Monobrow Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 <3 Sebastian This is a great mix :J Also congrats on direct post! Quote
DrumUltimA Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 What do I think? I think AeroZ is the man! Nice work man, you are definitely in my mind one of ocr's greatest musical minds. Quote
anosou Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Swede-approved! Fantastic work as always, you know I loved this before and I still do! Moar plz. Quote
Antipode Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 This is BADASS! I think this is my favorite take on this song to date. I love the stereo separation in your instruments and the use of the clown car approach sfx. What's more, you used the original theme without needlessly adding notes all over the place and then added onto it afterward - taking the melody into a great progression the original song didn't feature. THAT'S my favorite kind of mix. The beat is also pretty awesome, and liberal distortion is very close to my heart. Quote
oakthielbar Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Hm. May just be the synth (and maybe even the beats), but this reminds me a bit of the first track on Ratatat's self-titled album. Very interesting remix and well made. Quote
Platonist Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 oh yeah, i've been waiting for this day! go AeroZ! Quote
XZero Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I rarely post reviews because I just don't have much to say about remixes; I usually enjoy them, but can't really articulate why. I downloaded this mix and left OCR to check my email. After a minute or so, I was humming along with the song! I decided that I had to return to OCR and give you my thanks and my compliments on an excellent ReMix. Very, very well done. Quote
Keerarae Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 This theme is one of my absolute favorites and I love to hear remixes of it. This, by far, is the most unique remix of this song I have heard to date. I really enjoy it. Excellent job. Quote
Black Mage Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Excellent melding of two themes. I'd agree with DJP that it's a very crunchy mix, and seasonally appropriate, too. This one has earned a direct adding to my Halloween playlist! Quote
-RK- Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 HAHA! Hell yeah! Never stop making music yo. Quote
Evahn Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Wow, this mix really is great, really ... but as soon as the melody kicked in, I had to turn it off. And I was absolutely loving it before that. The fourth note of the melody in this mix correlates to that of the main theme (in a major key), not of the castle theme (in a minor key). Because of the different chord progression, the original fourth note had to be changed to what it is in this mix. Unfortunately, every time I hear it, it sounds like the melody is leaving the minor key and jumping into major, even though, technically, that note does fit in with the chord it is played over. So, despite the overall greatness of this mix, I really can't listen to it at all, because no matter what, that fourth note is going to sound wrong to me. Crap. Quote
Chernabogue Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Really great ReMix, it's just awesome ! "Castle BGM" is my favorite tune from SMW and Luigi's Mansion's soundtrack is just cool ! Great job ! Quote
Palpable Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Love this, so much going on! Definitely my kind of mix. I like the addition of sections that play the beat straighter - a nice steadiness to contrast the rest of the chaos. Quote
Dhsu Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 My my, everyone and their mother is doing this theme now, aren't they? I APPROVE. (But seriously, gb2FF5.) Quote
OceansAndrew Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Crazy Awesome. Hard hitting and amazing panning, with a great sound, and a ton of variation. I love how you chopped up the organ run, and the groove is amazing. I wish there was a larger climax before the ending, but meh, it's still an amazing track. Completely killer work; I am going to name my firstborn after you. Quote
richter Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Hot damn this is awesome! Smacks of TheDarkReachesofSMW only, uh, more musical. Fun stuff. Quote
Mazedude Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 Very, VERY fun fusion of oldschool and newschool sounds in a classical game piece that doesn't get enough remix attention. A definite keeper. Looking forward to more mixes by AeroZ. Quote
Martin Penwald Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 "Crunchy" is the right word for this song. So much raw, untamed badassery. If OCR were a schoolyard, this remix would be taking the other remixes' lunch money away. And I agree with Mazedude; this theme (as well as the rest of the SMW music) doesn't get enough attention (anymore). Quote
glasfen Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 This is an incredible ReMix. I find it very engaging, not only because I recognize the source tunes but because it moves with such a confident swagger amid a brilliantly executed arrangement. Excellent use of Big Boo sfx and multiple themes. Great work, AeroZ! Quote
Thrik Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Absolutely love this. So many quirky little details/cues, and totally brings out what I love about the castle theme. Great work! Quote
Ranch Doritos Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 This is totally going to be the main song played at my intense Halloween Party. Perfect for the occasion and fan based play. Nicely mixed indeed...and when i like something...it getz played in heavy rotation. xD Quote
Rokin2Mordor Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I was totally blown away by this. I thought Zircon's "Monstrous Turtles!" was the be-all-end-all mix of of the Castle BGM. Then comes this… The amalgamation of Super Mario World and Luigi's Mansion is definitely made of win! Quote
42 Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 This is like deep fried "whoa" on a stick. Crazy good. I definitely like the originality of how the two themes are mixed together and how they are presented here. Quote
