  1. This is a shot in the dark, but does anyone know of a really decent castanet sample or soundfont? I can't find one anywhere.
  2. Sonar Producer Edition 5.2... I started out with Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 back in 2000. It came free with a piece of audio gear that I had purchased at the time. I found it incredibly intuitive to use and fairly easy on the eyes. It did nearly everything I needed it to do at the time. I had later noticed that Sonar was coming out and so I started downloading trial versions of other programs to see if there was any reason not to upgrade to it. I didn't like anything else I tried so I stuck with Cakewalk. I can't imagine using anything else for the majority of my tracking and mixing.
  3. I've never played Earthbound, nor have I ever seen it in action. From all the descriptions though, it sounds like a pretty neat game. I may have to make my first ever VC purchase.
  4. I tell ya, Shnab never fails to expand my mind with his arrangements. They're out there, but not so much to alienate my ears. To think this stays right on the source tune without making me think too much about the source tune. Those are my favorite kind of vg-arrangements. The panning is a little disorienting though. I would have brought the instruments closer together, but I understand they're in their own worlds and need to be heard as such. Still, fun and interesting all around. Nice sounds, sampled or not. They sound performed, as they should. Love it!
  5. If you're expecting realistic orchestral arrangements, then you're probably gonna be disappointed with the rest of the songs on the project, as they're mostly done in various styles of rock. The majority of them being country and southern rock style with vocals. But mostly country. Think Shania Twain and Keith Urban. That's kinda what we're going for here. But yeah, what I've heard sounds great so far!
  6. I chalk it up to homophobia.
  7. Nice track. You have some beautiful ideas in there and some all around great sounds. A tiny handful of the transitions (like at 2:00) are only slightly awkward, but that's about it. I'll definitely be listening to this more than just a few times, in order to really let it sink in. All in all, it really does what I think it sets out to do and takes the listener on an interesting and dynamic orchestral journey. It especially sweetens up in about the last minute or so.
  8. I can supply drums if needed. I have a v-drum kit hooked up via midi with some great samples I recently purchased. I have much experience in performing on my kit. I can also supply lyrics and/or vocals if anyone's interested.
  9. I think the main problem I have is that I don't trust myself enough to get DFH sounding as good as it can be. I guess that's why I looked at EZDrummer, since a lot of the guess work is taken out of processing. Yeah, I'd be limiting myself to using their samples as is, but my understanding is that it handles multiple outputs, so that I can handle any extra processing in my sequencer. I'm fairly confident that I could get them sounding how I'd like them to with decent enough compression. Also, most of my drum tracks will likely be recorded live from my v-drum kit, which from the youtube video demonstrations that I've seen, integrates convincingly enough for my needs, especially given the fair amount of articulations and velocity layers. The other thing is that I just don't want a heavy work load when my creative juices are flowing and I feel like pumping out a tune while it's still fresh. Maybe, because of this, EZDrummer would work best. I'll probably take a look into Addictive Drums, since you mentioned it as being somewhat similar. The idea of retaining raw audio files, but with built in EQ presets sounds very attractive, assuming they require only minor tweaking,. Though I realize that almost always change from song to song and style to style. Also, I am on a budget, which I guess makes one of these packages that much more tempting to purchase.
  10. I'm looking at virtual drum kits as well and am having a hard time deciding between two pieces of software. I've narrowed my choices down to EZ Drummer (which uses a DFH expansion pack) and Battery. I basically want something easy to use, integrates well with Sonar, allows me to play various articulations and velocities using a single drum pad, works smoothly when recording live tracks with my v-drum kit, has multiple output capabilities per track, a decent humanizing function for lazy people like myself, and perhaps anything else I can't think of at the moment. EDIT: Come to think of it, since I already have the DR-008 plug-in, do I even really need Battery? They each appear to do the same thing. Would a decent set of drum kit samples be all I need?
  11. I ordered a t-shirt from them and received it quicker than I expected. Count me happy.
  12. I use all default settings to connect. IRCDS gets a bit flaky now and then, but it's reliable enough for the most part. Certainly far better than DSOrganize's setup, as you may have already noticed.
  13. IRCDS works great. I just gave it a shot and connected to #ocremix on the first try. I have the M3 Simply, btw, and I'm lovin' it.
  14. Hey guys, I have an inquiry regarding the following policy: "Copyright owners of the original arranged music may use OverClocked ReMixes in a for-profit context." Is this referring only to the original game composer that the arrangement or remix is based off of? I'm assuming it is, but I dunno, I can't tell. I hate making assumptions without more details. The reason I ask is because, for example, my Summertime remix contains original material written solely by me (the melody in the chorus along with the breakdown are my original ideas) and I've always assumed, naturally I suppose, that I still retain my rights to that particular original material that I wrote, meaning that I at least retain partial control over how the entire remix would be distributed, for profit or not. I've always been in the dark on this subject and knew I'd have to bring it up at some point somewhere. May as well be here and now. Thoughts?
  15. I was at the Chicago show last year and was blown away by everyone's performance. Any chance you guys get, I highly recommend catching this show.
  16. I'm still not sure if that explains why he didn't heal.
  17. I love Heroes! and flying man! I'm hoping they end the season on a strong note. In other words, I hope Sylar gets what's coming to him. I don't want anything to be dragged out on this show like on every other show out there right now. If this one is to really stick out and keep me watching, it needs to come to some hard conclusions and offer a decent resolution that pays off for having watched all season long. Besides, that way the heroes can tackle something else entirely next season, which I already can't wait for, btw. I still can't figure out why future-Peter has a scar. What happened to his healing ability?
