  1. The People's Remix Competition Final Round (PRC472) PRCv20-13 Hello everyone and Welcome to the People's Remix Competition! This round is located at: https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC472 Source: Free Round (Every source is allowed, including making originals) This will be the last round of PRC. Since it's getting harder to get any songs in and I also lack time myself to be very active in it I decided to put it to an end. I don't feel anything for changing the setup of the contest or promoting it more. I'm happy that I kept it running this long. Many rounds got a good amount of songs and a voting stage but the last years it was hard to get any contributions. Still, PRC469 was the first round without an entry. I don't want this going with much rounds without entries, after 20 years it is good to end this contest. It's been a long time since I took over PRC from Rexy (after PRC130 back in October 2008, 15 years ago). The contest itself started back in late 2003. I want to thank everyone for this long, long time. If someone really not wants to end PRC and wants to take over the organisation of PRC he/she is free to start season 21 next year. Send me a PM if you want this to happen. Of course, PRC will not before there's a Final Round. It's a Free Round. Feel free to remix whatever you like, also making an original mix is allowed. You can also submit multiple songs. The remixing stage is the longest ever in the PRC history, over two months of time to make a good remix. The deadline is Tuesday December 26th 2023 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time (18:00 UTC, 19:00 GMT), check the link https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/PRC472 for the exact time left. Make sure that the song is uploaded to ThaSauce or that there’s a download link posted in this thread. This is the longest remixing stage ever in PRC. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that if you use ThaSauce, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix if you use ThaSauce. Of course you can also upload it somewhere else and put a download link in this thread. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. The winner of this round will be the last winner of a PRC round. No next round will happen so there's no need to pick a source for next round. You can find the full rules list at this page as well. GOOD LUCK! PRC Home Page

  2. Updated the first post. The main reason to quit is that I don't want this contest to end up with many rounds without entries. As written in the first post, PRC469 was the first real round when that happened. With my quick songs for both PRC469 and PRC471 these rounds still didn't end without a song. And of course I don't let this one end without a song as well. Nowadays people don't find their way to the forums and I don't feel anything to actively promote this on Social Media or somewhere else. PRC should stay PRC, after 20 years it is also a good moment to end it. After this I will still keep an eye on these forums. Let's make this round a good last one.

  4. Sad to see PRC go, but fully understandable. PRC has had a great run! PRC was a big thing for me when it comes to OCR and my music making in general. Many of my OCR posts are PRC entries, and there are still more coming.

  6. *Staggering out of foggy internet cave with undone tie and pizza-stained-shirt* I'm in for the last hurrah! Composing for PRC was a great experience and I really appreciate the community for making little events like this, it was great to mingle with other artists, so thanks to Bundeslang and everyone else involved with running this!

  7. Even if I've fallen off from them in recent times, I've good memories of remix compos and even produced some material I still look back on fondly. One more swan song, then!

  9. Hi @Bundeslang. First, I want to sincerely thank you for keeping PRC going for as long as you did. PRC was a huge part of my development as an artist in the early days of OCR along other older competitions like IMC and I made a lot of collabs and friends in these competitions. I am no longer making music, nor I am around online much but when I saw the email about this PRC being the last I had to jump in to salute and thank you and the oher artists. I would say the absolute best part of being part of the community by far were PRC and other compos. The constraints of the competitions I felt really helped me break out of some walls, and some of the remixes I made here both as sir_nuts and as showroom dummy made the jump to the front page. Again thank you and all of those who participated over the years. Hope you are doing great and wish you nothing but the absolute best in the future.

  10. Of course i will be setting up the round if there's a bare minimum of 3 or more, because i want people to be active, but yeah, this might be the future. Glad you still have the drive for music, and it would be fun to remake your first remix, so that sounds like fun.

  11. FWIW, if something like this happens for MnP, I'll be there, VG. Plan was to probably redo the very first PRC remix I've ever done, kinda demo my journey in the music making process since those years ago. Would be so happy to do it for MnP as well!!! Still remember both first rounds so fondly... ♡ And I still have the project files to boot!

  12. It is unfortunate, but i guess this is how it was meant to be. I'm grateful to see the old gang back together, for one last compo. ?

  13. Ugh, it saddens me a lot to see this now all of a sudden. Honestly I'm having a rough time in both personal and creative stuff and felt very discouraged for any music projects, to the point that I once considered to abandon and right now I'm having a similar internal debate about that. So I'm sorry I weren't any active in more PRC compos even when that was exactly my intention. In the other hand, I totally understand the lack of motivation of organizers to keep this thing alive seeing the lack of participation. Every month I have that feeling that whatever music I'm doing at the moment could be my latest work, and it's a really annoying and frustrating way to keep doing stuff, and I bet that's very much how people organizing this feels like too. Anyways I hope to have something done exclusively for PRC during these 2 months. Good or bad stuff or whatever, just to have some fun and contribute with something more.

  14. Absolutely not the arrangement I would expect for this theme, but it's so much fun and impressively put together all the same. Perfect fit for an October drinking party, polka at it's best.

  15. i could go either way, but i also havent submitted in a long time. im sad to see things have been tapering off. i wonder if its a forums things. people dont really use servers. is there a way to run this through the discord ?

  16. I can't help but smile while listening to this. The arrangement is not at all what you would expect to hear from the source, but this silly polka is what I expect from @General Grunt. Nice work to everyone involved. Prost!

  17. It's a shame, but i suppose it can't be helped.

  18. I can't say i'm surprised. MnP is suffering the same fate as PRC. I've set up a poll asking whether it should be on demand or not, and so far people are saying it should be. So similar to PRC, MnP will run it's course, and unlike PRC will transfer to a On Demand model. Shame it has to go, it was a lot of fun. But it was especially fun when people were around sharing remixes, and providing fun critique, but alas it's just not the same as it used to be. I'll hold out for this one, and write a farewell song for this round. It's been fun working with you all. Just for the record, i'm not leaving, i'm just not gonna be doing this every month. My poll closes on the 31st October, so the real results will come then. Thanks for being such wonderful people, here's to the future!

  19. Truth is, it's becoming a bit draining making rounds for what is gonna be no entries. I have a lot of stuff going on in the real world, and unless there was significant buzz, i feel like this is just getting popped up for the sake of it. So the poll i've made was kind of asking, if it's fine with the current format or if it's better on demand, and so far from the results, it's very likely it will be on demand. This means if you want to remix a video game source, you message me, and i will set up the round, compared to what it always has been, which is a round ever month. You could try the discord, but i think i'll just let it run it's course. It's been a fun couple of years running this, and even more fun participating when HoboKa was around. Maybe i just don't have the drive i used to, because of how many people are not entering. Thanks for the support anyways.

  20. Back again to where it all began... :0 This is extremely sad to see, and I wish this year I could've dedicated more time to PRC and MnP. However, Godspeed to everyone who was ever involved with either, and I still have fond memories of these even with my brief time doing them. ...But one more for old time's sake? *bro-fist* Hells yeah. Count me in.
