  1. Dunno if july would be early or late to respond to your request, but I'll try to cook something up by then. Also, I would luv to see an early video footage of your Prime HD remake, cause the screenshot seems promising...
  2. A - Self-trained Started basically doing some simple electro and hip-hop beat-making, and made my way to other style during the course of years. But even while not playing any real instruments, there's still a lot to learn with DAWs & hardware always evolving. Also, most of sound processing is being done with a computer in the final phases of production (mixing & mastering). So while it doesn't replace any formal musical training, it's always useful to have some knowledge in that domain.
  3. I'm up for the challenge! Being a big fan of the compos at thasauce, plus my DAW will be reborn just in time. The concept sounds great, you can count me in. ...if sign-up apllies to non-veteran remixers too, of course!
  4. HAPPY: Try to be less awesome this time around, so that we, poor misguided fools, at least got a chance in life!
  5. Just re-finished it some days ago. Can't resist...
  6. (from Cowboy Bebop OST Future Blues)Can't get it out of my head...
  7. Best ...Sequel ...Ever. On another note, anyone here excited about the last news from the long-running Metal Gear Philantropy? For those who do not know, they're a bunch of nice italians fellas, making a low-budget fan-made MGS movie. Movie that already made hollywood look like a bunch of sissies. You can see evidence of that here. So now they're in the middle of post-production, chillin' and editing the titles. While out of the blue, they got Aoife Ferry, singer of "The Best is yet to Come" from MGS1 to actually sing their ending theme. Fan-Made-Project get the singer from the real game ...How fucking awesome is that?
  8. Congrats on your achievments Robo! Be aware that medical courses are some of the most time consuming out there. Soooo.... ...Now please go and finish some of your remixes before life swallows you back again! Cheers!
  9. Nice v2 John. Subtle but integral enhancements. I'm diggin' this! Now for the crits: -The background is kind of empty at the very begining. You could add some subtle napes in there. -Agree that it could use a bit more boosting of the lead, maybe even add another lead melody. -Seems like some parts are missing a whole range of low frequencies. -The addition of ambient texture might help making the mix more meaty somehow. The pros: -Drum prod is really impressive, nearly impecable. -The mix sounds very clean now. Keep it up! Waiting for the next update.
  10. As the site will get more and more members, gathers more newcomers & aspiring remixers, it will inevitably get harder for dedicated WIP reviewers to focus on being fair & helpful. Because there'll be a flood of low & average quality work in this section, and so little real talent to come out of the crowd. That's the ransom of the success, even though being popular here rarely brings any kind of financial compensation... But after all, why should we ask for any? We're all here out of passion, and in an eternal quest to better ourselves at understanding each other throught a creative art process. And maybe in the course of the events, we'll join effort in the making of a better place for you and for me, and the entire human race... Got that right! But while I consider myself swimming in the low & average part of the pool, I still won't give up on making some 'fantasticular' music someday! ...and maybe even get paid for it, if I'm lucky.
  11. Do you have any idea how long making a song takes? I don't think it would be very practical (nor fun) to watch someone working on an entire piece. Even if breaked in chapters...that would be a lot of stuff, and imply a lot of organization on the recording too. It sounds difficult to cover every nook and crany in specific video tutorials, dunno if that's what you're going for Zephyr... What would be useful for everyone, would be to simply categorize the requests, like 'beginner', 'advanced', etc., and then add the tags to the video. I'm not using FL fyi, but I can appreciate the effort Zeph is making here. I know it's kind of easier to get it when watching a video with clear visual demonstration, than when reading 10 pages of detailed technical explanations. So I hope his tutorials help as many people as possible. Cheers!
  12. Hey Bundeslang, your disguised youtube link didn't worked for me, as it isn't really a youtube link. Anyway, here one in case other people have the same problem with the truveo thing: .Won't be able to enter cause my DAW is dead (until june I'm afraid), but I will be voting as usual. Hope to see some fierce competition like the last round! oh, and I lol'd at your egoraptor reference in the topic title.
  13. It really is 5 minutes of greatness. I was expecting guitar wankery here, and I wasn't disapointed. It has kind of a Castlevania-esque feeling to it ...mixed with a bit of James Bond too. Some instruments or textures sound a bit fake compared to other, so it's a bit irregular here and there. But its an epic and well structured take on the source. As I was reading through comments, I've noticed on page 1 that Protricity is banned... really?!. I mean, I don't know the story, but it's too bad, as he's got talent. Anyway, nice 'Haunted Chase' remix.
  14. Basically, you're pointing to the fact that you put absolutely no value in your own work. Which is not the most appropriate way to appeal to recruiters to say the least. And simply not the way the real world works. To make a parallel with a game, you're at square one. Don't try to fight the last battle if you haven't proved you can at least hold a weapon. That weapon is called: common sense. Good luck in your musical projects.
  15. To me, the recording ends up being way faster than original. But it only occurs when I've got like 15 VST tracks not yet rendered. Whether the recording is in 16 or 24 bit doesn't make a difference sadly. Neither does the latency tweaking and Asio driver. Sometimes I even got some tempo change mid-song, and other strange time signatures artifacts. This is indeed infuriating, so I opted for another wave editor, and since no more problems.
  16. Thankfully I can always count on my good buddy Gario to help me pass for the most friendless person in the world. :lmassoff:

Thanks again, I owe you one! Oh, and nice sig by the way...

  17. The Museum Stage BGM from Rockman & Forte is a personal favorite. As a matter of fact, I'm right in the middle of remixing it too... Yet, I can't believe that to this day, this is the only remix from that game on OCR. Anyway, nice introduction, I was unsuspecting till the beat started. This arrangement is very true to the source, in the way that it follows the original melodic structure faithfully. Yet the new textures and melodies add a lot to the mix. I like how the new material blends-in at 2:45. The arrangement enhances the song with faster tempo and punchy drum/synth sequence combo... Its like a musical powerup when you think about it. Somehow, it sounds more like some of the recent work on the serie, namely Rockman Exe or Rockman Zero. All things considered, this is pretty decent remix, and I liked it.
  18. Allright! Time to support this joint! June being Boss month, it will be a pretty auspicious time for making some more kick-ass boss remixes. In the meantime, I made a provisory banner for anyone interested in supporting/advertising for the project. The Joker approved the art so here we go: Don't forget to link it to the 'Badass' thread too!
  19. I remember this game as one of my favorite shmup for the snes, with R-type III, Area88 and Pop'n Twinbee. The remix totally contrasts with the fast paced original. Certainly wasn't expecting that take on the source, but its all for the better this way. The laid back, jazzy atmosphere perfectly fits a city scenery at night. I love how the groove is so subtle, with simple drums & bassline, but really have a life of its own. The vibe is an obvious choice when considering the style, but is used so rarely in game remixes that this makes it pure genius. Very nice mix.
  20. Actually you really made it sound like Viklund's remixes, that's great! The drum work is sick, and the synths & bass are really cool. Only complain for me is that the EQ is a little strong on the High frequencies. You should absolutely finish this as: 1-it is very nice atm, while a little short. 2-we need more Bionic Commando luv around here. Keep up the fine work!
  21. Ah, you're finally going to make some serious website with serious remixes and all! I'm not the wordpress-savy guy unfortunately, but I'm sure you'll find some help on the boards. Maybe you should've posted into help & newbie?
  22. Yep that's the one I was talking about! Thx Gollgagh.
  23. Knowing the release date now makes it more manageable for people who'll want to join. Here are some questions to help you find musicians fitting your criteria: -What level of quality are you expecting in the music production? Average, professional? -Is there any pre-requisites to join the project? -Other than the 6 specific tracks, do you need any main theme of some sort? -Do you need something else, like music for a demo-trailer for exemple? Hoping this helps you find all the composers you need.
  24. I'm wondering where it'll be better to post your midi... In Requests, another person already did that and successfully found people to help him. Or you could post in the Workshop 'remixes' if it's a remix, or in 'others' if it's not. And basically ask for the people to help you give life to your track. Ultimately, if none of the previous work (which I doubt) you can still contact a remixer whose work you like, and ask him/her personally. Hope this helps.
