  1. Yeah, I dunno if there's a better term for stuff done with real instruments though. "Recorded" music?
  2. I personally prefer the smaller sound, but that's just a difference in taste. What I really wanted to ask is what you meant by "played directly on a piano"? As opposed to indirectly through another person? Also, zohar, if you end up reading this thread again, would you mind re-uploading your "Dimension Breach" arrangement? I'm getting a 404 error...
  3. I really, really hope NiGHTS doesn't suck.
  4. I have to say I'm a big fan of your stuff...nice work as usual. So jealous that you've got access to such a beautiful voice... Looking forward to the next update!
  5. Exactly what it needed. You're go for (re)launch.
  6. Sounds like an Outkast remix.
  7. Grandia II. :/ Music was awesome though.
  8. Definitely keeping this one. Picking up your album while I'm at it too. I'd also like to take this time to say that I'm kinda confused by BGC's decision. Changing the chord progression is probably the most commonly used technique in arranging music. And it's not like these were extreme changes either...4 and 6 chords are common substitution for 1 chords. That said, I do admit I had a little trouble hearing the source, but I was able to catch where and when you used it. Definitely wouldn't have recognized it if I hadn't been told outright though. I actually think 2 strategically-changed notes could push this into acceptance territory (I mean, dude, you got 4 YESes as it was). Really though, how hard can it be to copy the melody MORE closely?
  9. "Arranged" doesn't mean it was made with a computer...it just means it's different from the original composition in some way, such as changes in melody, harmony, rhythm, or instrumentation. OCR has several live arrangements...in fact, even live covers of video game music are considered "arrangements" in the strictest sense of the word, since the instruments have been changed. You might be thinking about sequenced or digital music, which does imply being created by a computer.
  10. Someone mind hosting this again? The judges decision got me interested...
  11. I'm all for this if only to see the inevitable cameo from Mr. ERROR.
  12. A futuristic Zelda would be pretty dang awesome.
  13. Whoa! Just like the original game!
  14. Haha, I did exactly that at my friend's wedding last weekend. Here's some of the VGM I played: Aeris's Theme Tifa's Theme Forever Rachel The first part of "A Clockwork Vampire" Other pieces I didn't get around to: Final Fantasy Prologue Prelude Dancing Mad (third tier) Piano Collections stuff Chrono Cross Another Arni Village Reminiscence He Sang of Feeling Dimension Breach Starstealing Girl Remixes Anything by kLuTz Anything by me (j/k, I don't have sheet music )
  15. Cool, thanks guys. The M3 sounds awesome, but I have a few concerns. The first and main concern is whether it will work as a standalone GBA flashcart as well. Basically it'd be nice if I could use it with my SP as well...no particular reason, it'd just be cool if I could. The secondary and related concern is pretty minor but still worth addressing, namely form factor. I don't feel comfortable being restricted to Lite shells...again, options are a plus. How many versions of the M3 Perfect are there anyway? The third issue might be more important than the first (unless I'm missing something), specifically the matter of actually buying a microSD card and reader/writer. I can deal with the $10-20 cost of the media, but I'd rather not buy a separate device to read/write. Does the M3 come with one? The G6 does look like an attractive solution as well, if only because it comes with a GBA shell in addition to the Lite shells. Not to mention it has built-in media and comes with a USB adapter. Space doesn't worry me too much...1GB is plenty for me. And lastly...would it be too much to ask for rumble? ;; Of course, this might be all moot until I take care of that "getting a job" issue...
  16. Does he even do arrangements? Does anyone have a list of which ones were used? I'm curious. Also, a pic of the sampler CD would be cool.
  17. Speaking of which, does anyone know what the best flashcart/passcard combination(s) are if I want both NDS and GBA homebrew? Basically some pros/cons of the R4 vs. M3 vs. G6 vs. EZ4 vs. SuperCard vs. etc would be nice.
  18. He does mostly covers, but that's what people like. His actual playing is decent I think.
  19. That's been a problem in all the Smash games I think...and often the characters are actually obscured by the damage counters. Hope they fix that with at least some sort of transparency effect in future games.
  20. Maybe you should look up words before using them for a change.
  21. Hm, interesting way to compensate for the lack of buttons on the Wiimote...use MORE of them. Though I think the more important revelation here is that analog control is not absolutely needed to play a Smash game. Smash Bros. DS anyone?
  22. So wait, is Evilhead going to troll every music game thread he sees?
  23. Yeah, I think a DS Micro is kind of inevitable. And it will shine with the light of a thousand suns.
  24. I have an odd request...do you think you could mash "Korobeneiki" (aka "the Tetris song") with the part sung by the Russians in "To Life" from Fiddler on the Roof? I just thought the two might work well together.
