RiceLikeWhoa Posted April 18, 2003 Posted April 18, 2003 Not that this is a bad piece, it is a very nice jazz piece... However, i liked AmIEvil's FF6 Death On the Snowfield much more Quote
Veovis Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 I don't like this style too much, but it is well done. Loved amievil's 'death on the snowfield' and 'let there be light' much much more though...got any more of that comin'? Quote
LuckyXIII Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 WOW. Easily one of the best remixes on this site. This sounds like music from a deleted scene of The Blues Brothers. At first I was a bit skeptical (as I was when I first saw The Blues Brothers). But after the first time I realized, wow, something amazing just happened here. The second time around I noticed my foot was tapping and my head was bobbing the entire time. Dig. Quote
Kamikaze Noodle Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 This is awesome! I'm not sure what genre I'd call this. It isn't exactly funk, but it DEFINITELY isn't jazz. Or at least I wouldn't call it jazz. Well anyways, while I enjoyed the whole song, I loved the soloing a lot more than the rest of it. Sometimes it seemed almost... corny. But like I said, it's awesome, and very deserving of the first "FUCKIN" I've ever seen Darkesword put before "SOLID". AmIEvil R0x0rz j00r b0X0rz!!!!11 Quote
Protricity Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 I didnt like this song as much as other AmIEvil works. I think it concentrated way too heavily on style and samplage and not nearly enough on arrangement to do the great original justice. I didnt like the new chords or the static beat. It had some nice improv though which is always good. Way too short though. Quote
IceRaptor Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 DUDE, I normaly hate jazz and that old timey music, and maybe i still do... But this one i do like. Any ways this remix OWNS, it sounds really good. I like the creativity. I give it a 10/10 GOOD JOB!!! Quote
gilead42 Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Great work!! That was heaven for me. Good job. Quote
Andrew Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 I was very impressed with this arrangement! It extraordinarily fills the gap that the Nintendo Entertainment System's sound left it. AmiEvil has definitely exposed the full potential of this piece, making it in the most logical and wonderful style. Quote
NightWish Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Wow. This is nicely done! Though I already figured that this type of remix would be done as Super Mario Bros 3 music sounds jazzy already, I'd say that this remix is a nice extension to the already great SMB3 music. Nice. Quote
Ryan8bit Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 On a sidenote: are you working on something, Ryan? I'm always working on something. If you really want to know more, you can PM me. Quote
OverCoat Posted April 22, 2003 Posted April 22, 2003 It's hard to distinguish music composed on a computer and a live piece these days. I'm going with live piece. There's NO WAY this sound could be replicated with any Gigasamples or soundfonts or crap like that. Then again... if it is, it's THE most realistic computerized composition... ever... EVAR! Anyways, regardless of it being live or not, I thoroughly enjoyed this remix. It made me of course, think back to the 70s, and the Blues Brothers. This is a swingin groovy song. Must download. Quote

Maybe you don't play one of these instruments or something, but you can tell it's fake. Great brass samples, though. In passing, most probably wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't real (until you turned it up). AmIEviL? Yes, you are. Quote
LuckyXIII Posted April 22, 2003 Posted April 22, 2003 they ARE samples?! Wow...i had entertained the possibility cuz i thought there were a couple times the sax coulda slurred some notes instead of it being so staccato...but man. wow. where does one find samples such as these? Quote
The Xyco Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 GOOD GRAVY I LOVE THIS THIS TRACK!!! i've loved almost ALL of AmIEvil's pieces, but this one takes the f**king cake!!! a real smooth yet pounding beat that you can really dance to. Will make your most depressed feelings shatter like a martini glass to granite. altho i could say it sorta moves away from the original at points, that doesnt mean it cant be SOME SERIOUS TUNAGE!!! MAJOR THANKS to AmIEvil for making such an awesome track, you dunno how many of my bad days you just turned around Quote
Kamikaze Noodle Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 Heh, you guys thought it was real? The drumbeat alone gives it away. Although that is a nice rimshot sample... Quote

BeanbagSkratchbob Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 O.K. so I rarely post a ReMix ReView. But when you can SEE those guys in their blue tuxedos playin' those horns in your head...it's a GOOD MIX. Quote
incinerator Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 Wow...incredible mix. Props to AmIEvil for making this bluesy/jazzy/whatever-the-hell-it-is remix that just won't leave my head! Quote
TheKingOfFightingGames Posted April 25, 2003 Posted April 25, 2003 Possibly the best Jazz I have ever and will ever here! Awsome remix of a song I never thought could sound so good. Quote
MacDaddy Mike Posted April 26, 2003 Posted April 26, 2003 Who said it was? Well... Great brass samples they ARE samples?! Wow...i had entertained the possibility cuz i thought there were a couple times the sax coulda slurred some notes instead of it being so staccato Quote
Elex Synn Posted April 30, 2003 Posted April 30, 2003 Holy shit this rocks!! I swear I must have listened to it a good 4 times straight when I forst heard it. We need more mixes like this.. However you would classify it.. I'd say it's jazzy/blues, but that's just me. Mega props for this one man! MEGA PROPS. Quote
Trance-Canada™ Posted April 30, 2003 Posted April 30, 2003 Who said it was? Well... Great brass samples they ARE samples?! Wow...i had entertained the possibility cuz i thought there were a couple times the sax coulda slurred some notes instead of it being so staccato that doesn't mean they were specifically speaking of the sax as being a brass instrument, there are brass in this song you know?
