Hey guys! We have finished polishing tracks (with the feedback from the judges panel in mind, of course ), and the project was resubmitted yesterday! Sadly, we had to drop a couple of tracks. Given this fact, I decided to change the tracklist bit. But hey, good news is that we've got plenty of amazing music left!  Hope the album passes the panel this time! @Chernabogue is working on the trailer for us, and what we have now is pretty nice, tbh. All in all, we're very close to the finish, so be patient and get hyped bit by bit

Just do a MIDI rip and send that.
In the past (5 years ago or something like that) I also had someone who mailed me a couple of times to ask me to remix some tunes, but he wasn't going so far and he only send a few mails.
Also had some people (woman) who wanted to marry me because they liked a remix I did in 2008 so much...LOL.

I've been screwing with this for awhile, any comments on the mix before I submit it to the hallowed halls of OverClocked ReMix I'm always down for FEEDBACK!

    High speed racing
    Burned in his blood
    But now
    It's in my circuits
I feel  the need for speed
    I push on the throttle
    Rock it like a shuttle
    Roll into first place
I will never lose a race
Pun ch through the sky, like a falcon above
It mirrors the endless sea below me
    Kick through the pack
    Come up from the back
    I don't think I'll be the same
    Adrenaline flowing'
Or at least I assume so
    Show  me your moves
So I can show you mine
    And
    Keep you in second place
I'll  take the first with grace
    You might get small taste
    In this battle and chase!
I received this power by winning a fight
So I may as well put it to good use!

Black_Doom reacted to Mazedude in American Album (2005) - worth remastering?
Say... a question for y'all. I'm currently upgrading my home studio, getting some new gear in there, and I'm wondering... if I were to create a re-mastered version of The American Album (originally released in 2005), would there be any interest? Better mixing, maybe bring in some live instruments, etc.?
I wouldn't want to pull a Lucas and re-make pieces of history that were fine the way they were... but then again, I could pull a Schafer and have fun simply presenting some material that hey, you enjoyed this years ago, now here it is again in HD.
Btw here's the album if you want to give it a fresh listen: https://mazedude.bandcamp.com/album/the-american-album

Black_Doom reacted to Rexy in I'd like to draw you some artwork :)
I think a thread like this is long overdue considering how much I've gotten back towards Deviantart for a bit, but it's here:
    http://freqrexy.deviantart.com/

Before OC Remix, I did a lot of art and written work there, though 'art' was much loosely defined as I was one that just wanted to do their best with the mere traditional mediums I got stuck with.  Now that technology has moved on significantly, I've found myself drawing digitally more often and learning as many tricks as I can to see how I could keep refining my skill set!  I focus a lot on character drawing, with my primary focus being to pay more attention to overall pose work over detail.

Here's a quick summary of the best artwork I did in 2016.  You can see that a lot of my proudest submissions, oddly enough, tend to be of the Nintendo variety thanks to art projects I have been a part of - but I am always itching to go back towards the games that I loved at one point and seeing what I can do with them.

I'm also looking to do artwork commissions as well!  Prices go as cheap as $5 for a chibi or half-body sketch of a single character of your choice, or as high as $64 for a fully shaded picture with a background and 3 characters; prices depend on the type you'd like to see.

Otherwise, alongside working on music, I'm always interested to see where the stylus would take my next.  Have fun visiting!

I was cleaning out some of my files and I found this almost finished Zelda II remix that I had forgotten about (from late 2016). So I added an intro and uploaded it!
Can't submit it yet, since I just submitted my Final Fantasy remix, but I will as soon as the sub cool down is over.
    Comments & Feedback appreciated

Hey folks. I've decided to continue on with the compo. I'll be posting Round 3 match-ups tonight, and Round 1 and Round 2 music together tomorrow night for voting. For those wondering about my family emergency, my mom passed away last week while visiting India. While I certainly appreciate any condolences you have to offer, please do not post them in this thread; I'd like to keep the thread on-topic. A "like" on this post would be fine, though.
Thanks for understanding! I'm looking forward to everyone's entries moving forward.

I really love what Nostalvania did here - the blend of carefree jazzy piano, smooth EP, nice organ, funky bassline, and solid drums give a completely new, creative treatment of this overpopular source. Wish it was longer, though. But other than that, very cool work!

Preview Window to the Stars: http://youtu.be/FF6uamDXbfo Download Window to the Stars: http://smrpg.ocremix.org Torrent: http://bt.ocremix.org/torrents/Super_Mario_RPG_-_Window_to_the_Stars.torrent Seven years after having joined the OC ReMix community, I was becoming increasingly distraught that there had not yet been an attempt at a remix album for what is, in my opinion, the greatest game of all time. I eventually decided to take matters into my own hands and create what would eventually become Window to the Stars. While not the easiest undertaking by any stretch of the imagination, I feel that this tribute to the brilliance of Yoko Shimomura, Koji Kondo, and Nobuo Uematsu does the soundtrack justice. With nearly every track rearranged across 3 discs, the album as a whole portrays a sort of reimagining of the journey taken in the game itself.
Of course, this project would not be what it is today without a great deal of help. Big thanks to both the artists and fans who have been waiting patiently throughout this sometimes-not-too-clear development. IT'S FINALLY HERE! A second thanks to the artists who worked on the album not only for their incredible talent and timeliness, but also for dealing with Emery and my pestering over the last 4 years. You da real MVPs. Thanks to Yoko Shimomura for her incredible ability to create emotive works, even through beeps and boops. Also to Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu for creating the initial atmosphere in the Mario series and Final Fantasy series, respectively, that would serve as the foundation for many pieces in Super Mario RPG. And finally, a VERY special thanks to Emery for all of his work on this album. There was a time I thought I'd have to drop the project and that caused much distress in my life, but Emery stepped in to help pick up the slack and saved me and the album. It's safe to say this album would not be complete today and it most definitely wouldn't be of the caliber it is without his help. I've said it to you many times in private conversations but, again, thank you so much for everything you've done.
Ultimately, all this work would be for nothing without you, the people listening to this music. I hope this album brings you as much joy as it does for me.
    Enjoy, friends!

    - Dustin Lagaly (Theory of N)

Okay, so let me make sure we're all on the same page here: Super Mario RPG is one of the greatest masterpieces of classic video games. Anyone who hasn't played it should get that fixed ASAP. And the rest of you already know why that game is so good.
With that out of the way, I would like to say that my history with this project wasn't the most straightforward path. I started with simply claiming and remixing the final battle music of the game. At that point, the project was still far from completion, so I contacted Dustin and asked if I could help in any way. So, with his consent, I started sending out messages to the other remixers to try and get the ball rolling some more. And then, one thing led to another, and here I am! I'm really grateful to Dustin for letting me help with directing the project, for the highs and lows anyone should expect from a project of that scale, for the teamwork, and for making the project happen in the first place. I'm also very grateful to all of the musicians and to the visual artists for providing all the great content this project has to offer, and for enduring my (most probably obnoxious) constant badgering. And, of course, where would this project be without the original composers Yoko Shimomura, Koji Kondo, and Nobuo Uematsu, towards all of whom I hold the highest admiration. Their music has shaped a huge part of my childhood, and has provided the world with a gorgeous demonstration of human expression.
As for this here project, we have decided to highlight both the complexity of the original soundtrack by covering most of its extent, and the variety of musical styles and moods that is achievable by the remixing community. The three discs (Exploration, Confrontation, and Celebration) give a quite self-explanatory progression to the album that, I believe, should provide you with a satisfyingly wide array of emotions to re-enact the original game's mood on a nicely crafted musical scene. Getting this project done was one big adventure for us, and I hope listening to it all will be a big adventure for you all as well. Happy listening!

Oh, c'mon, this remix deseves much more attention! Orchestra is not my favourite stuff, tbh, but when it's made right, it clicks SO HARD. This track is just awesome, seriously. I love how from cartoon-ish, carefree intro it evolves into something majestic, something solemn, simply epic, which makes me think about Venice for some reason (maybe because the arranged theme here is mostly "Swimming BGM"? ) and then it returns back to its playful beginning  Sweet thing for sure!
    P.S. All hail dat accordion!
