  1. What the hell did I just hear? That was my childhood being raped. The first ten seconds were a nice intro, but that's it. I'm not a huge fan of dubstep, but I think the wubs overpower the song. When PrototypeRaptor did Nullification, he allowed the booming sections to mix evenly with the actual tune. My message for anyone remixing this song: avoid the actual source if you can. Almost every single remix of this song that uses the original source fails. The only exception is .I'll wait and see how this develops, but this needs a LOT of improvement.
  2. I've seen a couple in the judge's section, but there were a lot of NO's, so it could be a while. ...or you could make one. That works too.
  3. iBooks, please? Seriously though, I'll consider buying it.
  4. AngelCityOutlaw touched a lot of what I wanted to say, and I too like the synth brass. Nice Intro. The arrangement for the most part is fine, and I hope you are expanding it. I hate to sound like a bass whore, but if it's a dance piece, the bass kick needs to be a bit (not too much) more intense. I found the drums to be a bit repetitive, but they do more good than harm for me. The exit was not good for me. It dropped the entire song like a stone for me. Keep it up!
  5. I previewed some of the tracks and I think at least half of them are really great, in particular Jason Covenant and AkumajoBelmont's "Concrete Heart" (there isn't a AB song I don't like). I thought that a few of the songs were not as impressive (ie not OCR quality), but with some improvement and better quality they would suffice. Still for a project that was made on the fly, it was pretty good.
  6. Wow, this should be good. By tonight I should have Concrete Man's Theme stuck in my head.
  7. I took voice lessons for about five years and learned the basics of sight-singing. I didn't make it into an arts high school choral program (god damn tenors...), so my musical interests took a screeching halt...until I joined OCR, which revived them. I'm learning how to mess around with Logic right now. Compared to GarageBand, this is golden.
  8. To answer your question, I would say for an average length song (2-3 minutes) there should be no less than 3-4 segments, not including the intro and exit. Of course, I would focus less on how many segments there are in my song more so than how does each segment fit with the previous and next. For instance, listening to Rozovian's Braincooler, I can find at least 7 divisions in the song, but each one melds into the other, which is what makes it great. I would love to see someone map Disco Dan's Blue Lightning in segments. That would be awesome.
  9. I love the boss theme and overworld theme for Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals, as well as the overworld theme for Lufia and the Fortress of Doom.
  10. One of these days, Stevo should play at a coffeehouse somewhere in DC, playing this and other acoustic stuff. I'd pay to see that! Great Remake!
  11. Sooooo I found out that my dorm may open January 4th. So if I plan this right, I could go. It would be a 2 hour ride to and from the hotel, but I'll schedule accordingly... EDIT: Dorm opens January 11th. DAMNIT!
  12. I listen through iTunes, could someone please update that?
  13. I might give it a try. It could only develop my musicmaking skills. I'll see if I have time.
  14. I wasn't too comfortable in the beginning, but everything else eroded any doubts that this was an amazing remix! GREAT JOB!
  15. Pretty cool. Can't wait to hear the lead guitar.
  16. That music video...was amazing. Near professional grade. I like it a lot. Oh, and the cover was great as well.
  17. I thought it was a neat mix. Nothing special to me stands out as bad, but not amazing either. It's good background music for me, but beyond that I just don't feel it. By the way, Anti-Syne, I'm still waiting for your "Bombs Away" track to be posted. Keep up the good work.
  18. Damn you Firefox for not recognizing this file. I had to use Safari for this... This mix is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO good. It's also making me hungry.
  19. Happy Birthday, Stevo!
  20. Did it. I probably won't win, but it's always worth trying.
  21. Long time no post (okay, only two weeks, but still). A fellow co-worker was singing the World 1-2 Theme from Super Mario Bros, and I naturally started to sing along. He then said "there should totally be a dubstep version of that theme." Anyone willing to take up the task? Also, I really hope I don't need the source for this one...
  22. Thank you for ruining my childhood.
  23. Whew, finally finished voting. Some of them were tough to decide. And yeah I checked and today is the only day I can vote for round 2, since I'm heading out tomorrow at 6:00 in the morning. If I don't reply to this thread, I wish all of you guys the best of luck!
  24. Don't you love it when you're starting to vote and then your charger breaks down. Yeah...that's why I haven't voted on the rest of the remixes yet. Also, after next round (Mega Man Round 2) I won't be able to vote due to the fact that I'm working at an overnight summer camp where there is limited access to a computer. So yeah I'm going to miss most of the competition...
  25. I would like to see an improved version of that song. I thought it was fun. Listening to the tracks now. Wow! You guys cease to bore me with your songs.
