Jaybell
With the recent "dethroning" of OOT by Galaxy as the highest rated game ever, my friends were all whining about how awesome Ocarina of Time was and how Galaxy, while apparently awesome, is nowhere near the level of OOT. I shamefully confessed that I could never get into Ocarina of Time, and everyone stared daggers at me. Am I such a terrible human being for not really caring for this game? The Damned
To each their own. I don't like a lot of games that are "OMGF MUST PLAY!!@", and I'm not any better or worse for it. For myself, at least, it was both a great game, and a great game experience, in that the game gave me some truly enjoyable times.
Flare4War
If it didn't jive with you that's fine, doesn't make you a pedophile. I for one thought it was a great game and played it from start to finish several times.
Dhsu
Zelda64 is...pure. I can't think of any better way to describe it. Everything fits together so perfectly. Nostalgia plays a part in this feeling, of course. So I guess I could forgive you if you don't think it's the greatest thing ever. Even though it is. Effef
I actually liked Majora's Mask better than OoT. Take that as you will.
MasterSenshi
I wanted more difficulty with OOT, but Majora's Mask fulfilled that to the point I never finished it. Anyway, to each his/her own. I don't like every highly rated game out there... it doesn't make you any less a gamer, just a different breed.

Atomicfog
I loved OoT back when I beat it, but I cannot guarantee I still would. Many early 3D games don't hold up as well anymore -- especially without a great storyline to motivate you, something Zelda never really had. I can say that it was one of the most enthralling experiences a video game of it's generation ever gave me. The world was huge, and amazingly explorable for its time, and its music will entrance me forever (especially the song of storms.) It's possible OoT's age may have gotten to you if you played it when yesterday's next-gen consoles were out. Then again, every game isn't for every person. DarkeSword
Ocarina of Time was the best yet, but it's certainly not the best since.

A Link To The Past was better than Ocarina of Time, and Galaxy is significantly better than both Ocarina and Mario 64. It's about time one of the most overrated, fanboy-worshipped games of ALL TIME got booted down. The only reason why people are convinced Ocarina is so great is because of nostalgia. But it's a fact that if you take away that nostalgia, Twilight Princess easily takes a piss all over it.
Jam Stunna
I actually liked Majora's Mask better than OoT.Take that as you will. I feel like MM was far more interesting, but OoT gets the nod due to its epic feel. Along the lines of the topic though, I confess that I disliked Mario 64 when I first played it. I can appreciate its revolutionary nature, but I'm still not a fan.

It has everything good about Mario 64 and then some, yet there are still people arguing that it's almost as good as 64, when Galaxy is superior in every way. Nostalgia. That's why I love Mega Man 2 so much.
Palpable
I absolutely loved OoT when it first came out and I played through it, but when I went back to it five years later, I couldn't believe how much the fuzzy, indistinct graphics hurt my head. I couldn't even play it. Graphics don't usually factor much into my enjoyment of a game, but they do when they give me a headache.
Devyn
^ While I admit the graphics have aged poorly, I still enjoy the game. I think a remake of Ocarina would be cool (yes, as much as I hate Ocarina fanboys, I am one). Also, here's a question: At the beginning of Wind Waker, the story says that the hero never came after the Hero Of Time, and the world was then covered in water. Now, Twilight Princess happens 100 or something years after Ocarina - If that hero never came, then who is the hero in Twilight Princess? Seriously, I wish Nintendo would have kept the story consistent, like they did with Metroid. And what about Zelda 1 and 2? Is that like super-ancient Hyrule? Bummer
Zelda OoT has become somewhat of an idolized game, all the fanboys having played cannot accept any other fact that any other game would surpass it in greatness. True, OoT is an incredibly great game that has affected me as a gamer though mind, soul and heart, but you cannot avoid to think that the main reason why OoT has kept its solid place up there has been thanks to all the gamers trapped in nostalgia. That's why I love Mega Man 2 so much. SM64 has one thing over Galaxy, imo: controlling Mario. Maybe I just played way too much SM64 back in the day, but it's annoying in Galaxy when I slam the stick in a direction and Mario takes a second or two to get started. Can't do turn-around jumps as easily either (run one direction, slam the stick in the other direction and jump). Maybe I just need to get used to it, but so far Galaxy's Mario isn't nearly as acrobatic 64's Mario.
shikigami
OOT was magical for me because it but LoZ in 3D, but then i realized it was just lttp at its core, only with alot of boring dialogue. plus, it was a short game. lttp had what 13 dungeons? OOT had 8 or so, i expected more.
Cecilff2
Of all the Zelda games I've ever played...OoT is the only one I haven't finished. I rented it, but I could never get into it for some reason. Including OoT, I've played lttp, awakening, both oracles, minish, wind waker and tp. I've been wanting to try it again, but until I get a broadband connection of some sort, I cannot use Virtual Console.
Malaki-LEGEND.sys
I guess it's just me when I say that I can still go back to Ocarina of Time and still enjoy the hell out of it. i don't think I'd use a word like Dshu, but it really WAS that great and to me it still is. Majora's Mask is more like an aftershock if you will, but it was still enjoyable. And I love Mega Man 2 still, but it's because I still love the bosses(some of my fav robot masters), the music, and the FUCKING QUICK BOOMERANG. Nostalgia doesn't have much to do with it. I've gotten to the point where I can make mario do turnarounds back to back to back ad nauseum, as soon as he touches the ground. Yous just needs to gets used to its. Sir_NutS
I played OoT a month ago and it was every bit as delicious. Mario 64 haven't played for about a year but I never stopped playing that game until my n64 died. I don't really think I'm biased. Prior to playing OoT I didn't get into the hype and for me Alttp was the best game to ever exist, and it just required a rental and a few hours into it to realize how wrong I was. But, for instance, I never QUITE got into twilight princess (still GREAT game though) and I still think okami beats the hell out of it. Anyways, OoT is a great game and IMO one of the few games deserving to be considered the best game ever made. Of course, as with everything, you can't please everyone so there still will be people who think it's a great game but not one of the best ever made, or even those who just despise it. Are you a bad person for hating OoT. YES. U R MR GAY AND I HOPE YOU DIE IN YOUR NUBISH POOL OF IGNAROANCE.
Malaki-LEGEND.sys
Problem I see is that people attribute a lot of what makes an old game great to nostalgia, and I don't agree with that.
Dafydd
I could care less about what game gets the higher rating, myself. I don't like Mario 64 anymore. It lacks detail, there's just too much empty space. Zelda 5 was a great game, but Twilight Princess is just so much prettier, and so much more mature (in a respectable, non-pornographic nor particularily violent way). It's a bit too weird for me though. I mean, what is the deal with the human-headed chicken with tits sagging on both the front and the back of her body? The puzzles just got boring after a while, too. I haven't played Galaxy yet, but I'm guessing it must be rather good.

Flare4War
Problem I see is that people attribute a lot of what makes an old game great to nostalgia, and I don't agree with that. Why? What's wrong with that? That's why we enjoy a lot of things. Not just video games. It's why old people like classic cars and the younger generation thinks they look ridiculous. It's why a person gets attached to the way their mother makes pumpkin pie and the neighbor boy thinks it tastes strange. It's often why we have specific tastes in women/men. The list goes on and on. The other day my little brothers were playing Ocarina of Time and I walked through the living room. They were so into it. Using the guide, trying to get every heart, and accomplish ever mini-quest. Seeing it made me want to play it again, even though I thought the graphics were wanting. If it hadn't been for my memories attached to that game from when I was in high school, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. The result was, I stripped my Gamecube from them and played it for an afternoon. It was still fun. Story continued: After I gave it back to my little bros. I enjoyed heckling them by not letting them use the guide for the water temple and making them fight Evil Link using the Master Sword. (it's too easy with the Big Goron Sword) Since it was my console etc. I had the power to impose my belligerent demands on them. Ahhh, good times good times.
