analoq Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 smooth. i'm starting to like this Harmony chap. cheers. Quote
Dahlia Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I heard this in the WIP forums and predicted it'd make it past the panel, but here it got the honour of a direct post. Good job, Harmony! Quote
Navi Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Nice work, Brandon! I remember hearing this in the WIP thread. Knew it was good; happy to find it direct posted. Now about that rap song... Quote
Rexy Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 ooh, this is smooth I never thought I'd hear the Spring Yard Zone theme being interpreted like that, even at a stylistic motion like what has been shown here. I appreciate a great amount of the moods as shown as a whole, as well as much of the skill as shown with much of the sequencing provisions and the guitar performance style. I also appreciate the tempo change at 3:03 - an aspect that managed to catch me by surprise. If I do tend to have some qualms here, it took me a heck of a long while to get into the vocal provisions (and even the sung vocals were shown to be rather cheesy to begin with IMO), but aside from that I found that to be a very interesting track to take in once the night starts to settle outside. Folks, I think this is one of those tracks involved in a movement of covering Sonic tracks not shown on an OC Remix before, and a quality one to boot. Be sure to keep moving on Harmony! Quote
DCT Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I am becoming a VERY big Harmony fan. This is really smooth stuff. I would nver have invisioned the Spring Yard Zone theme taken in this direction, but Harmony pulled it off to perfection (complete with cheesy vocals ). I can't wait to see what this mixer has up his sleeve next. -DCT Quote
Less Ashamed Of Self Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Good gravy Harmony. This is quality. I like. I really like. A little repetitive perhaps but everything you could ever ask for in a vg mix. 10/10 Quote
Liontamer Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Fuck yeah, this guy's the dawg. Heard the first 30 seconds and was immediately impressed. Great work again, Brandon. Quote
krispy Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 This is wonderful, nothing beats live instruments . It is laid back and competent with great pacing, props. Quote
Jivemaster Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Yeah the song's not bad. Very authentic loungey kind of sound. I like this kind of piano stuff. I didn’t find the backups that cheesy at all – quite a nice change actually. Didn’t quite like how the outro drums were done, but other than that a good mix which is quite pleasing to the ears. Quote
watkinzez Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Damn man, this ROCKS. Love the jazzy solos (especially piano) and while the voice is a little corny at first, fits in quite well. Kudos! Quote
Ruth Loose Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 This is The Rippingtons do Sonic! Hawtness. Definately going to be on my playlist for a long, long time! Quote
Tex Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Another excellent ReMix by Brandon. Very creative arrangement with Spring Yard Zone. Nice instruments and voices. And of course I have fun. Very good song for my taste. Ah, man...you´re great! Quote
BlackPhantom Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Very smooth, excellent remix, but am I the only one who think this sounds SO much like the song from The Sims? Quote
Petara Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Harmony does it again. Although I don't like this one as much as his last, it's still damn good. Very...unique . Can't wait for the next one. Quote
D-Lux Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Groove bias? I think not. This piece has EXCELLENT creative talent .. and as DJP wrote in the review, it's a very laid back track. With the music having one of the more laid-back personalities, plus the feel of a live jazz perfromance, there's no dispute why this was direct posted. Great work Harmony. Quote
ProjectSpam Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Harmony Fan Club Member +1 This ReMix is brilliant. Further explanation? None needed. With only two remixes, you've quickly become one of my favorite ReMixers. Can't wait for what's next. Quote
RimFrost the Tourianist Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Mellow and nice.. Even I like a soft jazzy song with vocals at times. Good Job Harmony ! Quote
Luminay Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 wow, now Ive got someone who shares my views on playing stuff live. now I know it can be done and it does make it sound much better. I must... keep... practising... to match level of skill on oc... gah, so hard! good remix btw maybe il be able to make one these days Quote
DrumUltimA Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I THUROUGHLY enjoyed this. I'm a jazz vibraphonist myself and I greatly appreciate hearing that in a sonic remix. Actually, if you ever want to dub in a live vibes solo, let me know XD. But seriously man, you caught something special in this piece. Congradulations. Quote
Harmony Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 oh snap! Remix +1 Thanks for all of the amazing feedback OCR . It's really appreciated. Thanks also to DJP and those judges that gave this mix a direct post! Now about that rap song... Coming this summer to a judges panel near you? Quote
Navi Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Now about that rap song... Coming this summer to a judges panel near you? Damn my eyes for staring for about twenty minutes, trying to figure out what "rafate" was. Quote
mv Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Really nice track man! It's refreshing and tightly chill. Loved the vocal work. Nice concept piece and good execution Congrats on the OCR post, I'll be keeping this one. Quote
Patrick Burns Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Very nice work, Harmony... I can't really add to the list of praises, though. the only thing teeny tiny thing I could nit pick about is that you're guitar sorta bleeds into the rest of the instrumentation. bravo Quote
