  1. What's the bet that Nintendo were going to use some sort of friend code system for this phone? Both people have to be 'online' for a call to take place, and say goodbye to using the phone directory.
  2. The reasoning for the button is on the last page of the Design Questions and Issues thread.
  3. Aye, this reminds me of a song. <-link
  4. Nice, I'm in. Won't see if I can get people to tag along either. Got a Wii, 2 controllers and games available to bring.
  5. Flute intro is sloppy. Every after 0:26, however, is excellent. Good work with the live playing.
  6. As early as this is, I'm not seeing much personality in the main character, nor much potential for some. Eh. It might grow on me.
  7. Pikmin 2 is a good one. Really though, the Cube isn't the best system for co op.
  8. Well, it's not really that much to be surprised about- don't think you should be expecting the original team if you buy a spinoff or a port years after the fact. Interesting, though.
  9. Everything apart from 22 down and 27 across. Unless the summon is supposed to be Ultima, at which it's broken.
  10. We just got it this morning(!), so expect to see it Monday. Got WarioWare yesterday. Probably the best looking game on Wii so far. The character art is wonderfully colourful and crisp. More animation than the handheld titles too. And the form voice over guy is indeed awesome.
  11. If anyone actually bothered to play it, they'd realise that Grabbed by the Ghoulies was actually quite fun. Not to mention it did the unthinkable and bested Banjo-Kazooie's voice work.
  12. How does Super Paper Mario in April sound? <link The last Mario game from Intelligent Systems was The Thousand Year Door. Definitely looking forward to this one.
  13. The Anthology? It finally got released! 'Bout bloody time.
  14. I'd go to one of these, but Play! beat them to Sydney. Can't wait till June.
  15. I predict more awesome games will be released. Little more can be concluded at this time.
  16. For some reason to me, competing with yourself doesn't make best business sense. Even if they make a different experience, it'll still be in the same market. Unless they intend to wait for WoW to calm down.
  17. Brilliance. Pity Darkesword is no longer a mod. That END THREAD should have been END THREAD.
  18. Did the old thread die? Ah well. The 360 to me honestly looks like the best of the three at the mo', and I can't wait to get one. Microsoft not only have embraced technology but have also made a genuine effort to get new IPs on the system. So far it's working. In terms of recommendations, I'd add Viva Pinata to the list. That one looks like great fun.
  19. Sure stood the test of time. It just works. The cut up piano is genius. The way every element perfectly melds together.. sublime. One of the best.
  20. Way to freaking read my mind. I wasn't going to suggest it for the Big Band Live CD already existing, but it's the first thing that came into my head. The only other thing that rings any bells is the staff roll from the same game. Bigger stretch, but I can picture it.
  21. I get the feeling LucasArts doesn't have an in house development studio anymore. All their titles seem to have been outsourced (Bioware, Traveller's Tales, Raven). Is there any of the old talent left?
  22. It's a bit depressing when all that can be heard from a sequel's reception is disappointment; for whatever reason, it didn't live up to its name. Could be hype, nostalgia, or perhaps it just plain sucked. But there are the times when a game, film etc truly tops its predecessor. What sequels do you think deserve such a claim? (Of note, I only intend immediate sequels to be of discussion- saying FF7 is better than FF1 isn't a surprising conclusion, nor a very fair one. Even something like FF7> FF6 isn't really applicable- they only share a name and little else, not including battle system or RPG structure. Having an opinion that Majora's Mask bested Ocarina of Time is a fairer claim- immediate games in the series, same characters (or at least a different view of them), familiar dungeon/town formula. Not to mention it is the correct opinion ) Some of my favoured sequels- -Pikmin 2- pretty much eliminated the flaws that were present in the original and worked on the strengths. Much longer quest, removal of time limit, creative dungeons and bosses and a rather cool multiplayer mode. -Burnout 3- and I thought 2 was a leap in quality. This one really excelled both technically (some of the best sound design I've heard in a game) and design wise. The only thing that disappointed me was the direction taken in Crash mode, but I'm willing to forgive that. -Majora's Mask- as mentioned before, I've come to realise this being the perfect follow up to Ocarina. Instead of just going the 'bigger, better' route, it made an experience all its own. And some others.. -Resident Evil 4 -Spiderman 2 (films as well) Oh, and even though I haven't played Shenmue, it would have to be a pretty amazing game to best its sequel.
  23. Well doesn't lighting add to the graphics? It certainly helps with immersion in fps's (but of course ai is the most crucial for that). Realistic lighting was the term used. No one in the film industry shoots at midday, simply because the light is unflattering. One has to know how to use light effectively for it to be useful- realism is simply a tool, not a means to an end. On that note, I hated the early morning lighting in Twilight Princess, especially in places like Castle Town. May be realistic, but it sure as hell ain't pretty.
  24. Course they are. King Kong wouldn't nearly have been as kick arse if I didn't actually think I was there. Heck, I was sweating on my 17' LCD, so I can't wait to pick it up cheap for 360 down the line.
