DragonAvenger Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 This mix is very cute, I'm really liking it. Very clever with the name, although for the first listen I was waiting for the evil clowns to come get me all of a sudden. The 3:00 section was my favorite part, the slowdown was pretty trippy. I'm on the fence on whether this was a tad too long, but I have to listen more before I make that decision. Great work guys. Quote
Lucentas Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 This is a great mix, very upbeat and quirky in a fun way (great use of the coin sound). It definitely reminded me of halc's Tetris Attack mix, which I also love. Also, I appreciate his tenacity in playing through the first few levels just to access the source tune--I, too, am woefully inadequate at platformers and I know how much of a hassle that must have been, all to deliver to us this fine, fine mix. Mad props. Quote
KyleJCrb Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Loved this so much I played it on an episode of NGI awhile back. Nice one, dudes. Quote
DuoNishiki Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Very nice. I love the retro sounding instruments. Been a while since I've listened to a mix that dominated with these kinds of sounds. Happy and catchy. *claps*. Quote
WillRock Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Oh man this was just one big nostalgia trip... Its like i'm 7 again... Quote
Harmony Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Fun stuff, especially the second theme. Love the guitar too. Quote
Nicole Adams Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 This is a super fun remix; very catchy. Monumental review +1 Quote
LuigiFan Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 Oh man, I miss Super Mario Land - was one of my first games for the Game Boy as well (along with Donkey Kong Land and Game and Watch Gallery). This is a great, relaxing take on the theme - I seriously love the interwoven textures that you two managed to fit in there. It's a little quiet for me, but it definitely sounds great in the headphones. Keep up the fantastic work! Quote
MechaFone Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I've got nothing to say on this mix. I mean, other than I thoroughly enjoyed it in it's entirety. Get this mix now, don't ask questions, and let the good times roll. Quote
diamondfalcon Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 That's a pretty cool song. It sounded like Kirby music at times, you should remix one of those too. Quote
Tex Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Hell, yeah. Still awesome. This should have direct posted. This is hot stuff. Quote
yosefu Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 This mix brings back forgotten memories of my childhood. A great mix guys. Quote
K.B. Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Incredibly happy. The chiptuneness grows on you too... such a great medium when done right. And this does it right. I said it before, but solid work guys. But, seriously, what did you do from 1:25-1:30? That sounds like you put bees in a blender... do I need to call PETA? Quote
Xbob42 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 This is one of the few songs, here or otherwise, that just plasters a smile on my face. It's so relentlessly fun and happy, innocent and carefree. It's nothing short of a pleasure to listen to - just my type of music! Quote
Ascendancy Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 pure fun, gosh been a while since i heard a track on ocremix that put such great emphases on enjoyment, fun, orginality, and did i forget to mention fun? =D fits the summer mood so well, and yay for nostalgia. great work guys Quote
PROTO·DOME Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Freakin' awesome stuff, liking the liberal bits a lot. We need more chiptune!! Quote
M W Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 It's about time this track made it to OCR. I've still been listening to the WIP posted a long while back. Quote
Geneson Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I think this is the best work of both of these guys, and I've probably listened to each of chthonic's mixes like 20 times. no wonder the past two years haven't been quite as happy for me, the dude wasn't posting mixes! onward to more joyful days as I dance to this song! Quote
metalsnakejuice Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 I can not stop smiling when l play this:-P Good job. Quote
windkirby Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Very catchy and fun, but I do have a complaint that kept it from being the best of best for me: it seemed too long. Like there were sections were the music just sort of went along with it with little to say, relatively. Others probably won't agree with my lack of concision bit; I will say that otherwise it's absolutely stunning and that the chiptune voice was really great - nice work on the whole. :] Quote
halc Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 btw super mario bros NES reference at 1:32 (think of the first few notes of the traditional smb theme) we intended for it to be fairly obvious but i'm told it's hard to spot Quote
PROTO·DOME Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 ...but i'm told it's hard to spot Really? I thought it was glaringly obvious (in the BEST kind of way! ^o^) Quote
