DragonAvenger Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 http://www.noiseaddicts.com/2009/03/can-you-hear-this-hearing-test/ On the whole topic of hearing reduction vs. age vs. situation, I found this site that you can play a bunch of different frequencies to see where you can't hear anything anymore. I can hear up to 17kHz, which isn't bad for being 25 years old and having taught high school/middle school band for 3 years. I'm curious to see what people's results are. Do post your results below. Harmonious Dissonance Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I can hear up to 22. But then again I am 13... Quote
LuketheXjesse Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Geez, 18 for me. And I'm almost 20 years old. Guess all that loud metal music is taking its toll. Quote
Malaki-LEGEND.sys Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Does the pop before and after count? If so I can hear all the way to 22. If not, 18. 24 years old and always around music. Quote
Mirby Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I could barely hear 18 kHz; 17 kHz came in fine. And I'm 20, and blasting music full blast in headphones for years. Quote
Calpis Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I can't hear anything above 14. 27 years old, gettin' to be a geezer. Quote
noTuX Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I can hear up to 19K. I'm 25. That kinda surprises me cause I always have my headphones blasting whenever I work on music. I thought I would be deaf by now. Also, for some reason I started feeling kinda strange when I was listening to 17K. I cant explain it, but the sound was bothering me. Quote
SoulinEther Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 18 in both ears, 19 in my left. can't even hit 20 for my 20th. left is probably better because i've always put my old headset over the right ear. lol. and I think my tinnitus is 15-16 Quote
Cyril the Wolf Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Cuts off at 17 at normal listening volumes. Up to 19 if I crank it. And no, the pops don't count. Quote
Gollgagh Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 oh I didn't think about cranking the volume plus I have a rather loud fan in the background Quote
Ramaniscence Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I'm going to be 25 next month. I can hear up to 18, and then I can hear 21. I was in marching band for a million years, and starla says I'm def all the time because my music is so loud... SHOWED HER SHE CAN'T HEAR 17. Quote
Muskweeto Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I can hear them all. 18 - 22 kHz I can hear faintly. they also make me feel dizzy and light headed, as if I would pass out if I listened to them too long. I'm 25... Quote
MaxFrost Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 need to doublecheck with my headphones, but pretty sure my hearing cuts out at 19k. I can hear 18k loud and clear, but 19 is blank. 25, was expecting it to go soonish, really rare to hear above 20k after you hit 25, so all of you who can hear it are freaks Quote
ella guro Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I'm 22 and my hearing stops at 18. I guess that's all the loud music I listen to on headphones taking its toll. Quote
cobaltstarfire Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 I'm a little confused because I can hear some of them but not others. @_@ Tones I can hear (in my right ear atleast, I don't think I can hear more than 8kHz in my left ear, I certainly can't feel any more than that) 8kHz 15kHz 16kHz* 17kHz (this one makes my toes want to curl up it's painful) 18kHz* 21kHz* 22kHz *unsure if I can hear them or not sometimes I can sometimes I can't? I don't know how this is possible from being in band (and having to sit infront of those infernal percussionists most of the time) My ears even ring constantly, but I can still pick out up to 22 kHz. Oh and I'm 23 Another edit: Oh guys I would caution against cranking up the volume to try to hear these if you're not sure you can. Because even if you can't perceive the sound coming out the sound is still there, and it can permanently damage your ears. Quote
The Coop Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 This is rather strange. I heard, 8, 10 and 12 piercingly clearly. However, I hear nothing from 14 to 17, then I can hear 18 a bit, then not 19, then I can hear 20 to 22. I've had tinnitus (ringing in ears) since my earliest memories around the age of 3 or 4 years old, so I imagine that's the cause behind this. Quote
keiiii Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 and I think my tinnitus is 15-16 Ugh, tinnitus. Mine is so loud, I can't hear past 16k on normal volumes. But if I turn it up I can hear up to 18k. I'm 28. Quote
Radiowar Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 i'm 19 and i could hear 20 really faintly. used to be i could tell if a tv was one from really far away i'd feel a sort of pressure, but i couldn't this time. Quote
Diodes Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 17 was the highest I could hear, and I heard it just faintly. Did not crank the volume. I'm 28. Quote
