  1. Excellent choice for the first round of the first Sigma Fortress tournament. The memories...oh, the memories!
  2. AAAWWWW YEEAAAHH!!! EDIT: Seriously, so many awesome participants this time around. Now, if only Nekocat hadn't gotten eaten by that iguana...
  3. You know how psyched I am not only to find out that Usa is still making music, but also entering the compo??
  4. Wow's what's with everyone picking Volt Kraken? Seems to be a lot more popular than I ever remember it being in previous MMX compos...
  5. Question, Darkesword: Does the "X vs Zero" theme count as a Sigma Fortress song? It would be awesome to use that as a source for one of the rounds.
  6. Sorry, no offense intended, I just got excited seeing so many remixers I wasn't expecting and hadn't seen anything from in awhile.
  7. Thanks to all of you kids making me feel old by saying that Jem was "before your time." The movie looks nothing like the source material, which is unsurprising, since they left the show's creator completely out of developing it -- much to the chagrin of the original show's fans. Another nostalgia cash-in if I've ever seen one. These types of movies are about where comic book movies were in the 1980s and 1990s (sans Blade): looking to make a quick buck with no reverence for the source material whatsoever. We can only hope that nostalgia cash-ins get to where comic book movies are now (for the most part -- DC still has a LOOOONG way to go).
  8. I think I was in 7th grade when it came out? I remember seeing ads for it in Game Informer or Nintendo Power or something, and I thought it looked really interesting. Plus, it was from Squaresoft, who already made a bunch of great RPGs, so this one had to be good, right? Good is kind of an understatement. The raw scope of the entire storyline, despite it being a relatively short game, just blew me away. There wasn't anything else like it back then. The battle system, the graphics, the music -- all just incredible. I can't believe it's been 20 years since it came out, which may be why newer gamers have a hard time understanding just how revolutionary the game was, since it basically set a lot of new standards for every RPG released after it and every RPG has tried to emulate its scale in some dimension or another.
  9. Oh please do this. I haven't had a Mega Man compo in so long and I need my fix!
  10. Way back when I played the original NES with friends (in like, 1st or 2nd grade), there were always those kids that lifted the controller when they wanted Mario to jump. I think there's just some tactile connection between the character on the screen and what the mind perceives as its own body. Probably the same thing with pushing forward on the controller (i.e. you intuitively would think that doing that would make your character in the game go forward, regardless of any actual effects).
  11. I was able to listen to the Xenogears remix on SoundCloud, but the FFX one was a dead link. Was it removed?
  12. Oh man, I literally JUST listened to this song earlier today because I was in the mood for a Christmas-y kind of video game song. So pumped for some mixes!
  13. *scratching my head* The reason why the Second Amendment has found so much legal protection recently is because the NRA has gotten so much more backing from gun manufacturers to be able to throw money at Congress to keep the guns coming along, regardless of any mental illness or criminal records. The original purpose of the Second Amendment was to democratize the military to prevent there being a standing army (as we have today). The founding fathers were very much against the idea of a standing army since they saw the kind of oppression that it led to with England and other European powers at the time. The point was that if everyone (of appropriate age) were eligible to be called on for military service, the government couldn't easily oppress those same people. It wasn't to protect the rights of Joe Redneck to own as many firearms as he wants only to have some mentally ill relative take it from its unsecured storage locker and fire indiscriminately at elementary school kids. Anyhow, things have gotten continually worse with money in politics since Reagan metaphorically bent over and pulled down the pants of the national government. He even handed lube to lobbyists of every stripe. All subsequent administrations just refilled the lube bottle to varying degrees; it's just how the game is played nowadays. But sorry to burst all of you right wingers' bubbles, but Reagan (and his Republican successors) have been the most egregious in opening the floodgates of corporate influence into American politics, because, well, there's money to be made.
  14. EMMMUUUUUNNNNAAAATTTTOOOORRRRR!!!! Glad to see something new from you again! No technical critiques to offer, just wanted to say that I really like this a lot!
  15. Yes! YES! YES!!1!!1! This is one of my all-time favorite compo submissions from WillRock! So happy to finally see it memorialized on the front page!
  16. Wow, that's like, 10 miles from my house. I may actually go to this
  17. Hey, awesome, this one was finally posted! I mean, I've been regularly listening to it for 11 months or so since it popped up in the WIP forums, but great to see it on the front page of OCR!
  18. Oh man, I hope someone picks a song from Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
  19. Wait...people on OCR didn't know about Xenogears CREID? Am I that old????
