OC ReMix presents Final Fantasy V: The Fabled Warriors ~II. WATER~!! April 25, 2016 Contact: press@ocremix.org FAIRFAX, VA... OverClocked ReMix today released its 57th community arrangement album, Final Fantasy V: The Fabled Warriors ~II. WATER~. The album consists of nine arrangements of composer Nobuo Uematsu's original score to the 1992 Super Nintendo game, Final Fantasy V, developed and published by Square. It is available for free download at http://ff5.ocremix.org, and is the second of a planned series of five albums honoring the game's soundtrack. The long-awaited second volume of The Fabled Warriors, WATER finally arrives after OC ReMix's initial 2010 entry, WIND. WATER features eight artists employing mariachi, chiptune, rock, experimental, EDM, Middle Eastern, acoustic guitar, and Celtic elements into their musical tributes. The Fabled Warriors was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Square Enix; all original compositions are copyright their respective owners. "It's filled with awesome music from a really talented bunch of guys. I'm grateful that they've been so patient with me, and I'm happy that you're all going to finally hear their awesome arrangements," said Shariq "DarkeSword" Ansari, director and creator of the album series. The first four albums will follow the four crystals in the game, with themes arranged for all of the corresponding jobs, and the last album will cover new jobs introduced in the 2006 Game Boy Advance release, as well as serve as an endcap to the project. The artwork of The Fabled Warriors: Volume II, featuring Lenna as a representation of water, was designed by Maya "rnn" Petersen, who also created the art of For Everlasting Peace: 25 Years of Mega Man, OC ReMix's commercial album in partnership with Capcom. rnn also fashioned the artwork for OCR's Mario map theme EDM album Super Cartography Bros., and has been featured in UDON's series of video game tribute art books, including Mega Man Tribute. "Now that WATER is finally out, we're going to move on to putting together Volume III: FIRE. I've got big plans, and while it would be irresponsible of me to promise a release date, I will say that after everything I've learned about running all these albums over the years, things are going to move along at a better pace," Ansari affirmed. "Keep an eye out, and in the meantime, enjoy The Fabled Warriors: Volume II: WATER." Well, here it is, at long last. Kind of unbelievable that this is finally coming out. So why’d this thing take so long? What happened? Well, a lot happened, actually. I bought a house and moved out of my parents’ place. I started taking on more stuff at work. OCR got involved with the fighting game community and I started directing albums for tournaments. I started running my own remixing tournaments on OCR for series like Mega Man, and, speaking of Mega Man, I even worked with Capcom to direct OCR’s first commercial album. But with all this stuff going on, I also hit roadblocks creatively as a musician. I was still putting out tracks for the FGC albums, but I wanted my Mystic Knight track on this album to be something really great and bigger than what I’d done before. So I put things off until I could find time, and when I found time I couldn’t make it work creatively, and then I’d get busy again. Finally, it just got to be too much, and I said “I need to be able to tell people at MAGFest that it’s done.” So I sat down and, for a few nights in the week leading up to MAGFest, I pushed through all the creative roadblocks and finally got the track out. But of course, this album series is way more than my dumb track that took way too long to write. It’s filled with awesome music from a really talented bunch of guys. I’m grateful that they’ve been so patient with me, and I’m happy that you’re all going to finally hear their awesome arrangements. Now that WATER is finally out, we’re going to move on to putting together Volume III: FIRE. I’ve got big plans, and while it would be irresponsible of me to promise a release date, I will say that after everything I’ve learned about running all these albums over the years, things are going to move along at a better pace. Agree. Never should a man or a woman, think that there weren't room for improvement. Some things are made way too easy today also and therefore the skills of everyone are basically decreasing when there is no "need" to be better.. so to speak. But none should think like that. There is always room for improvement. Limitations are only physical1 point -

The tempo is 10 times faster as the Megalovania source, making it difficult to mix both sources in one source. That's why I didn't want to pick it as a source when it's the only one.1 point -

I can't check right now, but I think you could have right-clicked the CC you were editing from the FL browser and clicked "Init song with this position". EDIT: Okay, I can confirm that doing "Init song with this position" saves the parameter state so that opening the project again keeps the parameter where it is, even if it is MIDI CC. But you have to do that each time if you don't have an automation clip to do that for you. Also, that vibrato rate feels a little weird still. It's not something that is easy to make realistic, but now it feels too fast, and too constant. Try listening to the violin examples I showed you earlier and paying close attention to the vibrato rate.1 point -

It seems to me that leveling the charge of bandwagon mourning is just as bandwagon as bandwagon mourning itself; when it comes to something like this, I think it's MUCH better to give people the benefit of the doubt... if you're wrong about someone else's grief or sense of loss, you're the douche of the decade, whereas if they're expressing disproportionate, uninformed, or insincere sadness, they're just being transiently emotional... Unless you're psychic, maybe just either empathize or be quietly skeptical?1 point

Thanks everyone who posted a WIP on the private subforum! Please share feedback on the WIPs, guys, don't just leave it up to me! Let's make a nice little community effort out of it. I'm thinking the next good WIP date may be June 20th, unless anyone has objections. That's a little over 2 months worth of time to put into a nice WIP or even a finished mix. If anyone specifically asked me for feedback, please hold on until I do so, life is pretty busy sometimes1 point -

That sounds good. Have you put the final version of that mix on the subforum? That would be a good place to put it. I can give feedback on it as soon as I can, about to get ready and leave for work.1 point -

OC ReMix presents Heart of a Gamer: A Tribute to Satoru Iwata December 6, 2015 Contact: press@ocremix.org FAIRFAX, VA..."On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." -- Satoru Iwata (1959-2015) On what would have been Satoru Iwata's 56th birthday, OverClocked ReMix pays tribute to the late game developer and president & CEO of Nintendo with the community's latest album, Heart of a Gamer: A Tribute to Satoru Iwata. Iwata was a gigantic figure in the world of video games whose loss was felt throughout the gaming community and around the world on July 11th of this year. Heart of a Gamer features six tracks from eight artists arranging themes from eight soundtracks of games developed or contributed to by Satoru Iwata, a man whose life work was making the world a better & brighter place through video games. Organized by director Gerry "The Damned" Wheatley, and featuring artwork of Iwata surrounded by characters of games he worked on by Davy "Odai" Owen, Heart of a Gamer is available for free download at http://ocremix.org/info/Heart_of_a_Gamer:_A_Tribute_to_Satoru_Iwata. The album's selection of games from Satoru Iwata's career includes: Super Smash Bros. Melee & Brawl Kirby's Adventure Rollerball Nintendo Land & Balloon Fight EarthBound; and Pokémon Gold Version. "Whether in front of a computer monitor or a boardroom of investors, Iwata's love of games were what came first," observed director Gerry Wheatley. "His devotion to his company was never truer when, in financial trouble, he took a pay cut to make sure his employees were safe. When his colleagues were in need, he lent his time and skill to save their games. He wasn't just another name in the credits. He was truly part of the team." Heart of a Gamer marks Gerry Wheatley's second directorial effort for OC ReMix. His first directed album in 2011, Pokémon: The Missingno Tracks, also honored a game franchise critically influenced and assisted by Satoru Iwata. If there was ever an artist on here who can put a smile on my face it's worldsbestgrandpa. I know this sounds hokey, but when I hear these remixes I feel like I'm sitting right next to worldsbestgrandpa, in a basement or on a street corner, just listening in with a huge grin on my face. The music just seems so welcoming, it's probably just the nature of the accordion....I really can describe it. I'm just a huge fan of immersive music and I hope worldsbestgrandpa sticks around!!!1 point
