Radical Dreamers: Thieves of Fate - History
OceansAndrew replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in Projects
I'd say only moderately kinky, however. -
OCR01551 - Parasite Eve "Beauty's Abomination"
OceansAndrew replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I don't remember the original very well so any comparisons I may have made are moot, but as a piece of music, it stands alone very well. I love the sublties of piano remixes, and this one definitely delivers, Buildup before the end has a lot of drama and everything throughout is well played. Nice work, i dig it. -
OCR01552 - Chrono Cross "Dreaming Still"

I really don't like the beats in the middle, but the rest is sublime; Great atmosphere and attention to detail in the vocals. Beautiful work throughout. The beat at the end is nice, so I wish we'd heard a bit more of that, and that filtered high hat makes me all nostalgic. The lyrics are great, and if it wasn't for the drums throughout the middle, i'd say it was perfect. Still as is, it's a great song, nice work. -
I am happily surprised that my friends and I are not the only ones who see the excellence in laser camel. That mofo had better be in smash bros. brawl or I am gonna be pissed.

OCR00469 - Final Fantasy VII "Seven Degrees of Judgment"
OceansAndrew replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I *love* the drums, but the rest of the mix is just a sonic mess. Nothing stands out and it ends up sounding like some percussion set to a random droning chord. The ending lets up a bit so you can hear what is going on, and it's very nce, but then it abruptly ends halfway through a note. :/ -
OCR00862 - Ultima Online "Create Deconstruct"
OceansAndrew replied to DarkCecil13's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The strings are nice, but the midi guitar is not. :/ I found this to be a little boring, honestly. There wasn't really anything that caught my ear, except for the synth that came in about a quarter of the way through, and it caught my ear because as cool as it sounded, it didn't fit with the rest of the mix. -
OCR00280 - Art of Fighting 2 "Match with Yuri"
OceansAndrew replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Is this the mortal kombat theme? The mixing is way loud, and the sounds are pretty default; There are some cool parts, but overall not enough for me to keep it. Sorry, not a huge fan. -
OCR00233 - Final Fantasy VII "Neoteric Assembly"
OceansAndrew replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I really like the percussion in this, though the synths seem a little weak overall. The synth guitar has a nice texture, but is a bit loud compared to the percussion. It really does give the original a boost of unexpected energy, and it the production was slightly different, it'd be a lot more enjoyable for me, as the arrangement is nice. -
OCR00416 - Radical Dreamers "Dark Promise"
OceansAndrew replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
A bit bland overall, it has a few new cool ideas, and nice percussion, but overall it is a little too similar to the original. The mood is well done, but it's not near as interpretive as it could be. I would have appreciated The music box and pizzicato strings are well sequenced, and the textures provided by the percussion make this more than a straight sound upgrade. -

Wow guys, thanks for all the positive comments! I really appreciate them, and I am super psyched that you guys like my mix for the most part. The song is called Victory!~ The first victory and it's a great track. You guys can check out the original here: http://oceansend.com/5502/rockp3/collab/25%20Victory!%20~%20The%20First%20Victory.mp3 -
OCR00247 - Final Fantasy VII "Ancient Steps Retraced"
OceansAndrew replied to m68030's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
THe drums here are awesome, the feel is great and the processing on them is very fitting. The old skool lead synth is a little too cheesy for this I think, and the strings early on got a bit repetitive, but later on in the song, things got mixed up with some syncopation and made it interesting again. -
OCR00170 - Final Fantasy VII "Cid (Solace Simplicity)"
OceansAndrew replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I am not feeling the drums on this at all. The sounds themselves are fine, but the part doesn't mesh with the music, making it sound like 2 songs that happen to be the same tempo being played at the same time. This could go places, but not in it's current state. Pretty obvious that it's an early mix. -
I'm not sure I could even call this a WIP. :/ It is way too basic, and is pretty much a midi rip slowed down slightly. Not a fan. Sorry.

OCR00440 - Final Fantasy VII "Aeris Summer Samba"
OceansAndrew replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Very creative work! Some of the synth instruments are a little on the weak side, and I think the intro is a bit too long, but once the theme comes in, it's pretty refreshing. I thought the ending went on a little too long as well, but there was some good arrangement right before it. -
OCR00813 - Final Fantasy IV "Echoes at a Distance"
OceansAndrew replied to Ginnsu's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Very clean production, this is very easy on the ears. The percussion was very nice, and the soundfield was well filled out. The transition to the strings was nice, but shortly afterwards, the ending arrived, and it was way too abrupt. Overall very cool and had a very distinct feel. Check it out, IMO. -

Their server has issues staying up. I was on there last night so I am pretty sure I have it cached. If I can pull it up, i'll host it for you. I just hit 40 last night, so I know I have the 31-40 and 41-50 pages.

The flute is a little too piercing, but otherwise the song is awesome, great transitions, and a very nice arrangement. The mix overall seemed to be crammed into a small sonic space and could use a little more room, but it doesn't detract that much from the overall mix too much. Great creativity, I like it a lot.

OCR00120 - Castlevania "Vampire Killer (Deadcorpse)"
OceansAndrew replied to Jivemaster's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
WHile I dig a lot of the distorted synth sounds, this really suffers from a lack of space for each instruments. The "key change" at the end is a thumbs down. After a few extra listens, I appreciate the synth tone a lot more, but also dislike the lack of arrangement even more, so with repeated listens, the strengths get stronger, and the weaknesses become more apparant. Kind of interesting actually. -
OCR00370 - Parasite Eve "Primal Eyes (Tapeworm)"
OceansAndrew replied to Saunders's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
There are some pretty cool sounds used, but in the end I think it's a bit too repetitive and droning. Some of the midrange synths are incredible, but the high range ones don't match at all. There's a decent amount of breakdowns and buildups, but there isn't enough melody to carry this to the finish line. -
OCR00531 - Final Fantasy "Trancelude"
OceansAndrew replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Though well produced, with good sounding synths, this is way too repetative for my taste. The main draw for the original is lost, as the chord progression is what made the song for me, and here it is absent. I have a hard time "grooving to the music" when the music itself is so watered down. Sorry, I don't like this at all. -
OCR00072 - Chrono Trigger "Belthasar"
OceansAndrew replied to Joe Redifer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The drums are really the main standout here, as they demand attention, and the rest of the mix is alright with complying. Though I do like the direction the mix goes in, it just seems like the melodic aspect of the song is held back by the domination of the beat. Rather than tone the beat back though, i think the melody should be pumped up to match. -
OCR00143 - Mega Man 2 "Bubble Man (Electron Mix)"
OceansAndrew replied to Jivemaster's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Sounds like a midi rip with drums added, but the drums sound decent at least for what it is.
