  1. I was wondering when Washudoll was going to jump in - was his addition recent?
  2. Split screen isn't as popular likely due to the rise of networked homes, wireless, and general evolution of technology. It still has some appeal for games & in a lot of ways a far superior social experience. Edit: DRM has been present before the rise of Steam and far more crappy. Steam helped curb a lot of the worst practices.
  3. I had a pretty tough time figuring out my vote. I have a tendency to give preference for full arrangements over polished lesser arrangements in general, but Ben didn't have one overly short either, and had enough meat for me to weigh giving my vote to him - if it were only 3 minutes he wouldn't have my vote for sure . Was not a huge fan of the implementation in his song but there was enough other stuff going on that I gave it to him - I actually wasn't going to vote for him on first listen!
  4. I listened to it a few times, but I couldn't come up with anything at that moment. I'll try to come up with something on another day.
  5. I had a pretty tough time telling, and I'm very familiar with those sources. Listened multiple times to the mixes too.
  6. Critiques! I apologize if these come off as harsh, I'm too tired to butter them up with details about positives (just ran 12 miles) - I may update them with more detail later in the week. Superior X - Vicious Liquids (Rainy Turtloid vs. Shieldner Sheldon) Pretty straightforward take on Rainy Turtloid here. I don't hear Shieldner Sheldon here, unless it's some unmemorable part used near the end of the song in order to emphasize the beatdown. The drums are plain & underutilized. Song needs to change up its tempo, too static here. Almost the whole second half of the song feels aimless to me - would be better to cut most of that out. Phonetic Hero - Shell Bros (Shieldner Sheldon vs. Rainy Turtloid) Production sounds messy here - lots of crowding in the mids & possible overcompression? The section with the delayed stutters sounds weird to me - needs more force behind the music before the stutters. Pretty brief cameo of Rainy Turtloid here. Tuberz McGee - Snail-Gator Jive #5 (Wheel Gator vs. Crystal Snail) Song has a disjointed feel to it - sax sounds too mechanical/rigid, could use some humanization. Synth could use some work too. Mixing gets too crowded near the end. Jakesnke17 - Sluggish Revolution (Crystal Snail vs. Wheel Gator) Snare could use some work, mechanical & tinny sounding. Instrumentation is a little thin. AMT - A Good Question (Flame Stag vs. Blizzard Wolfang) Vocals! Sounds overcompressed though, the guitars & vocals lack clarity. Song could use some more meat in the arrangement too. Mr. L - Blizzard (Blizzard Wolfang vs. Flame Stag) Drums could use some working, especially that snare - sticks out. Instrumentation is too thin - needs another instrument or few to help round things out and give a bigger sound. Song could also be longer. BlackPanther - Lone Journey (Blast Hornet vs. Vanishing Gungaroo) Wait what, that's it? Man...I was hoping for more and it just ends. Strings could use some work to sound less sample-like. Song is too quiet, drums are mixed too far forward IMO. Cash and Change - Ostriches Flying Over The Crescent Moon (Overdrive Ostrich vs. Crescent Grizzly) Interesting approach here. Synths need some work here, something about them in some areas sound...too thin perhaps? I can't quite put my finger on it. urdailywater - and what Comes around, will stay down (Frost Walrus vs. Optic Sunflower) ladyWildfire - kuwangawanga (Boomer Kuwanger vs. Magna Centipede) Little mixing issues here and there. The bass on the dub elements could be a little lower/stronger I feel, would probably have a bigger effect. Bass beat a little before 4:30 sounds underwhelming. Benjamin Briggs - Beetle Brawl (Magna Centipede vs. Boomer Kuwanger) I was wondering when the chiptune would creep in. The string synth is kinda meh. I'm probably in the minority, but this style doesn't get me really pumped in the biggest votable battle of the bracket (sorry Ben). Also I'd like to take the time to post that if you haven't heard Washudoll's Boomer Kuwanger from Maverick Rising, ! Having a tough time deciding this battle, I feel wildfire has the stronger composition but Ben has a much more polished song. I'll come back to this later on in the week.Prophecy - Vector Point Engineering Volt Buffalo (Volt Catfish vs. Blizzard Buffalo) Oh wow. Only 1 minute but I might have had to vote for this anyway. Good lord!
  7. Check the suite prices - I just know that they're not cheap. Also, if anyone goes that route, make sure there's ground rules set, since it's highly doubtful that that suite will sleep early, if at all (it's MAGFest after all).
  8. If I had to guess, the next bit of news will be when it actually launches again.
  9. Faced pro-gamer Triforce of Empire Arcadia and we froze Tetris Attack on VS. Mode. Beaten numerous #1 ranked teams in 3v3 & 4v4 in Warcraft 3 on ladder. Got all of the Goldeneye 007 unlocks legitimately! I HATED Double Dash. The item frequencies were so messed up in Double Dash, you could perform near flawlessly or flawlessly in 150cc and get screwed by an assault of lightning/blue shells. I remember one race I was so far ahead on Toad's Highway that at the end I got hit by 3 blue shells in a row on the final stretch and almost lost. I was about to go ballistic if I lost that race.
  10. *shrug* it's much easier to click a YT link IMO. The RSN file has some song name confusion, which makes it more troublesome for people to figure out sources, and the first post has a mix of song titles from the RSN & from the official release. This discussion has given me a good excuse to keep bumping the thread - I like the Breath of Fire soundtracks, so I'd like to see it turn into an official project .
  11. Kirby will eat Master Chief for breakfast and say HAAAAAI!
  12. Funny how I commented on the source a few days ago & how when I got up to Mt. Gagazet, the game broke me, and I come upon this mix. Despite that, I still love the source material, and this mix is a unique take on the beautiful melody. It crafts an atmosphere of an impending battle with its forward moving orchestra, only to pull back near the end into a gentle unknown. This is a well-done piece overall, and I love it!
  13. I'd like to also suggest that all of the tracks be listed, unless you have a particular concept in mind - you never know what might inspire someone to claim a track. You have some repeats on there as well. I recommend going off of the tracklist here: http://vgmdb.net/album/926 Discs 1 & 2 are Breath of Fire, and discs 3 & 4 are Breath of Fire 2.
  14. What I do is I make file directories for each person involved in a project so I keep WIP files separate and nicely organized - I'm a bit OCD when it comes to organizing music in folders though since I have so much. Edit: Also, it helps to save each file with the date too. For example if I get a wav, I always append the date to the end, so if I got one today, I would add 20120906 (military date format, but it also works nicely for organizing since files should be organized by year, then month, then day for standard Windows sorting by file name).
  15. If you're not actively recruiting/organizing, you're probably missing out on a lot of what makes projects successful. Sure, Majora's Mask is a fairly popular game, but oftentimes specific concepts don't happen on their own. You have to make it happen and show you're making the effort to make it happen in a directly tangible way.
  16. Just so you know, some of the YT videos linked in the first post are broken. And holy crap Chuck is a beast!
  17. I voted...and no, I did not ask for a project mix as a bribe .
  18. Hey, I passed on the word, let me know if you aren't activated by tomorrow!

  19. You guys should sub a proposal for official status!
