MnP 53: Dark Souls - Gwyn, Lord of Cinders
HoboKa and one other reacted to Brandon Strader for a topic
That's what you get when you ask me to pick a source while I'm playing Dark Souls 3 Man, I love Motoi Sakuraba's work, it is so diverse. When I first heard he did music for Dark Souls I was like "What? My Star Ocean guy, did Dark Souls? Does it sound like Star Ocean? Or even Tales of?" Such a talented composer that isn't often spoken of, sadly, though it is deserving. Hoping to see some good stuff from this compo!2 points -
How about that the album has a tentative release date of April 25th (this Monday) according to Liontamer's album submission over on VGMdb.2 points

Undertale Dating Fight
Yosh1PrisMa reacted to YoshiBlade for a topic
Well Bunch of Johnny Come Latelies I am, to the Undertale party. Well this was done months ago, but I've been dragging my heels and haven't posted anything in the workshop in awhile, so I figured I'll put this up for notes, then consider going back to work on it. I've had a hard time watching the play through with out ruining the game (Full disclosure: I've yet to play it) and the one consistent track that offers no spoilers was this one. I liked how the fights were stop and start-ish ( I think quirky is the overused word to describe it), so I tried to captures that in the track. Thank You for the listen and all feedback is welcome! Paths Less Travelled: Terranigma - History
Troyificus reacted to Drawn by Dai for a topic
** UPDATE INCOMING * I've been away from the topic thread a short while. I have a good excuse though. TRAPPED NERVE IN MY SHOULDER! Luckily it's gone from an intimate and detailed experience in excruciating agony to the far more tolerable category "world of pain" thanks to industrial grade prescriptions. I'm not out of the woods yet, but at least I can sit down and type So... We're down to 8 tracks unclaimed from 34! They are as follows (Click name for source): European Town Freedom Southern Rhythm X Fyda Claimed by Nostalvania 26/04 Dungeon The Castle of Dragoon Dr. Beruga Boss Fight Get claiming if you think you can do any of them justice. SOME OF YOU EXISTING CLAIMANTS HAVE 1 WEEK LEFT BEFORE YOUR NEXT SUBMISSION DATE - MAY 1ST. I messaged those of you who are relevant to this a couple weeks ago, namely @HoboKa, @rebrained, @Sbeast, @Yami, @Jorito, @Sterbo708 so you should know who you are. I've granted extensions to a couple of ya, so don't worry if this is you. All other remixers should also know their submission date in their heads, if you've forgotten or are uncertain, hit me up. I have a full staggered deadline list. I'm super organised Anyway, Hopefully all remixers involved are squirreling away, and enjoying it. Let's keep this up. Some really great WIPs so far, you're doing Terranigma proud! Happy Mixing!1 point -
Dark Souls 3
Brandon Strader reacted to Brycepops for a topic
According to this, you can go and grab another one every 12 hours of character time. If the finger is making you crash, I would suggest you stop using it until they fix it.1 point -
When someone dies, it's good to honor them by remembering their best qualities and their finest moments. For some musicians (actors, celebrities, whatever) that might mean things they did earlier in their career. That's not wrong, that's just being respectful. Plus even if you don't think he was relevant since the height of his popularity in mainstream culture doesn't invalidate everything he's done since then. As far as 'big artists from the 70s and 80s' go he had a very prolific career writing albums and touring all the way up until his death...1 point

RIP Prince
Salluz reacted to The Damned for a topic
Oh, I'm not calling out bandwagon mourning here. If that's how you read it, don't get me wrong, here. I just said it happens. I never said I was going to, either. I just had a personal anecdote. The vast majority of people on this site have never even met in real life, myself included. Who are any of us to claim "you're not a real fan!"?1 point -
Best realistic virtual solo violin with realistic note modulation possibilities
timaeus222 reacted to Kat for a topic
In the Configure section there's a knob labeled "Responsiveness"(top right) that controls the attack. It's at 0% by default. Turn it up and notes will be played a bit sooner. Better yet, automate it so you can adjust it as needed throughout the song.1 point -
OCR03373 - *YES* Sonic Rush Adventure 'Jeweled Scepter'
Chimpazilla reacted to Jivemaster for a topic
Nice clean production with solid synth work. Arrangement seems fine. I will say by the mid point and second chorus things felt a bit samey, but there was enough fresh stuff and motif changes mixed in there to keep things going. Enjoyed the attention to detail in use of stereo space/panning of sounds, and effective yet not overused white noise drops. Kick is always audible against the bass, and leads are clear as they should be. Overall authentic rendition of the genre, not heard you do something like this before Kris. Nice work. YES1 point -

Max did such an amazing job with this one, and I really want to thank him again for taking on this source for BadAss 3 I usually feel that if people mix sources they're not very familiar with, the most creative and interesting remixes are the result, and this is no different: the feel of the original track is there and is immensely intensified (it really is a massive adrenaline building mix), and is complemented by some awesome original stuff (and guitar shreddage). And Max even incorporated the aimed overall feel of BA3 with the excellent addition of orchestral elements that give it an additional militaristic feel. It's certainly no coincidence that this has been (and probably will be) in my top 10 of most played tracks over the past year and a half (yeah, I've had this remix a little longer :P)1 point -
MnP 53: Dark Souls - Gwyn, Lord of Cinders
Brandon Strader reacted to Hipnotyk for a topic
Very nice pick. I think I'll try to give this a shot as working with piano-only source opens the door for a lot of possibilities. EDIT: Ugh, not enough time, have some deadlines I need to meet for some other projects and they're coming up quick. Looking forward to hearing what everyone comes up with.1 point -

.WAV File Won't Play, Won't Delete, Causes Windows Explorer Problems (Fixed)
Rapidkirby3k reacted to Meteo Xavier for a topic
If you can't see the full title, this problem is actually fixed and I'm not asking for help. Instead, I'm detailing and archiving the problem/solution so anyone else who might run into this ungodly issue may find it and get it solved. Problem: (As previously posted on Game Audio Denizens) I'm having one hell of a strange problem. I've finished a track I'm doing on commission and I go to export a .WAV of it and something in it is causing my Windows 7 computer to have some considerable issues. - Windows Media Player will not play it and causes it to freeze up. Winamp somehow plays it correctly. - If I have ANYTHING recognize it, then Windows will start hanging up, not showing certain folder icons, causing other bizarre hang ups I've never seen before. - I can shred the file with Glary Utilities, but it doesn't show so in the conventional way. It hangs up and freezes too, but the file is gone. - MP3s of the song works and does not give me the same problems. - My DAW, FL Studio 11, does not do this with other .WAVs. I did a whole other song file and it didn't give me the same problem. The fuck is going on here? Has anyone had this problem before? Edit: Rather, what I posted here doesn't include that one render of the .WAV absolutely would not vanish with Glary Utilities. Nothing I tried, Glary, simple delete, shredding with AVG, FileAssassin, using CMD.exe, rebooting, check disking, etc. Nothing would get this one render to delete, however the solution still applies. Solution: (Also previously posted on Game Audio Denizens) So last night I posted an EPIC problem that a .WAV file was giving my computer and was asked to post on it if I fixed the problem. Well holy ***damn motherfucking hell, I fixed it. After many attempts to delete it through conventional and hardcore computer maintenance means - shred with AVG, shred with Glary Utilities, that CMD.exe method, rebooting, disk checking and more, here's how I fixed it: Audacity. This .WAV file is pretty much Pazuzu but, oddly enough, Audacity and Winamp were able to open it and play it correctly. So what I did just now was open the problematic file straight from the original (don't make a copy or anything), put a fade-out on the whole thing (just to put a random effect on it) and export it under the same name. It gave me two files, the one with the same file name and one with old-1 at the end of it. But praise be to Jesus (and I mean that), that somehow fixed the problem. Not only was I able to delete the file, but I was able to salvage the final WAV too into a properly working file that I can give my employer. Take this down for future reference, denizens. If your sound file is completely fucking up your computer as if it was a virus, try opening it in Audacity, edit it, and see if that can work.1 point -
What games got better over time?
Sir_NutS reacted to Chernabogue for a topic
Does sex count? More seriously, games like Europa Universalis get better and better the more you play them. At first, I was really bad but learned a lot and got to appreciate all the aspects the game has to offer. And now I'm just okay at it.1 point -
EastWest Composer Cloud
Esperado reacted to Garpocalypse for a topic
It's replacing their Complete Composer Collection, so really you are getting more than what you used to get and at 30/mo ($7.50/wk) it would take 3 years to cover the lowest cost of CCC which was 7 libraries at around $1000. I'm not a fan of subscription services for the same reasons you listed but this is still a great deal with no need to spend it all up front. I'm planning on upgrading my EWQLSO to platinum for $275 then getting the Cloud for everything else. Once I get my new pc built, people won't be seeing me for a loooooooooong time.1 point
