  1. This came from playing around with the bassline rhythm a bit and then building on it, which gave it a different feel than the rock sound we're pretty used to. So I leaned into it, pulling reference from the SNES Ninja Turtles beat em up, and it just didn't sound the way I wanted, so I left it for a while. Then when I decided to use the theme from Char's Counterattack (a Mobile Suit Gundam movie) as a means to try figuring out Lo-fi sounds, I realized the feel that I was building with this wasn't meant for a really fast BPM. So I slowed it way down and replaced the drum beat with the lo-fi beat I had from the other. Let me know what you think. Original Build: LoFiBodyFunk ---- EDIT: Okay, so I revisited this one after learning a bit more of the software and plug ins (learned a lot trying to emulate Madeon's sound for the song Freckles from Rurouni Kenshin), and thought I'd use the Cybersynth pack on this song too. Layered a little in there for the atmosphere. This leans a lot more into the funk feel, but feels a LOT less Lo Fi.
  2. Hey everyone! Would love anyone who has a minute to provide feedback on this. I'm very open to feedback, loving or critical. No worries on hurting my feelings, I just want to get better. Here's the remix I created: I would love overall feedback, especially on the mixing/production (I'm working on improving at mixing so would love thoughts on this). Here's the original in comparison:
  3. My remix https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_XdxrFYU2koMloBxSJ87NkWr5Y-McoLg/view?usp=drivesdk Original I believe this is ready for mod review. Thanks for ALL constructive criticism ahead of time!
  4. Soundcloud is being weird again, but here it is https://soundcloud.com/100_percent_roemer/gravbea
  5. Note: Updates to this track will be added to the bottom of this first post. Quick note to board mods: I will modify this post as needed to conform to board guidelines, please inform me if changes are needed. First attempt at a remix! I hope to eventually complete one and submit it to the site which I love so much. I had a bit of inspiration to do a rock n roll remix of Chrono Trigger's "Corridors of Time" after hearing this remix. I like the rock n roll sound at around the 25 second mark, and wanted to explore it further. So in a way, this is a remix of a remix. https://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01836 Original track: See below for my remixes and revisions I am currently using MuseScore for score editing and sound, so it will sound a bit canned for now. I am hoping to use Cubase later with better samples and/or live instruments in future revisions. I would love to have feedback and/or suggestions on ways to make this better. If you are interested in collaboration, I am open to that as well. Thanks for your time! 6. Another fall mood remix. Link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1R1jnHHtY-0xL2IkNRDrHVSeZn4BjXKfb/view?usp=sharing Source: Rose and Ghost https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyVkTZ9QjC4
  7. https://soundcloud.com/100_percent_roemer/redbrin If speedrunning super metroid as a game is fun, speedrunning a remix is even more fun.
  8. A remix of the Song of Healing that hopes to do a little healing. I named it for the classic imagery of a broken heart that, though outwardly ruined, still continues to beat, to live, to feel. The piece, like that heart, still needs loads of work. I'm particularly trying to work on the layering (of my gratuitous strings), making transitions smoother, and balancing the instruments (those darn violas). And of course, any other glaring compositional flaws that happen to stand out. Thanks for a listen.
  9. Original song: I've worked on this on and off for way longer than I'd like to admit, but it's finally in a stage I'm comfortable taking comments. V1.0: http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191101.ogg 5.0 surround version (untested): http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191101_surround.ogg V1.1: http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191109.ogg 5.0 surround version (untested): http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191109_surround.ogg V1.2: http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191121.ogg 5.0 surround version (untested): http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191121_surround.ogg V1.3: http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191212.ogg 5.0 surround version (untested): http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20191212_surround.ogg V1.5: http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20201011.ogg V1.6: http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20201012.ogg V1.7: http://www.kozanryusui.net/sakkyoku_nikki/20201015.ogg The titular castle is the 5th stage of Touhou Double Dealing Character (or Touhou Kishinjou), an inverted castle floating in the sky. The original title 空中に沈む輝針城 ("Kuuchuu ni shizumu kishinjou") translates to "Castle of the shining needles, sinking into the sky". I've tried to emulate a journey through the castle: 0:00 - 0:40: Enclosing onto the castle through the cloudy sky, eventually reaching the front gates (which you can hear open if you listen closely) 0:41 - 2:26: Journying through the increasingly grand corridors and halls of the castle 2:27 - 3:08: Slowly tracking back while basking in the afterglow 3:09 - 3:23: Falling out the main gate into the evening sky (the gate closes behind you) I've loved this theme ever since I first played the game. It was the first 5th stage theme for me to finally knock the one from Touhou Mountain of Faith off its first place pedestral, and it has become one of my favorites in the entire Touhou music corpus. Initially my main motivation for creating the arrangement was to mark the climax off with the bells at 2:12 and the rest of the arrangement was just fluff to get there. Later on the actual climax shifted two more measures to the part at 2:17 because I just love deceptive cadences. The rest of the arrangement should be a very straightfoward orchestration. I've taken some liberties with the instrumentation, chord progression and custom counter points, but it's essentially a single run-through of the original song. The seating of the orchestra is German instead of American (second violins opposite first violins, basses to the left etc.) which is mostly noticable during the beginning. Considering how much I fought with almost every aspect of the song I'd be grateful for any comments on pretty much anything. The 5.0 version is a byproduct of my workflow which I cannot test due to a lack of a surround setup, so please don't expect it to be well-engineered. I'm not sure if this arrangement would cut it for submission-level quality. Judging from the other orchestral arrangements on the site so far I'm tending towards no, but I could only find either Hollywood-style arrangements (i.e. with lots of supporting percussion and/or non-orchestral instruments) or rather mellow arrangements which tend to be not as thickly layered, so I'm not really sure if these comparisons are any good indicator.
  10. Hiya Done a remix of "Sand Hell" from Thunder Force by Toshiharu Yamanishi, for Megadrivers custom Its in the style of an oldschool(detroit) House song from the 90's possibly. Anyway, Let me know what you think, what could be improved, etc. Thanks for listening! Remix: Original:
  11. Havent worked on anything for so long. My old studio pc died and picked up a new laptop recently. Possibly going to try the whole of the soundtrack from this game or pick the best pieces from the various games in the series. Thanks
  12. Heyooo Drew heavily from the Sega CD source and also Rich Douglas' re-record for this one: That vibe
  13. Hi folks. It's been a very long time since I've posted on this website. I've been poking away at this track for a couple weeks. I was hoping to eventually submit it to the site, and I could use some feedback on how it's shaping up. The average production quality on OCR is even higher than it was 15 years ago! Here's a Google Drive link to the WIP: Chris McGee - Southern Swamp Remix and here's the original. Majora's Mask - Southern Swamp (Koji Kondo) Thanks!
  14. Just looking for some feedback on my most recent remix. It's not perfectly mixed, I started on this this morning. Thank you in advanced!
  15. Original Lagrange Point (FC) - Theme of Isis (Opening Theme) Sorry for removing the original topic. I had to fix some things.
  16. Here is my remix for Rundas so far! I just need to add some guitar and some other things. This may change quite a bit. So far I have almost everything finished! The voice may not stay as it is. I may use a vocoder. Let me know what you Metroid Prime lovers think about it so far. August 3 Update Added guitars! August 4 Update Added Rundas' Voice! August 5 Update New Guitar parts
  17. So I'm sharing this again;) I've been fooling around with Cakewalk, FL Mobile, Caustic...and FL Studio Producer edition. I did all of the arranging for this tune in Caustic for Android. I tweaked the final sound (with my limited knowledge) with FL Studio 20. I have been fooling around with the different DAWS I just mentioned, and for some reason, so far, this is my favorite product. I don't get much time these days to fool with music. I like how this sounds, it reminds me of MOD files from back in the day. I wonder if this remix sounding this way would ever pass the panel...I believe chip tunes have made it through, I wonder if this style would ever pass, as an artistic choice. I would appreciate some constructive feedback! EpicFootStepsCaustic.wav
  18. UPDATED VERSION Hello again I just finished another DKC remix, this time putting a spin on the factory stage music. A welcome break from trying to perfect my Aquatic Ambience mix (mixing = argh!) The overall composition is fairly conservative though I did add a few personal touches here and there to keep it interesting. I experimented with sounds and FX and did my best balancing the mix. I actually think this turned out really well, which makes it a positive experience for once. Every time I come back for a listen I just feel satisfied and there is nothing that stands out to me as being "wrong". I hope you'll feel the same way Please listen to at least 30 seconds, even if you don't like it right away, so the play counter more accurately reflects views. Anyway, here it is: What do you think? Have any nice memories playing DKC and hearing the factory BGM for the first time?
  19. I shortened it, arranged a few things, complete overhaul on sound design and mixing. I intend to make a few small changes. Here's what it sounds like now https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/958152 And if anyone is curious, here is the one from last year (the one that got rejected) https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/880226 Cocks
  20. So I came up with this wacky idea to have an actual theme song for Krazy Kremland. I managed to kobble together this "Its a Small World" version of "Welcome to Crocodile Isle" with a tad of the Gangplank Galleon thrown in. I also wrote partial lyrics to it that I had the idea of a "Nuka World" style chorus singing to it. Its a Little Isle of Talking Crocodiles Krem Land's really fun if you avoid the bees Rides have Broken tracks and there's a lot of bees Its a Little Isle of Crocodies Come down and Stay A While And you'll see Lots of bees lots of bees a few trees and more bees Its a Little Little Kremland after all! I'm debating if this could be OCREMIX worthy. My samples are crap, but its a bit forgivable because its all calliope music. I suck at mixing, and singing. If anyone wants to collab on this and make it better I'm all ears. I also plan to make a music video with puppets of this. Example of my previous DK puppet video:
  21. Hi, I'm new here. I recently decided to try remaking "Zip" from Bomberman Hero. This was done by ear, but I tried to stay mostly true to the original. I'm looking for constructive feedback. My remake: Original:
  22. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Gy3KyM3Xc-jKWz09hDBcmqMxdopYRH_q/view?usp=sharing Still missing leads in a few spots, but the general idea is there.
  23. So yeah, this is something that has gone through quite a few permutations, and this is my latest attempt:) This was completely done on my phone, mostly during breaks at work, as I have very little time to do anything musical at all at home...I have a toddler;) Most of this was done with Fruit Loops Mobile, with an excerpt from Caustic...the vocoder part. I did a quick and dirty master with the Caustic mastering app. I appreciate the feedback the judges have given through this process...and I have tried to apply their critiques. High pass filter set low frequency, so cool. I appreciate and wish for feedback, Thanks!:) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CNSnJLjYjUOpeKlf0TUSajeFjPxAmrRd/view?usp=drivesdk
