Is it possible for the internet to have too many Aquatic Ambiance remixes? I propose that it cannot. More importantly: wow. Smooth like polished brass, it breathes easy, and flows freely. The general feel of your piece is consistent, but it's ever changing with with that flute and sax just doing their thing. Very nice, all around.

OCR00774 - Guardian Legend "Hyperion"
Souperion replied to Saunders's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This wonderful artifact is one of my first OCR memories. The emotional progression fueled by the twin aspects of the gentle acoustics pierced by the dist guitar, the simple yet passionate treatment of a very simple and obscure source, all culminates into a genuine work of art. I will always love this song, and what it accomplished both artistically and emotionally. -
4. submitted Yet another Flying Battery remix
Souperion replied to Seth Skoda's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Well, let me first congratulate on building this from scratch. Your time investment shows, as well. It's somewhat relaxing, yet plenty active. The echoes are nicely done, without muddying things up, and the synths are crisp and clear. Your style and treatment of it reminds me of the Megaman 11 sound track, to be honest, but is decidedly Sonic material. Nice work! -
This deserves an extensive applause. Not merely because I have a deep-seated Metroid bias, but because the scope of this achievement: to cohesively weave together an evocative and rich piece from so many sources, to pay homage to two great game serious, to blend the many instrumental elements, all to produce a stunning work that is long enough for a listener to sink their teeth in. I congratulate The Respawn Collective, and hope to see more products like this in the OCR library. Thank you for this song!

This is one of my favorite mixes of the Ballad of the Wind Fish, and the competition is fierce. The somnolent atmosphere delicately propels the dream-like tale of the piece, bringing together the mystique and gentle sorrow that is the story of Link's Awakening. It is a quiet, drifting triumph, and a joy to have in my collection. Well done indeed.

OCR03030 - Metroid Prime 3 'Entropic Dream'

This piece is precious. On top of everything that has been said about it, it's sweeping atmosphere that holds true to a dear melody. A gem that deserves to be on anyone's playlist. -

I deeply appreciate the feedback, Eladar, and that you've taken the time to make it easy for a layman to understand. Now, I'd better get busy, eh? -

Souperion replied to Eladar's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
This is good. The use of organic sounding bells/percussion alongside synth nicely captures both vibes you set out for without keeping them too separated. You give the track enough time to warm up, while keeping it from boiling over. Heat jokes aside, the progression of dynamics is engaging and the piece has plenty to offer the listener. I sure enjoyed it, nice work! -
OCR01286 - Metroid Prime "Just a Little More (Prime Edit)"
Souperion replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Has it really been 15 years since this came out? I remember being enthralled by this mix years ago, and it has failed to lose any of it's original luster. It's earned an eternal place on my playlists, an remains a musical inspiration. A triumph, DarkeSword. -
This is a mix I've been trying to solidify for a few months now. Imil has a captivating, homey feeling that welcomes you in and seats you next to a warm fire. I wanted to take it out into the frozen woods under an aurora lit sky. Poetics aside, this is the product of an amateur playing with equipment that's probably out of his league (EW Symphonic Orchestra and Sytrus), so I welcome any tips/hints/critiques that could help me make this a more complete song. Thank you, and enjoy! Original

Souperion replied to ncocs's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
A nice touch up job already! Excellent. I especially enjoyed the addition of the melody at the 1:50 and 3:40 marks, it complemented what you already had there nicely. The bassy synths at 2:35 were a good addition as well. The source is stronger, and the piece is coming along well. Cheers! -

All I've got for you is applause. The stylistic differences of the incarnations of an iconic song are represented stunningly and cohesively. You did well with the major transitions between versions, as well as the contrasts that keep it an engaging piece. Long as it is, I was still sad when it ended. Excellent work. -
*Looks at post* " Oh hey, another Aquatic Ambience!" *Immediately hits play* I like the electric beat and bass, the delicate delays on the piano, the high yet gentle sweeps and stabs, and the liberal ornamentation of the background while the melody remains mostly faithful to it's source. The melody kinda just gets washed away in in an electric blue wave. The percussion is a little quiet, but I think that enhances its effect on the song. Nice work here!

Souperion replied to ncocs's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Hmm... KEEP WORKING ON THIS ONE! The vast scope of your arrangement's deviation from the original is inspiring and enthralling. Dub-step elements, pure electronica aspects, and that classic high synth... sure, it's rough and unfinished, but it's the start of something cool. I will admit that the source gets largely buried at a number of points, but I can still tell what it's based off of. Make the transitions more cohesive, maybe add some more continuation of instruments to make it feel unified as a piece, I think you could make this something really neat. Good work, and looking forward to it's advancements! -
The call and answer theme works quite nicely, with your fluting typically taking the roll of the source material and the guitar having fun with variation and ornamentation. It might be nice to give the flute the chance to handle some of the more original parts, though the bit you have at the end is a nice touch. The guitar itself adds a very interesting dynamic to your piece, the contrast of the rock aspect and the acoustic overlapping. Wish I had better advice to offer regarding the 'tar, but you've made progress with this track. Good work, keep at it!

1. work-in-progress Metroid Prime Remixes/Remakes
Souperion replied to Trevor M. Baker's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Let's hear it for the tracks of Metroid Prime! I rather like your Phendrana mix (an extremely popular tune, that one). The beginning literally feels like a slightly altered version, though it grows into a more unique thing. The synth that vaguely resembles a guitar really catches one's attention among the other faithful sounds. The percussion around 3:10 has a bit long of a delay for the number of notes it hits in a short space, a little dissonant there. The prologue sounds as any Metroid intro ought to be, and quite faithful to the original too, at that. The same goes for all three of these, really. I am rather fond of the vibrating-whistle-synth in the Menu mix, though I'm not sure it's quite cut out for how low it goes around 1:50, might make it more cohesive to let another instrument take that part or raise it an octave. Nice work here, though, keep making music! -
1. work-in-progress The Legend of Zelda - Majora's Mask Medley
Souperion replied to Ignifex's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
This is a pretty sweet chunk of audio here. You captured some of the great the atmospheric qualities of Majora's Mask, especially with the opening two minutes. I feel that the clock bell is a tad overpowering in the introduction, as is the brass during the overworld theme. For the most part, though, you created a dynamic and captivating story with this medley. Nice work! -
OCR00891 - Super Metroid "Brinstar (Dreams in Red)"
Souperion replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Aside from all the other praise that I echo for this piece, I love the progression it features. For nearly 5 minutes it inexorably grows, fluctuates, deepens, and produced more to enthrall a listener. It's analogous to the gameplay of Metroid: you begin with simple capabilities and mechanics, which continue to expand in number and intensity. A gem among remixes, recommended to anyone. -
OCR03912 - Final Fantasy IV "Tales of Courage and Sorrow"
Souperion replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Exquisite. You really captured a story-telling vibe in this piece, which is more than appropriate for the source. From the woodwinds to the percussion, it's wondrous and enthralling. Always good to have more Tripp music! -
OCR00607 - Guardian Legend "Rosenthorne"
Souperion replied to orkybash's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is a timeless song for me. I remember hearing it when I was first being introduced to the wonderful world of video game remixes and being quietly awed. Years later, I still feel that splendor when I hear Rosenthorne, whether it be on a rando or on purpose. It's a beautiful and inspiring arrangement of a beloved tune from an archaic game, and a testament to both The Wingless and video game music as an art. -
OCR03909 - Mother "Snowmen and Starmen"
Souperion replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
What a piece. I admit that the electric guitar caught me off guard when it came in. It sounded a bit odd compared to the rest of the song, and a bit out of place, but something about being different while matching the mood of the other instruments made it all the more appropriate. Well done to you both!
