  1. I remember this game as one of my favorite shmup for the snes, with R-type III, Area88 and Pop'n Twinbee. The remix totally contrasts with the fast paced original. Certainly wasn't expecting that take on the source, but its all for the better this way. The laid back, jazzy atmosphere perfectly fits a city scenery at night. I love how the groove is so subtle, with simple drums & bassline, but really have a life of its own. The vibe is an obvious choice when considering the style, but is used so rarely in game remixes that this makes it pure genius. Very nice mix.
  2. Actually you really made it sound like Viklund's remixes, that's great! The drum work is sick, and the synths & bass are really cool. Only complain for me is that the EQ is a little strong on the High frequencies. You should absolutely finish this as: 1-it is very nice atm, while a little short. 2-we need more Bionic Commando luv around here. Keep up the fine work!
  3. Ah, you're finally going to make some serious website with serious remixes and all! I'm not the wordpress-savy guy unfortunately, but I'm sure you'll find some help on the boards. Maybe you should've posted into help & newbie?
  4. Yep that's the one I was talking about! Thx Gollgagh.
  5. Knowing the release date now makes it more manageable for people who'll want to join. Here are some questions to help you find musicians fitting your criteria: -What level of quality are you expecting in the music production? Average, professional? -Is there any pre-requisites to join the project? -Other than the 6 specific tracks, do you need any main theme of some sort? -Do you need something else, like music for a demo-trailer for exemple? Hoping this helps you find all the composers you need.
  6. I'm wondering where it'll be better to post your midi... In Requests, another person already did that and successfully found people to help him. Or you could post in the Workshop 'remixes' if it's a remix, or in 'others' if it's not. And basically ask for the people to help you give life to your track. Ultimately, if none of the previous work (which I doubt) you can still contact a remixer whose work you like, and ask him/her personally. Hope this helps.
  7. Rig1015, for some reason that method just now seemed a little complicated... I think what some are trying to say, is that you will have to pass through this less-fun 'picking some gear & learning how to use it' phase. At least if you really want to get to were you intended to go. This is an unavoidable but necessary effort, but you'll be glad you've put some time in it later. Whether or not you decide to give your midis to your friend so he can enhance them for you, know that there are lots of people here on OCR up for collab and willing to help you getting started. So if you really want to start remixing, with whatever budget you have, then go for it. The only thing that really matter is the desire to put your thoughts in motion, to create, and having fun while doing so.
  8. Hell yeah! Another Yahtzee delightful chronicle! Coop you were awfully fast on spotting this one! thx.
  9. Oh sorry, I forgot to mention that I resized it so it wouldn't take over the entire page here! The original reso is 644x644 fyi.
  10. Luke, where are your MM4 wips? It may come from the recent re-arrangement of the forums... But concerning the Remixing forum, it's more or less due to the lack of proper organization in general (exept for FL studio), which might confuse a new user. To other users, since they know more or less how to make music, they only look it up when in need of precise information on a specific matter. Which lead me to think there may be a need/way to split the remixing forum in two: beginner and advanced. Maybe the beginner part with tutorials & basic questions could be in the Newbie section. While the advanced part & more specific thread (EQ, mastering, filters) could be in the Remixing (or advanced remixing for that matter). Dunno, just throwing ideas here.
  11. I dunno if Capcom is planning an HD remix of Megaman2 (preferably NOT Powered-up this time). But if they end-up making it, that's what the new Metal Man's stage BGM should sound like. Because it is indeed a great re-invention of the theme. The synth work is brillant, and really diversifies the mix. Luv the distorted guitars-synth. I particularly like the breaks at around 1:45 and 2:48 when it quiets down, and subtely re-build the tension before the dynamic rythmic parts make their come back. There's also some nice background pad that add depth to the mix, making it an even more immersive experience. While staying true to the essence of the original metalman, it amplifies the energy and vision of the theme. Overall great arrangement.
  12. Personally I use this: It's an art someone made on OCR some time ago, I just modded it a little bit. I thought it was fitting the purpose pretty well until now.
  13. I made some more banners ...sorry, I can't help it! (Should you decide to include one of these, you can ditch the big image from 1st post, it's on page 20 anyway)
  14. Not at all. Did I missed a lot? Things are pretty ectic: some are still claiming it's legitimate, and other believe it...
  15. How mythomaniac & delusional the guy have got to be to cook something like that?
  16. UPDATE v4. Check the first post! Basicaly trying to put down the song while fixing stuff wasn't the right approach. So I decided to try and get the structure done first (intro-verse-bridge-break-etc). Then when the whole map thing will be put down, I will concentrate on EQ & mastering. v4 Log: -I tried to adress the latest issues mentioned, while mainly focusing on song structure. -I totally suppressed the distorition fx on the guitar, that was causing the piercing sound. -Extended track to 3:48, lenghtened the break, tweaked the last part -Thanks to Gario I've discovered that my PC mixer was panned 1 bar left. So everything I'd made so far had that flaw. I would have never noticed otherwise, so thx! Any constructive feedback would be helpful, as usual!
  17. Since I don't think everyone's got a netbook handy to surf on OCR at any given time, a mobile/smartphone version might be very appealing to some. +1 for an Hardware/Software sub-forum nicely moderated & filled with interesting reviews. It would be great to have something separate & organized, to find good gear or software in order to get a good headstart.
  18. @Jaybell: links are down, but I'll try and manage to send some WIPs your way. Don't be sorry, I know you didn't meant to be rude, you were just being honnest. That's cool, so don't worry, I get you man, I really do. But as mentioned, it wasn't intended to be a musical masterpiece. Merely a response to a fan's request that has been unanswered for years. Well at least I'm trying, and most importantly I'm having fun doing it. Also since it seems some people do appreciate it as is, I'll continue as planned. Everyone is welcome to join the fun here if they want, and remix some Headdy. EDIT: I won't be able to remix anything till early June, since sadly, my music computer unexpectedly died on me.
  19. Wow this is sad, I made a fanfare for this. It seemed pretty real, as all other CT projects were dropped at the same time.
  20. Not too long ago, Will gave me a link to his remix of Green Hill Zone from Sonic. Upon listening, I told him that the force in his music is that he's got his own unique style to it. When I pressed play this time around, it wasn't any different. At 0:25 into the song, I already knew I was in for a treat. While retaining the spirit of the original, it expands the horizon with the audacious clash of genres. I luved the chord progression, drum pattern, pitch modulation and overall work on soundscape. This song is overflowing with synth goodness, mixed with a distinctive 80s flavor. So here, Link's dream almost tasted like a sweet candy drop from childhood. This remix is the living proof that what counts is not necessarily samples, but talent. And Willrock's got plenty of that. Congrats on your first (and certainly not last) posted remix. Great Tal Tal Mountain revisit.
  21. This is gonna be pure hotness! The instrumental is already rock-solid, it could fit in an espionnage movie as it is. Awaiting the vocal part with anticipation.
  22. Yeah, and he also shouldn't forget to work on his nice 'Veiled in Secrecy' track. Overall Dj moKrow is a pretty cool guy.
  23. Ah Ada's theme... A fond memory of the only game that I've completed 43 times already (mainly due to speedrunning in fact). It kicks off in the exact same spirit as the original: atmospheric nape, & flute. Flute whose cheap sound buged me at begining. But I quickly forgot about it when the low pad, piano & synth joined the fun. Nice modulation right off the bat, and soon after enters the biggest addition to the original : drums. A perfectly fitting pattern of what I suspect to be a mix of D&B + Jungle. It gives the song so much energy, with the intervention of multiple synth, and a delightful near-sub bass. I loved how the whole soundscape got filled progressively, then slowly emptied, only to come back to life shortly thereafter. With the exeption of some very minor saturations mainly due to the flute, this is a wonderful arrangement. I enjoyed it a lot, even if it was way too short. Despite that, it is one of my favorite OCremix to date.
  24. WASi303 - Select (from Psyvariar2 soundtrack plus)
  25. Seen as they're planning to reward winners with ACID products, it might very well be the case.
