Dunther Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I found that a few hours ago...and than it was removed... What happened? Just curious... Beautiful song anyway Quote
SoulinEther Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I would kill for those vocals in the heavier section! It's amazing, stunning all around, digging it left, right and center, and my own voice will just have to do lol. Quote
TheKrow Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Well apparently, I shit a brick, so it must be pretty darn good. Props for Taucer singing in Swahili. Quote
Dhsu Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Usually I don't have a problem with random cumshots, but this time it just completely took me out of the mood. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to put them in EVERYTHING. That aside, this is a bold and generally successful attempt at arranging one of the more intimidating tracks in VG music. Kudos! Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to put them in EVERYTHING. LIES. taucer specifically requested one in this song, so i had to suffice. it's pretty clear where i took over on the arrangement of the track, and that's the dividing line. i thought it was a suitable transition =) soulinether, taucer sounds fantastic, doesn't he? like i said in the writeup, they were originally just open fifths, but his voice is really easy to melodyne because of his tone. so it came out with him sounding just as good as if it was live. dunther, i saw that on my rss feed, too. i think it was just a glitch in the feed itself. Cool. Good to know. dunther, i saw that on my rss feed, too. i think it was just a glitch in the feed itself. Saw it on the site itself; it came up and then went down. Dave said, in short, he made some mistakes while putting it up and had to take it down to fix them. Quote
prophetik music Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ah, missed that. it was a long-ass writeup with a lot of formatting, so missing something is to be expected occasionally. Quote
metalsnakejuice Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 A very powerful song that sounds great. l salute to you both. Quote
endangered Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I waited a long time for a Baba Yetu remix. Excellent work. Quote
Eino Keskitalo Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Fantastic work! I think all the arrangement choices worked out great. I can hear a couple of strumming/timing fumbles in the track but that's about it. Fun track, simple, happy and powerful. OT: Mr. Pretzel, it's not "Wiki", it's Wikipedia. "Wiki" makes it sound like it's a wiki on this site. --Eino Quote
avaris Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ZOMG can Brad get posted without a direct post!? Haha awesome you two! The synth solo was unexpected but was awesome. It really provided a nice change of pace to the song. The breakout section felt a lil too over-compressed in comparison to the very soft opening section with all its subtle dynamics. This is not a deal breaker by any means. Love the irish flute solo! Quote
Sir_Downunder Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Awesome, just completely, fantastically awesome. Kickass, powerful arrangement Props to you singing in Swahili as well Taucer. Quote
prophetik music Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 ZOMG can Brad get posted without a direct post!? i got a song through the panel (with immense help from zircon), it just hasn't been posted...i promise! really! Quote
OceansAndrew Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Great stuff, beautifully done, etc. I loved the little lion king reference, and the synth introduction was . I haven't heard much new from my homies, so it's awesome to hear what you've been working on. Kickass stuff guys, I loved the rocking end, and everything about this is quality. Quote
Black Mage Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 An instant 5-Star! I love the abrupt transition from folk to rock, it really wakes up an already great remix! And, as always, I have to give props to a fellow Irish whistler, Geoffrey. Quote
Lucentas Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Well, what can I say, that was excellent. The second half of the piece really lends dynamics and a tighter structure to what might otherwise have been a peaceful, yet potentially repetitive piece, turning it into a veritable epic for the ages. I really love the work both of you guys do, keep on tranglin'. Quote
Platonist Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 oh god this is some great stuff! dynamic duo in the least ^^ also cool to finally see some Civaction around here Quote
zykO Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 dudes... my favorite title track from one of my favorite franchises ever. this is beautiful stuff. like really. ummmm MORE CIV MUSIK PLS Quote
SwordBreaker Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Man, it was a complete surprise for this remix to appear all of a sudden. I still remember Taucer posting a WIP of this a few years back that contained only the first half of the track with out Prophet's involvement. Obviously, that first half has been refined a lot since then. The vocals are a lot clearer and the bongo drums are cool. Just love the whole Lion King vibe it portrays. The switch-up to Celtic rock kind of surprised me, but I really love it. Just wish that the electric guitars were less muddier and more clear. Excellent work, guys. Makes me want to listen to the actual soundtrack. Quote
Thin Crust Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Yey!!! We get our second Christian song on the site! I love it! Introducing the second half as a rock song was a wonderful idea. But as ppl have said, it would have been great if we had some more of the lyrics in the later parts. Other than that, this is an instant favorite. Quote
prophetik music Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 i'm kind of surprised that baba yetu got as much press as it did with the text being what it is, but it goes to show that people will listen to anything when they don't know what it means. Quote
Geoffrey Taucer Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Yey!!! We get our second Christian song on the site! LOL For the record, the irony was not lost on me. EDIT: For those who have no idea what's going on here: the lyrics are an adaptation of the lord's prayer in Swahili. I say "ironic," because I'm one of the more outspoken agnosts/atheists in PP&R Quote
