My two cents on this may have this thing moved to PPR, but I'll toss the coins in anyway. I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'll just quote the source this came from. I was listening to a sermon (read more before flamage) that made reference to some of these forums. The pastor claims that although Avatar never actually meant to cause suicidal thoughts or depression, it does cause people to become spiritually hungry and look for a "Pandora" to escape from this life. Yet he says that heaven will be better than Pandora. Since I chew the meat and spit out the bones while studying most sermons, I tend to consider this concept "bones material," due to the unreliable sources of these Dutch newspapers. But hey, now that it's been mentioned what kind of movie Avatar really is, I'm definately up for watching it, since I have no respect for the spirit behind current American mainstream pop-culture.
  2. It's a way of killing spare time. When you live in the middle of the praries outside of a metropolis like I do now, you have to constantly kick away the temptation to sing country with old beard and no hair. And thanks for repping encouragement, Arek. However, I'm not participating in this project due to schooling at the moment. Maybe sometime this summer if another project opens up.
  3. Is there a low-cpu consuming VST out there that emulates polyphonic or multi-channeled music ringtones? If VOPM is the closest thing. I'll just use that. I do prefer not to upload midi conversions to a cell phone and record the output to my PC.
  4. Motha 2: Ness VS Gigyas Gigyas: Step back as I counteract on you whack acts with ya whack raps! The click clack push ya whig back split ya in two like kit kats! Lyrical assassin come thru blastin with no closed caption causin' mass reaction It's all real from the steel once it leaves you suckers sealed! Squash mills and steel with bronze status of fear. I strike with Mass Appeal like I'm DJ Premier! Ness: Why do you spit these nursery rhymes, I'll leave you with your whole rap check in surgeryfines! Shoulda never come rappin in my domain, What's up witchyo brain, I'm hotta than propane, Come get your writter's block whacked into parts, PSI you to a crisp, you fizzle out like Bubba Sparks!
  5. Are we talking Empire of Ages games, Starcraft, or generic RPGs? Speaking of which, in Final Fantasy 6, I make sure the strongest party member has the Dragoon Boots. That way they can do damage and the chances of evasion are greater. I also plan to make sure that all party members have cure before I enter Kefka's Tower. It's a shame to admit, I've never beaten the game yet. In other RPGs where there's an overworld, I spend some time leveling up just for the heck of it. It's a great excuse to cover up the fact that I have no idea what I'm doing sometimes.
  6. Forget Spiderman. Another movie would be overkill. Let's focus on getting the movie on SHIELD finished. I'd love to see the Hulk and Ironman back in action...with better dialogue of course.
  7. Agreed. The synth is quite repetitive. But it does work in terms of keeping things flowing. My real concern is the stab that's used. It sounds like the pitch has been lowered to make it grimey, but in doing so, lost it's "umph." Maybe try throwing on some EQ to enhance the hit or try another stab. EDIT: BTW, caught the one you uploaded on Absolutely, love it!
  8. Thanks for the comment, Obtuse. I was kind of going for a NAS illMatic feel to it and was pleased with how it turned out. Are you talking about the glocken or the other "bell-ish" stabs right before the second bar?
  9. Oh yeah! The Great Race! - excellent vintage comedy with Jack Lemmon involving a car race from New York to Paris. Push the button, Max!
  10. Not sure if it's already there: Napolean Dynamite. The humour is so dry, but if you can look past the awkwardness, it can be extremely funny at times. Stupid humour has the ability to break a smirk IMO. Also, Kung POW. Spoof of most 70s kung fu films with Steve Odekirk inserted in vintage 70s clips. There's a battle in there with a cow that yells EPIC WIN at the end. And the villian has some of the best one-liners. Yeah, I'm the king of obscure when it comes to recommendations.
  11. Here's a east-coast underground beat I made for a buddy of mine back in Peg City: http://www.box.net/shared/o5nx4lhzqc Enjoy! (I know. It's repetitive.)
  12. Very nice! You do know how to keep it real! Here's one of mine if you're interested (it's already been rapped over): http://www.box.net/shared/o5nx4lhzqc
  13. It's definately useful for someone who's pretty much a couch potatoe when it comes to computers, entertainment, and the internet. As for myself, I do more creating than watching when it comes to the digital, so if I did buy it, I'd save it for occasions when I have people over (unless there's some interactive gaming-type features to it (doubt it)).
  14. Some of these are pretty cool. Speaking of which, here's a good attempt at a GM type MegaDrive soundfont, although I'd rather use VOPM for FM sounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-6ulun8epM TFM Music Maker is a tracker for Sega type sounds which is also quite handy, but it sure can eat CPU and RAM. You can grab a free download here if you have a heavy-duty computer: http://www.woolyss.free.fr/chipmusic.php On top of that, the above site has got some hit-and-miss in terms of vst, but the trackers there are pretty solid in terms of user friendliness and what not. Personally, for NES, Fami-Tracker is your best bet and the VOPM VST is probably the highest in quality that I know of for Genesis type sounds (provided you create your own patches). For Super Nintendo, download the Setzer SPC soundfont as it has all the basics for Square-ish games. But you may have to rip SPC sounds, convert them to wav and set looping points for them in a VST sampler or DropZone if you have Kinetic 2. Hope this helps. If you want some good tips and tricks, talk to people like OverCoat or Gecko Yamori. They've been popping tracks of these kinds for ages.
  15. East coast underground hip-hop is all about crate digging. I snagged some Barry White two years ago from a friend of mine and shamelessly came up with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvtu0ifJTN0
  16. I don't have resolutions. Just goals: Get better marks this year in college now that I'm upgrading Web Design. Date someone way out of my league. Become the first groomsman in my circle of buddies to pull off an all nighter. Create a full electro house album. And yes, get a hip-hop OCR posted here after an 8 year hiatus.
  17. I already have Colossus and was dissappointed with compatibility between Vista and Windows 7. Hope this doesn't do the same thing, or I'm forwarding the link and $600 Canadian worth of samples to my buddy's home studio with Win XP.
  18. Traceroute or ping the website's IP. Or does this have to do with certain site elements not loading properly like flash or java?
  19. I actually enjoy electro-house quite a bit and have been listening to it alot lately so if bLiNd does keep this kind of stuff up, I'm a very happy camper. I really love the string and acid-ish 303 synth work on this track. Ashliegh's got a great singer voice to top it off. The 4 on the floor beat with a clap is a great touch. Love 4:25 on to 5:25 as it reminds me of a Euro kind of vibe! Happy Anniversary, you two!
  20. All I can say is...wow! This is exactly what happens when funk meets west coast hip-hop! Sweet melting rhodes, great high end synth lead that somehow reminded me of Kris Kross' Jump, some well choosen claps, and a bassline that keeps things on the move. Epic! 10/10
  21. This remix is an EPIC WINNER! The bass slide slams you in a basket full of a beautiful mixture of guitar funkiness and a sweat smooth hard beat that not even the from BattleJam can pull off. A great remix that's been planted in the right garden. I gotta get my friends from Flea Market Creep to do a cover on this in Winnipeg! A big 10/10
  22. I'll keep the VGMix comments to myself after putting my two cents in the Revival thread...er wait...I don't think VGMix is even ten yet.
  23. Been here since 2002, and have always been coming back for more! Happy 10th B-day OCR,
  24. I feel almost in the same boat. However in my case, I found a band that wants to have me in their studio for some of their rock/rap works. No word of a lie. So hopefully we can have v2 of Dyna-Raps and Novel Sound ft. Flea Market Creep by mid-2010 to replace my crappy home demo mixes. Hate not included as a man can change a lot over the years. EDIT: And if you don't believe me, check my sig, you'll hear the lastest stuff I got on the unsigned site. Much love, Double A
  25. Wow. Now I know this one's officially heading to UnMod. I don't play alot of games these days, being in college and all.
