OCR02838 - Final Fantasy Type-0 "Gods and Crystals"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The arrangement kinda sounds like the inner workings of a giant clock at various parts to me, if that makes any sense. That beings said, I love this. Mallets sound pretty cool here. Very interesting ReMix to say the least. One of the best atmospheric tunes I've heard in the while. -
OCR02837 - Final Fantasy X "Al Bhed Ec Faent"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I love FFX's Cid the most, actually. Great to see the Al Bhed patriarch getting some happy, upbeat and simply enjoyable love from this fun little ReMix. Not bad. -
OCR02836 - Final Fantasy VI "Experiments of a Fiend"

If I was an engineer (or any kind of mechanical worker at all), I would certainly use this as my theme. Has the perfect kind of working factory or lab sound, and of course I did the thunder sound at the end. One of the best tracks on the album, good work DjjD! -
OCR00137 - Super Mario 64 "Liquid Mario"
Crulex replied to Jivemaster's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Heh, sorry, but the story behind this mixpost (and the mixup) is funny to me. But for the actual song, honestly, it's classic McVaffe. What is there to not like about this ReMix? A bit straightforward, but the quality has held up a hell of a lot better than other ReMixes that aren't as old as this one, so for a ReMix from way back when, this is still pretty good. Way to go McVaffe. -
OCR02518 - Wild Arms "I'm a Force of Nature"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is my kind of rocking metal ReMix, with a strong lead and an even more aggressive background while the drums help telegraph the kicks. Would definitely make for a perfect workout track. Loved the slow intro build with the melody making appearances over the top before this opens up like a crack of lightning. About as epic as hard rock can get. Think I'll be adding this one to my MP3 for sure. -
OCR02835 - Chrono Trigger "Echoes of the Forest"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Aw, yeah, loving the nature sounds in the background that pop up every now and then. Awesome cello and chiptune combination as well. Nice to hear the cello break out for a moment. Fantastic ReMix. -
And this is why DrumUltima is DrumUltima. Because no one is more Ultima with Drums than DrumUltima. Come on, he's the Ultima. But seriously, amazing percussion work in this ReMix and this sets up that kind of African Savannah/ Prehistoric wasteland kind of vibe to me perfectly. I'd be thrilled to hear this kind of quality in any game or movie any day. Damn, this is good stuff. As for the title (brilliant by the way), this is a good chance to exercise a little thing we call "not taking every little thing so seriously". Life is better with humor and laughter than with anger.

OCR02520 - Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker "Full Mast"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Thirty seconds into this ReMix, and this vessel takes off like a rocket into the sea! This entire ReMix is like a five and a half moment voyage into pure metal rocking bliss. I think this is actually some of Virt and Snappleman's best work, but when you put two talented folks together, the results speak for themselves. Such a badass ReMix! -
OCR02521 - Castlevania "Children of the Wicked"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
It's like you took Wicked Child and turned it up to an eleven and going all out on it. Loved how you slowed down a little halfway through the ReMix before going back into the harder edge again. Nice one. -
Happy belated Birthday!

OCR02522 - Super Mario World "Through the Castle"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The dubstep-like variations and glitching up of the melody makes this arrangement interesting to listen to. Rockos did a fine job of reworking the source into something different while keeping the dark spirit of the castles intact, which is great. Not bad for a debut mixpost. -
OCR02523 - Silent Hill 2 "Where the Demon Sleeps"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Haunting is definitely the best way to describe this ReMix. Kate's voice and the piano that goes with this song is incredible and spooky for sure. Very nice! -
Happy birthday Emunator!

OCR02833 - Mega Man Battle Network 3 "Network Is Searching"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The only thing better than a regular piano? An electric piano! Slick like crystal and full of classic Mega Man style energy, I'm totally digging this. Great vocal bits as well. -
Happy birthday, man!

OCR02832 - Shadow of the Colossus "Trico Flies"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Damn, man! This is pure cinematic orchestra at it's best! You nailed this one! -
OCR02831 - Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory "The Friendly Shadows"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Between the glitching and the weird dnb/jazz mix up going on, this is fit for a game with the subtitle Chaos Theory indeed. Fun track to listen to. Well done, man. -
Happy Flexday, man! Have a good one!

OCR02829 - Mega Man 9 "Mega Blocked"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Man, this is fun to listen to. Pretty cool to here that guitar come in over top of the background low-fi sounding arrangement. Not much really to say beyond that except that this pretty sweet and between the guitar, the drums, and everything else, this ReMix pulled a lot together for a great song. -
OCR01017 - Final Fantasy X "The Final Summoning"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Okay, so a beefed up, harder-edged Song of Prayer is my kind of ReMix. Song of Prayer was a beautiful source and to give it an extra bit of rock and energy while adding in the original voices is awesome to me. I would have loved for this to have been playing during the Sin battle on the ship, considering that the whole Spira world was supposed to be singing at that point in the story. Nice ReMix, gents. -
OCR00684 - Metal Gear "Uh Oh! The Beat Have Started to Move!"
Crulex replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Mmmm, well, I can't say this holds up quite that well compared to other older ReMixes I've heard, but it's not like it's horrible or anything like that. I probably would have loved this ten years ago, but right now, at least the transistions are done in a way that shows that this had work put into it, and I can respect that. Not a terrible ReMix at all, but not a favorite. -
Happy birthday to you both!

OCR02828 - Metroid Prime 2 "Bogged Down"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Dude, this freaking rocks hard. From that intro, which comes back later on, to the powerful aggressive guitars that glide along the sweet tempo you set for it and the switching of instruments (especially those woodwinds and the piano), man, this is definitely my favorite ReMix from you yet. So recommended.
