The jungle floor is now jumpin'. Do they play this at Klub Kraid? Sorry, dumb jokes. ANYWAYS! I am liking your take on this. Smooth, wide, kinda airy. The soundscape fairly envelopes the listener. The synthy bells that come in around 2:18 sound a bit out of tune, but at the same time, I kinda dig it. One could easily hear this on loop for quite some time. Nice work, here!

3. finished Still Alive from PORTAL [Cover]
Souperion replied to gatOS's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I can't seem to find the link, unfortunately. Still, welcome to the forums. This is indeed the right place to bring your mixes, so have no fear. Sorry I'm late to this scene, but I'll gladly give this a listen. Looking forward to it! -
3. completed Aerith's Theme - Piano Arrangement
Souperion replied to BenEmberley's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
"good effect on the listener," indeed. Might we go a bit further, such as "emotionally harrow the listener?" Or should we try "gently enthrall?" You be the judge. Regardless, well done, Emberly. Thank you for sharing this one. -
3. completed Columns 3 remix - Diving Columns
Souperion replied to SegaMon's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
This is a charming piece. Plucky and warm synths backed by some grooving drums. Enjoyed the sfx, which I assume is from the game. It's pretty crisp and clean as far as I can tell, though I can't be sited as an experienced source. As for submitting it, it's hard to tell; the bar is pretty high. Either way, nice job here, keep it up. -
3. completed Legacy of the Wizard & Dragon Warrior
Souperion replied to Vurez's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Legacy of the Wizard? Never thought I'd see that game again. This are nice: slick and enthralling. Very nice work, you'd never guess the sources were 30+ yrs old. -
Oh, my dude, I never thought I would hear anyone cover this piece. Modern Warfare 2 was one my favorite shooters for a long time. I can feel the impotent rage of betrayal all over again. Keep working on them strings, the swells will really help them deliver an emotional punch. By the end of the piece, the brass and the strings sound like they are clashing a bit, probably a bit of an EQ and volume thing. Very nice work, keep at this one!

1. work-in-progress Sonic 2 - Sky Chill Zone
Souperion replied to Ordonis's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Well, welcome to the VGM scene. This is a charming little piece, a nice direction for the source. The high and delicate synths nicely make a high atmosphere mood with a gentle flowing to it. really good chilling mood. I'm hearing some kind of static in your mix, not really sure what it's coming from. Check your synths, see if you can isolate the source and purge it. I'm not much good with EQ, but I'd suggest seeing what it sounds like to boost the bass a little bit, since this is a high-frequency heavy piece. Obviously, you don't want too much low sound to ground this flighty mood, but something to even out a bit. Still though, this is nice: about 7 or 13 times better than my first VGM remix. Good work. -
I appreciate that information. We suspected that making sure there is no intended profit was key to keeping things peaceful, but were unsure if there were other particulars.

I apologize if this thread is ending up in the wrong place, but I wasn't sure where else it would fit. So, a question: is it a legal offense or infringement to use a remix of a video game song in a fan game? I ask because I have this little nowhere YouTube channel for mixes I collaborate on, and someone asked if they could use one of our arrangements in a fan game they are creating. Last I knew, remixes that are not being used commercially are no big deal, but as much as I am flattered by the offer, I am hesitant. So far, all I know is that the individual asking for permission seems to be making a fan game of Freedom Planet (an indie platformer reminiscent of Sonic the Hedgehog, made by Galaxy Trail). Our arrangement is a medley of a song from Freedom Planet and a piece from Sonic Colors. We're waiting for more information from the person. I enjoy the remix, but personally don't really think it is worth putting in a game. More importantly, I'm worried about the ramifications, since fan games seem to be a complicated matter. What should I know about fan games and supplying remixed music to them? Again, sorry if this thread is misplaced. I appreciate any experienced opinions on the matter.

I can identify with guitar illiteracy. Good on ya for not letting that stop you! The drums and bass are sounding pretty good, and what I presume to be a rock organ of sorts as well. The lead 'tar sounds fairly, distorted, I think the word is. A little grinding on the ears. I dunno if its the sample you're using or effects you've added to it, but I would, with limited expertise, suggest working some EQ on that sucker. What are using for the sample? Hopefully, someone who has proficiency with the axe will offer you more useful advice, but for the most part this is pretty groovy. Don't give up!

OCR04055 - Kyatto Ninden Teyandee "TEYANDEE!"
Souperion replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Whoa, I remember seeing this in the workshop a good while back! Just as bombastic and catchy, the perfect tune to get wedged in your mind all day. How could someone listen to this and not smile? Excellent, excellent work. -
OCR04052 - Terranigma "Wade into the Changing Tide"
Souperion replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ah, this is transcendent. I remember being enamored with the port theme, a surprisingly well developed theme for a brief step of the Terranigma journey. Thank you both for making this tribute. -
1. work-in-progress Super Metroid - Maridia (Trap)
Souperion replied to Seth Skoda's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
I rather like the concept, and would love to hear a full-blown trap adaptation of Maridia. -
1. work-in-progress Castlevania 2 (GameBoy) Intro epic choir
Souperion replied to brynolf11's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Do love me some choir work. This is pretty cool, gotta say. I'm getting a kinda odd sensation from the altos during the first half of the song, an EQ issue I think. I wish I knew more about equalizing to help you here, but it disappears for the last quarter of the piece. Still, this is neat, good work. -
1. work-in-progress Dune 2 Epic War metal
Souperion replied to brynolf11's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Listens for 5 seconds: yup, sounds evil enough. I'm no authority on most things music making, but it sound metal to me, of course vocal are kosher here, and length is largely subjective. It's imposing, deep, dark, and almost traumatizing. It's impressing and memorable. I'd say good work on this. -
OCR04046 - Mega Man X4 "Mind Flip~"
Souperion replied to Liontamer's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Mind Flip~, mind blown. It's hard to find anything to say about it other than "excellent." Now you just need to make a version that combines parts of this with Flight of the Peacock. Thanks for making this piece. -
1. work-in-progress EQ Help, Please: Trials of Mana_Final Boss
Souperion replied to Souperion's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Audiomancer: Thanks for your two cents. I promise not to spend it all in one place. SnappleMan: Thanks for the rigorous feedback, I've got far more to work on than I was hoping. -
This is an unfinished segment of a medley me and my remix partner are working on for a Secret of Mana/Trials of Mana tribute. There are a lot of mechanical problems we're working on, but right now my biggest concern is EQ and balance. The current approach is boosting the violins at the mid-high range, Cellos at mid, and Brass at mid-high. I welcome feedback, and hope this piece isn't too hard on the ears. Thanks.
