  1. Holy crap dude, those were so hard to get gold on. Respect for this one! Things I've done but won't ever do again are the GTA IV "Liberty City Minute" achievement - blazed through the game in about 8 hours, or was it 6? I don't care, I got the G's for that. CoD 4 - The epilogue in the plane. 1 minute is such a hard time, although it was actually the most fun level on veteran. The others were just pointlessly and annoyingly hard for the sake of it, and not in a challenging way either. It was just a race to checkpoints, no fun at all. Same for all CoD games on veteran, really. Silver PP7 cheat on GoldenEye - Hardest cheat to earn by far, and it's not even really worth it, apart from the sense of completion. Train, 00 agent, 5:25 if you're wondering. I still remember... Caught 'em all in Generation 1 and all I got was that lousy certificate.
  2. Hey there, thought I'd give this a listen as I always enjoy hearing Pokémon remixes! This gets off to a nice moody start, but then the guitar comes in, and that tone is not working at all for me. Sounds like you're playing it in live, which is cool, but you need a bit of a warmer sound to it I think. I know that Lavender Town is depressing, but this isn't sad, it's just a harsh sound. It also sounds pretty out of tune - definitely tune up and do it again. Nice unexpected transition in the middle, however that guitar comes back and has the same problems! The beat works as it is, although there's no harm in adding some more fills and snare builds, and there are some nice synth touches, but I can't get past that guitar. Try adding some countermelodies or some more original melody work, and I wouldn't rule out swapping the guitar for a synth if you still can't get it to sound right. There's a decent track in here somewhere, just fix that guitar and see what it sounds like after that!
  3. Aaaah CJ vocals! Great retro feel to this one, firmly tongue-in-cheek lyrics work with the style, nice cohesive sound to it and good arrangement. I'll have a listen on headphones later to see if there's anything production wise, but overall I like it a lot. Definitely got a Weird Al type thing going on!
  4. Really enjoyable track, nice to hear a finished work from you! Seems like the ending is a little flat though - the last minute could have a bit more stuff added to it I think. Very close to a sub though by the sounds of it!
  5. Says the link's not there or private
  6. Birthday muffins for all!
  7. Well that was suitably awesome! Really nice instrument choices and great percussion. How about putting some more original parts in though? It feels a lot like a cover at the moment. A very good one, but I don't think it'd pass the judges for that reason.
  8. You might want to check out this thread - there's a DKC3 project very close to completion!
  9. Inspired by Ben Briggs' Attention Deficit EP, I thought I'd make some chippy electronica. And any excuse for that pun... Chthonic Irrigation
  10. Beastly! Your other vids are great as well, nice one
  11. This is actually a pretty sick start to a track... but it seems all we ever hear from you is 60-90 seconds of a WIP and then you move on to the next one. Would be really nice to hear a finished piece 3-4 minutes long with solid source referencing and a full arrangement. FINISH IT!
  12. There have been a few requests for this already, the latest being here, but yes I'd love to see JFG get at least one mix posted!
  13. "Hedgog Step"... the new genre that will take over the world?
  14. ...are you him?!

  15. I... but... um... I HAVE TO PRESS ZE BUTTONS!

  16. Would you believe it, I have actual WORK to be doing! Might get on in 20 mins if I can!

  17. Haha cheers man, I cobbled it together pretty quickly but you get the idea - looks like you got a bit of interest already in that new thread :)

  18. Hey dude, thanks for the add! I made this as an example of how awesome your beat is, and how well it works as a hip-hop base. Hope you like it! http://tindeck.com/listen/yiyk

  19. 364 days until the next Pretzel Day...!
  20. Hey Ruku, not a bad effort here! It does sound a little muddy in the mid-lows though - you can tell when you remove them at around 1:59, the whole thing gets a lot cleaner. I'd say it needs a bit more EQ work and perhaps a bit less reverb to make individual parts stand out a bit more. At the moment it seems to lack dynamics, without really having a clear beginning, middle and end. You should definitely throw in some sort of bridge section with a different beat and some original material to break the song up, maybe around 1:30 or 2:00 (I know there's sort of a breakdown at 2:00 but I'm thinking a bigger departure than that). I did enjoy it though, and am just being critical to help you improve and have a shot at getting it posted. Keep going with it
  21. Nice start, I agree about the slicing being a little off though (might work better if there was a regular lead-in). Pretty sure you can be a bit more aggressive with that wobble (faster LFO), and give it a bit more width as well for extra impact. Try dropping out the sound completely for a portion at the end of a bar and then resuming on the first beat as well. Then press all the effects buttons at once and voila! Dubstep mix...
  22. Yeah this is an awesome beat that neeeeeds some chilled lyrics! You should post it in the Recruit & Collaborate forum and see if anyone wants to perform any over it. Also, is that sample straight from the game? I think that's not allowed if you intend to sub it, so you should check on that. Really like this though, it totally works.
  23. First of all, I can't get enough of DKC remixes, so bring them on! This track really does work as a trance number, and I think you've got a pretty solid start on this one. Not sure if it's just youtube's encoding, but it does sound a little muddy overall... maybe too much reverb? I listened to version 1 as well, and it seems too conservative for OCR, arrangement wise. You'll have to add a significant amount of original stuff in the 2nd edition, and also I'd advocate bringing in more percussion earlier than you do in the first one. 3 and a half minutes seems a little long to wait for the real drum groove to get going! Also little flourishes and fills would be welcome - sweeps, dropouts, instrument change-ups, you know the drill. Keep working at it, you're definitely on to something here. Listen to stuff by Jewbei and bLiNd if you haven't already
  24. Hey all, I thought since I'm DarkSim I should attempt a Perfect Dark remix This WIP is the result of me just noodling about with a track without any real direction. I think it's a decent base to build something from, but I'm not sure where to take it. Any ideas? Remix: http://tindeck.com/listen/lkrw Source: I think it's got that Perfect Dark feel to it in terms of instrumentation, which was definitely what I was going for, but it needs some kind of focal point that I think is currently lacking. Probably gonna leave this one on the back burner for a while unless I have a flash of inspiration, just putting it out there now to see what people think. Any feedback is welcome!
  25. Such an impressive project! It's amazing that so many people can play and record individually and it can all come together so well. Incredible performances all around, I've been waiting to hear this since I saw it in the WIP boards and it really delivers on all counts. I can only hope there are more like this in the works!
