Progressive house that builds up and up and up slowly, yet steadily, I can dig it. When it comes to Pokemon, TGH treats the sources right and does justice every single time, it seems. While long and steady, I never got bored with this ReMix, which is what you like to see in mixes like this. Not bad, TGH.

OCR02800 - StarCraft II "Broken Wings"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Very moody and coldly beautiful. I love how the RWTS compo works on helping others polish and build on their musical abilities, and combines the experience of other ReMixers to create sweet songs like this. Lots of emotion and atmosphere, but the main melody just keeps you glued in. Damn good track, keep it up guys. -
OCR02801 - Pokémon Diamond Version "Snowflakes in Her Hair"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Oh yeah, this is a wonderful ReMix for the holidays and Winter time. Chill, but with some upbeatness that fits this time of year, like in a snow covered town, where you have more action but can still enjoy the peacefulness. I think this ReMix is a great picture of that, in my opinion. Nice job. -
Chimpazilla is on a roll, getting up to Judge and getting posted all within a month! Congrats again! As for the mix, yeah, you could nitpick lots of things, but for the things I liked, I really enjoyed the ambient bird noises that come and go and loved the atmosphere of the entire mix. You nailed that "Foresty Woods" vibe 100%. Great job to all three of you for this nice track.

*Unloads another few rounds* ......and a Happy New Year. *Single shot.* Yeah, Happy Holidays and all that great stuff, everyone!

Don't care what anyone may say, Stevo has a good singing voice for these lighter songs, and this ReMix has a ton of heart because of it. Brigg's chiptunes that sorta fly all around the mix just seems to make it that much more magical. Wonderful ReMix of Rainbow Road.

OCR02796 - Final Fantasy VI "Black Genesis"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
There's definitely a menacing edge to this ReMix. DJP said that this had an "apocalyptic carnival" vibe, and I'm going to agree with that description. Awesome work, both of you! -
OCR01143 - F-Zero "Silent Progression"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Piano isn't necessarily the first thing I think of when I think of F-Zero, but when played right, it can be used on just about anything from what I've heard. And JJT executes it's beauty all over this ReMix. Age certainly doesn't seem to be a factor for this track, and everything has held up as well as one could hope for. Maybe I'll get around to actually playing more of F-Zero, but until then, I can just listen to this wonderful piece. -
OCR02458 - Wild Arms "East Meets Western"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
After hearing the intro, I wasn't expecting this to pick up as much as it did, but from acoustic beauty to energy filled beats, this is like a truck starting off slow and then just taking off and then slowing back down like a tanker. The switch to the slower, acoustic end from the upbeat middle section is a tad unusual, but nothing that bothered me too much. Not bad. -
Happy Swordday, man!

OCR02454 - Final Fantasy "Fierce Fairground Fight"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
That hard intro into the fairground/carnival music and back into the hard guitars was pretty sweet. All three sources seem to blend together cohesively, which is a thing of beauty for a ReMix. Appropriately named, well produced and enjoyable to listen to. Damn good addition to this album. -
OCR02453 - Final Fantasy "Dance of Descent"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Really impressive for a ReMix that has a medley-worth of songs. While I do agree that there are things that you could pick on if you so choose to (some sample, guitars, whatever), I think this is just about as good as you can get for a mix that tackles so much in just over six minutes. Awesome work, guys. -
Happy birthday there, fella! Have yourself a fantastic day!

OCR02452 - Final Fantasy "Secrets Abound"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I love this take on Matoya's Cave, I really do. It's certainly an album favorite for me, and good for a cheer up when needed with it's upbeat direction. Very clean, great rocking energy and yet still light and happy which fits a "journey adventure" vibe. Nice work, man. -
OCR02451 - Final Fantasy "The First Story"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
The prelude theme is one of those sources that amaze me with all the different ways ReMixers have found to ReMix and rearrange it without getting stale and finding a new way to present it. BONKERS adds to the list with this pretty cool metal take on it that not only rearranges it, but does it for over six minutes, which can't be that easy to do with this theme, I'd guess, and I have to say that the breakdown in the middle fits so well with the rest of the ReMix. Just when you think you've beaten this source to death, someone picks it up and takes it further. Nicely done, BONKERS. -
Congrats DJP and the rest of the Pretzel Clan! Best wishes to your family on this joyous occasion!

OCR02456 - Final Fantasy "Just Passing Through"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Wonderful chiptune ReMix. Sounds like classic Ben Briggs style and while it took it's sweet time to come out in full swing from the intro, the wait was worth it for this cool take on the Town. Pretty good job on this. -
OCR02455 - Final Fantasy "Onward (The Travelin' Song)"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is unbelievably catchy and I really liked the lightheartedness of it, even if it does have a nice change with the "Gimme F" parts. The banter in between the singing almost reminds me of RvB style jokes and the melody just stays with you. Yeah, catchy and fun and totally recommended for those with a sense of humor. -
OCR02464 - Final Fantasy VII & VIII "Duel of the Blades"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
To hear someone try to change things up while ReMixing One Winged Angel is such a breath of fresh air. Not that I have anything against mixes that stick closer to the original structure, but it's just neat to hear something a little different from time to time. Probably not my favorite take on either theme, but it was a damn good go at using them both together and a ReMix I can certainly enjoy and appreciate. Not bad, man. -
Ooooh, man, so smooth! Wonderful R&B arrangement of one of my favorite sources from Xenogears. I feel like this ReMix has enough emotion to almost have a soul of it's own, if you get my drift. Just good feelings from this all around.

OCR02460 - Ecco: The Tides of Time (GEN) "Hypnotica"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ecco certainly seems to lend itself to surprisingly dark or action filled ReMixes. This one has an awesome industrial sound to it and while I can see where this might have raised a tiny eyebrow or two, I think it works. Not bad. -

OCR02795 - Sonic the Hedgehog 2 "Ethereal Skies"
Crulex replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Sure, there is a lot of reverb, but it doesn't quite bother me that much. Lovely playing and a very cool OCR debut. Nice and short, this ReMix hits the spot.
