of those songs. But I thank you for sharing your love of this game. I'll definitely be giving AS:LT a shot.
  15. Please try to include source links whenever making requests. It helps a lot, especially for games as obscure as Hagane. Anyway, here's a link to the source (with gameplay): Hagane is a cool mix of Shinobi, Strider and Skyblazer, with an interesting asian-folk influenced soundtrack. Stage1-1, Stage 2-2 and Stage 4-1 have a lot of potential for remixing as well.
  16. Fair enough sir. Not what I was after, but it will do. BS has a point on this one. Star Ocean or even Valkyrie Profile will most likely get you more hits than Baten Kaitos. Also, people will be more inclined to see the end of this journey if they've already worked with you on games they know/love.
  17. Hey Mirb! Fyi these tracks are not the themes of Cid for the respective two FFT games: The correct Cid's themes are: Thunder God Cid's Theme (FFT) and Cid (FFTA2). When you're not sure, a quick search on VGMdb is generally the way to go. PS: once I've made enough progress with my FFXII Cid theme, and if no one has picked them, I'll be more than willing to arrange both.
  18. Yeah, I get where you're coming from. Sometimes the inspiration can get lost in the obsessive pursuit of production values. That's why it's always good to try and have as much fun with the source as one can, before doing anything else. The soundtrack of RagnaCenty has been in loop since yesterday and the 'Boss Battle' theme is crawling its way into my mind ...among the 3000 others songs I want or need to remix. Life's too short! Anyway, if you ever wanna collab on a tune from the game, hit me up. Nos vemos.
  19. Oh, the irony. Right after I've talked with SwordBreaker to help refocus his project, King Bahamut lauches Mega Flare and crashes the Highwind. Seriously though Wes, this actually surprised me since you were supportive of SBP at its inception. And DH was much more obscure than Baten Kaitos. That being said, I fully understand there's a world of difference between official projects and regular ones. Still, it's weird that you're recommending SwordBreaker stray away from his idea and opt for a "free-for-all" instead. I mean, cause the guidelines discourage making a collection of songs, in favor of coming up with a clearly defined concept. So unless there was a recent change of policy, this implies that projects about non-mainstream games shouldn't be attempted. Could you or someone from the staff shed some light on that sensible matter. That would be much appreciated.
  20. Either the day has come for a Rockman EXE remix album, or it's finally time for the Grand NetNavi Remix Battle to begin.
  21. ^ This. ^ and very much this. Glaciers Never Sleep was also the stuff of legends. Here are the remixes in question for anyone wondering: Okami | Metroid Prime Now for the FFVI one... wow! Pretty inspiring stuff to say the least. Source is used plentifully and arranged in a nice and intricate way. Percussion work is up there, and the piece oozes with atmosphere. Absolutely loved the whole asian/ethnic vibe you've given to the original. This really sounds like a theme straight out of a japanese anime, or a badass adventure movie musha-shugyō style. And of course that wouldn't be one of your remixes without the abrupt-Robotaki-ending-that-leaves-you-begging-for-moar. Just hope you won't leave the OCR folks begging for 3 years this time. ;P Looking forward to all your awesome remixes being finished, subbed and posted.
  22. More Ragnacenty is always welcome. I remember that cool remix of Training Grounds you did a while back. This game's soundtrack has so much potential for remixing. I'll tackle that one someday for sure. This new mix of yours stays fairly true to , but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's more or less an upgrade of the original with updated textures and a few new twists thrown into the mix. Once again, you've really captured the feel of the game and the piece has this truly nostalgic flair to it. This is also slightly more upbeat and engrossing, though my only crit is that it could have been a bit longer. Thanks for sharing and I hope you'll do some more arrangement in the future.
  23. Glad to see some love for Parasite Eve around these parts. Kyrie is undoubtely one of the hardest song to remix in the entire soundtrack. The melodic content is sparse since slow strings and operatic vowels carry all the emotion. Hewhoisiam already gave you some great feedback, so I'm just gonna add a few things. Mostly, the piece could really benefit from the inclusion of some percussive elements. And not necessarily in a traditional orchestral fashion but in a modern/cinematic way. There are some interesting ideas in this remix, but it's essentially still too monotonic atm. Adding up instruments as suggested will go a long way to reinforce the bulk of the soundscape. Some subtle background ambient sound effects would also give the overall sound a little more depth. Samples can always be replaced later, but I do feel the arrangement itself could be expanded and fleshed out. It's a promising start. Good luck with this one.
  24. Judging from the game's website, it looks like a blend of RTS/T-RPG with space/sci-fi characters in a semi-medieval/fantasy setting. Sound-design is gonna be tricky on that one. Good luck to whoever will be scoring it.
  25. Here are two awesome Rockman Exe remixes by NintenJoe64: 3rd Strike (BN3) and Arrival of the Hero (BN6). Had plans to remix the for ages, but haven't found the time yet.Hopefully I'll get to it later this year (fingers crossed).
