metaphist
Even I'm disappointed at that, and I'm strictly interested in the competitive nature of fighting games. Sub-space Emissary was awesome, and I was looking forward to something even better with the new one. Guess we'll just have the boring arcade run. Bleck
sakurai didn't say there wouldn't be a story mode, he just said there wouldn't be cutscenes and even if there isn't a story mode honestly who cares
jnWake
I hope we get something similar to Melee's Adventure Mode at least, I love playing Single Player in Smash.

liquid wind
no repeat of subspace is fine for me, I greatly preferred melee's single player also on the subject, board the platforms or there will be mutiny
Antonio Pizza
and even if there isn't a story mode honestly who cares I care. and so does Luke Skywalker (Episode IV, 1hr 37 minutes, 30 seconds in)
Mirby
no repeat of subspace is fine for me, I greatly preferred melee's single playeralso on the subject, board the platforms or there will be mutiny agreed on both counts SSE was nice, but... you don't need a grand storyline for a game like Smash. The Adventure mode worked nicely, even if it was a mashing up of worlds. Perhaps they can make it even more expansive (though not to the extent of SSE)... oh, and how about CHARACTER-SPECIFIC BREAK THE TARGETS not just HEY LET'S MAKE FIVE STAGES AND THAT'S IT. EVERYONE SHARES THEM TOO character-specific ones really helped to acclimate one to that character's play style through using their special techniques to reach those targets. Malaki-LEGEND.sys
Personally speaking, I'm fine with the lack of a story mode in a fighter, as more often than not it's all about the multiplayer(be it online or off). I bought Soul Calibur II on the PS2 back in the day along with other fighters like Capcom Vs SNK 2, but as much as I loved them, I just couldn't keep at it for too long without getting some multiplay in. Of course I DO appreciate when a fighter DOES incorporate a pretty cool story mode like Mortal Kombat, but it's no deal breaker for me. by a longshot. Looking forward to some 3DS Smash Brothers. InDL
I'm kind of sad they still haven't added Isaac from Golden Sun. Being able to use Djinn for different moves would be way cool.
CinnamonJihad
Yeah, I don't really care too much about the story mode for SSB. I only ever really play through it to unlock characters. I just want to hear this music again - If this is back in there, you can do whatever you want Nintendo!

Mirby
i don't think anyone was surprised, honestly. this was more of a reassurance, methinks.
Thalzon
We got Olimar soon before Pikmin 3, and Luigi soon before Dream Team. So, at this rate, we'll see Diddy before Tropical Freeze, Zelda (or Ganondorf!) before Wind Waker HD, and Peach before 3D World.

Thalzon
It led to a bit of speculation of having different characters in each game, so it's nice to see them.
