  1. ouch ouch ouch. The samples need some serious improvement here. The arrangement was a step in the right direction, but the arpeggios were close to making my brain explode.
  2. Cool intro, with some very creative arrangement throughout. The production is really cluttered, as everything seems to be smashed into one tiny frequency band, which limits the mix a bit. I actually had to activly listen for the prelude parts within the mix, and they are definitely there, but it may be a few listens. Very creative work, just wish the production was there.
  3. I'm pretty torn on this mix. The good is how the sections are mixed up, making each new section a surprise as to what it'll be next. The drums are effective, if a bit treble heavy, and the source is easily my favorite track from Chrono Trigger. The bad, however is that besides the added drums and rearranged/repeated sections, the only thing keeping this from being a high quality midi rip is the fact that random chords throughout are randomly changed. The new chord often doesnt support the melody or harmony in any real way, and just ends up sounding confused. Decent but not awesome.
  4. Lot of interesting textures and melodies throughout, this mix is very good despite a few significant flaws. First, it is overly treble heavy, giving it an ultra-compressed sound. Also, there is a synth in there that is Ba-ba-ba-bad. You'll know it when you hear it. Pretty annoying, but there is enough going on otherwise to take attention away from it. The ethereal synths and electro sounds are really strong, and there is a pretty nice synth brass as well. A little heavy on the cheese, but worth a download for sure.
  5. Repetitive with a few serious EQ issues, mainly the ultra piercing synth that comes in when the bass drops out for a section. Ouch. ;_; There are some cool arrangement ideas that keep it fresh throughout, like the bass-heavy breakdown, but nothing really new is added to the mix, just sections that feature specific elements of the song. It's pretty easy to see why this song is mixed so often, but I'm not sure this mix really lives up to the original.
  6. If you like the first 15 seconds of this a lot, you'll like the remaining 3 minutes, because nothing really changes. The definition of driving, there are no drum fills to speak of, and the song primarily features the looped drums and the tick tock bell part. The melody is pretty buried, and there isn't much arrangement to speak of. It's good for awhile, and the sounds set a nice mood, but it's lack of direction and creativity keep this one from going far.
  7. Though the soundscape is a bit muddy, and the ending is really weak and abrupt, this mix has a lot of cool stuff going for it. It has a relaxed feeling, and there are several structure surprises, including some well thought out chord changes that deviate from the original, and really make this mix unique. With a little cleaning up of the sections and a proper ending this would be a timeless mix, but as is, it is still very enjoyable, and has aged incredibly well.
  8. Quality synths, but way too generic melodically for my tastes. The drums lacked punch, but had well programmed fills, and the beat overall was nice. The computer voice was not overused, which is rare for mixes, so the restraint shown was refreshing. Not one for my playlist, but the quality is apparent in the craftsmanship of the track.
  9. Symphony X - The Odyssey Opeth - Blackwater Park Any Rhapsody albums if you can stand the cheese
  10. The iphone looks totally badass and amazing but there's no way I could justify spending even a fraction of that cash on a phone/blackberry/whatever. I'd rather spend the money on something more important to me. That being said, no other gadget has looked as appealing as this has to me; not even close.
  11. It says you retain all rights, I see no reason why not. PS. the answer is yes.
  12. looks like lots of fun, hopefully I can attend next year. I demand more photos to entertain me at work tomorrow! Minions, bring them forth!
  13. Garageband itself is fine, but instead of the expansions, I suggest just getting some free soundfonts. Though I agree Garageband isn't the best program for doing tons of crazy stuff, it is very solid and great to learn from.
  14. All of them were awesome, but I have to say I was really blown away by Malcos. And I mean like "holy fucking shit" levels of blown away. I hope you guys do this again eventually, seeing the results is really inspiring.
  15. I'm not digging the ending, but the rest is great. I suggest adding a more proper ending, and bass wouldnt hurt, as long as it was subtle. I don't think drums would improve this, so I suggest staying away from them. Nice mix, it's really good.
  16. The mix is decent, but it honestly feels like a paint-by-numbers (mix-by-numbers?)excercise to me rather than an inspired piece of music. The synths are decent but a bit bland, and the drums are similar. There is a little interpretation, but mostly it is just a technofied version of the source.
  17. ace combat 4, 5, and zero uncharted waters 2 all are fantastic.
  18. I've decided to roll a BE pally and take him all the way to 70. So far my prep farming has included a ton of mail armor and 2h weapons level 10-30. I've thrown fiery on a few of the weapons, including a level 1 vendor trash 1h mace to power through 1-10. I have a ton of potions and sharpening stones as well. Never thought i'd be a powerlevel dude, but here I am.
  19. I have to agree that I dislike the intro, but the song really does get very, very good. The very last part is beyond fantastic, and I only wished it had come sooner, and more often. Production wasn't astounding, but it served the song well enough, and the sounds used meshed well.
  20. A little too empty to be effective, in my opinion. The source was there, but the best parts were left out. SOmeone mentioned rapping over this, and I totally see it, because not only would it fit well, it would provide the main interest this song needs.
  21. Wow, this really impressed me. Not only does the track have a ton of personality, but there was also a lot of variation. The bass and drums are fantastic, and the little touches like the harmonics and panning round this track out to be one of the coolest mixes i've heard in awhile. Super recommended.
  22. This really needs a sound upgrade, because underneath the midi sounds, there is something that is substantial. For the first few listens, the song seems to just be a random collection of motifs, but after awhile, you start to hear how everything is connected. The ending is a bit strange and abrupt, but it doesn't detract from the quirky feel of the song as a whole.
  23. Fast and fun, I really enjoyed this remix. The toned percussion is great on all counts, well programmed and high quality samples, it really sets this piece apart from the rest. I admit being aprehensive by the name of the game; what the hell is a William wobbler anyways? I know now the error of my ways, check out the mix, you'll like it.
  24. I really like the drums in this one, though I wish the talking samples would be cut. Nothing ruins a mix faster, IMO, not even synth distorted guitar.
  25. There is some nice interpretation here with a solo cello adding some unique melodic touches, and things are looking up, but then the "guitar" comes in, and it's so tinny it hurts my ears. Beforehand was decent, though some of the string samples weren't very good, though they were used pretty well. Enjoy the first half of the mix, but beware...
