  1. Interesting... hypothetically For another teaser: the version of Dancing Mad you're going to hear isn't just any version, it's the Super-Omega Ultimate Destroyerking Chaos-Explosion Deathbringer Stormgod Hellsmash Superiority Mix of Final Versionific Dragondoomed version (yes, that's the actual name of the file Lashmush sent me)

  2. THIS! Plus if we do another trilogy of BadAss, it'll be a trilogy of prequels featuring remixes of Jar Jar's theme.

  3. Nobody said there couldn't be another trilogy but I'm going to focus on GoodAss/NiceAss/the hero themes album after the release of BA3

  4. I personally think "NiceAss!" is more fitting.

  9. Staff:Pieter van Os (pu_freak) - DirectorAlexandre Mourey (Chernabogue) - Assistant Directortimaeus222 - Mastering and production feedback assistant With the release of the BadAss 3 album imminent, it's time for me to be moving on to something else. It has been suggested a few times during BA3 that an album of hero themes instead of boss themes would be an awesome idea for an album as well. It sounds like fun to direct such an album after BA3 is released, since it's something completely different in terms of artists and cohesive sound but still being able to maintain the course and process I set for BadAss 3. As such, this is (for now) a topic to gauge interest from the community. The general idea is as follows: - The album wil feature only hero themes - The album has two distinctive genres/moods: courageous (think Crono's theme) and fun (more alike Mario or the general feeling of the Missingno album). People should feel happy, refilled with energy and ready to take on the world after listening to this album. Be wary: that doesn't mean too soothing or calming songs - there has to be energy in the album - The album will most likely start in April or May 2016 and the final cut-off will be Q4 2017 (could be October, could be December). As with BA3: this is a definitive cut-off date since we do not specifically need any track mixed. The deadline for only accepting substantial (90% compllete arrangement) WIPs will be around April 2017. - I will work with personal deadlines like I did with BA3: everybody needs to send in an update once every two months. If you fail, you're out (yes, you can get back in if you send in soemthing good enough, but you won't appear on the tracklist untill then) That's about it for now. Thoughts, ideas, interest?

  10. I'm aware of that album - it doesn't quite do what I had in mind, mash up hero and villain themes in a single piece.

  14. I was in love with this mix when I heard it (and commented on it ) in the Workshop forums and has been in my soundcloud playlist for quite some time - I even played your arrangement quite a few times on the piano myself. The different time signature works very well and the build-up throughout the mix is really good! One of my favorite mixes of the past few years - keep on pumping out the good stuff

  15. I'm not familiar with the theme (yeah yeah sue me), but I love nostalvania's mixes. This mix keeps the energy throughout, has very interesting dynamics and makes great use of the rhodes-type instrument supporting the main piano. Great stuff!

Decided to join in to introduce myself, although i haven't made video game related music per se, i am kind of an enthusiastic EDM and Orchestral music producer. My genre has changed over the years as my skills (DAW usage, sound design, track build, effects) have gotten slightly better, virtual instrument libraries and hardware (PC specs) are better also and taste in music also has changed. Still merely learning on creating all genres and music in general though, and also lacking patience to fine tune my stuff as well, don't know what causes it, lack of spirit or something..

  18. Thanks! If only I was as happy about my track myself I really need to look into the mixing side of things and add the final recordings before I'm happy myself. Whistling was done by me, btw.

  19. Can't wait for BadAss 5: The Fifth Volume in the Increasingly Inaccurate BadAss Trilogy

  20. Wow, that sounds cool! I heard a WIP of Jorito's remix and it's sounding incredible now. Who did the whistling? Pl511's one sounds like Fire Emblem music haha, pretty nice. A shame my mix isn't in that list but I guess it's my fault for sitting on the 99% finished line for so long haha.

  21. I love the trailer, but... "the final Volume of the BadAss trilogy?" Hopefully someone will beat this Undead nightMare into more volumes!

  22. Let's do this. This is my transcription of the two verses. The actual tempo of Worlds Collide is 144 and Sephirot is 140 but I didn't bother with the sheet music. As you can see, the two riffs are essentially the same. The sephirot theme lacks the E note and augments the tonic's eighth note rhythm into complete quarter notes. It is basically the exact same riff and it's already in the same key too. The vocal style and lyrics are extremely similar, same 4 on the floor kick pattern and the synths and bass are both effected in similar ways. Here are the two verses together. I couldn't decide if I wanted to have them panned or left alone, so I did both in the same render. https://app.box.com/s/gd9c1k119kaqrdlduwytf3pxjknu6qbk If it were just the simple guitars, I wouldn't be so sold, but I believe that Soken knowingly copied the verses of a platinum-selling song. Same key, same riff, same vocal approach, same drums, etc. Let me guess, Robert Cop was a mistake too?

  27. I think I want to do something like what happened with Temporal Duality: one track was released on the game's anniversary, and the whole album was released a couple of moths later. In this case I'd like the remix of the most iconic tune to be released as a bithday present. If y'know what I mean

  28. We can promise *SOMETHING* related to BA3 on Monday... followed by something else, a week later. SO CRYPTIC. Larry's been sick and I'm wrapping up a grad class, but the evil... it is near.

  29. Just renewed my subscription to this game last night and today it was posted in the news that SE is having a music contest for Heavensward. People have until March 23 to complete their own rearrangement of "Night in the Brume" and record a video of themselves playing it. Unfortunately there are no cash prizes but there are a few tangible ones that will go to the grand prize winner and 3 Runners ups. Prizes Grand prize winner One (1) grand prize winner will be awarded the following prizes: One (1) decorative plaque signed by FINAL FANTASY XIV Sound Director Masayoshi Soken. One (1) in-game item package that includes one (1) Noble Barding chocobo barding, one (1) Ahriman Choker, one (1) Mandragora Choker, and one (1) Bluebird Earring. One (1) video message from FINAL FANTASY XIV Sound Director Masayoshi Soken to the winner Runners-up Up to three (3) runners-up will each be awarded the following prizes: One (1) “Heavensward: FINAL FANTASY XIV Original Soundtrack” poster signed by Sound Director Masayoshi Soken One (1) in-game item package that includes one (1) Noble Barding chocobo barding, one (1) Ahriman Choker, one (1) Mandragora Choker, and one (1) Bluebird Earring. 15 other will be rewarded in game items. Honorable mentions Up to fifteen (15) qualifying entrants selected for honorable mention will each be awarded the following: One (1) in-game item package which includes one (1) Ahriman Choker, one (1) Mandragora Choker, and one (1) Bluebird Earring. One potential snag is that the max length of the video can only be 2 minutes and 30 seconds so not much of a chance for a well developed ReMix for this compo but it's an awesome source and probably my favorite tune of the expansion. Yet another snag is that you must have an SE account to submit your arrangement and if you don't have an active game subscription for that account then that pretty much limits you to hoping for the grand prize.
