  1. Sup all! When gamers who have played God of War 4 decided to make “Boy”, the name Kratos constantly calls his son Atreus, into a popular meme, Smooth4Lyfe decided to create a remix. Check out the EDM remix called “BOY”, which turns the voice of Kratos into a hot club pumping beat. Hope you like!
  2. Source: Worked on a remix of the dungeon theme for a competition. Happy with how it came out, but I'm a little worried I may be stretching the melody of the original bassline a little too liberally. If it's not too far off the mark, I'll try and see if I can clean this up into something submittable for the panel. 3. Right, so I've been working on this remix of Duster's theme, Mind of a Thief from Mother 3. Its still pretty early on in development, I guess, but I wanted to get some feedback on how the audio quality is. After listening to it so much myself, I need other people to let me know how it really sounds. I still need practice with adjusting EQ's appropriately and all that mastering stuff. And I wonder if some of the instruments (the bass and strings) sound too fake, since all of them are synthesized or sampled. Aside from that, any other guidance would be very much appreciated, particularly in regard humanization; the drums especially. The're supposed to sound a little chippy, but I'd like to know if other people think it works. Obviously, without live instruments, its harder to get things to sound natural and energetic. Anyway, the download link is here: http://tindeck.com/listen/diuok Thanks for your constructive criticism!
  4. Here's a remix that started out quite close to the original, then took a turn to the funky side around the middle Since i'm thinking about submitting it i'm looking for honest feedback about arrangement, production quality etc. And especially: is it too far from the original to be submitted here? What do you guys think?
  5. This is a ReMix of my favorite track from either Vectorman game (though honestly it sounds better without headphones because of that crazy spread). Updated version, 5/28/18: So this turned out pretty experimental, with different field recordings and some game SFX, as well as a long vocal track that I had planned to be a focal point cut down to only the most essential few seconds. I tried to do a bit of experimenting in the mixing as well, with butting high-frequency stuff against lower stuff, and squeezing as much dynamic range as I could out of everything without things becoming too alienating or annoying. It's kinda artsy-fartsy, but more even more fun, I think. The GooDrive link is below the OG. https://drive.google.com/open?id=15OtpmPZX4siS0yVs0iifwMw03OdEhL7b
  6. Hi there! im new here, my name is gerard I made this remix from zelda, it's based mostly on serenade of water from ocarina of time, please tell me what do you think: -Gerard
  7. An extremely rough first draft. I'm playing the flute...but I don't have a mic right now, so I recorded my playing with a cell phone, and it shows. Wow, it sure sounds different on SoundCloud, the EQ is even more harsh. Oh well, it's a work in progress, after all:-D Edit 4-29-18 Redid this with a cheap mic I found laying around the house. Sounds a little better, I think. I'm going to redo this at some point this coming week if I have the time, the performance here has some rough spots.
  8. Hi, So I think the arrangement is close to done, but I need some advice on mixing. https://t.co/nbwZ1I6gc7 I'm kind of new to audio production, so I'm really open to any advice at all. I know there are places where I need to do something, but I'm not sure what. Thanks, I hope I'm doing this right. I'm kind of shy.
  9. Hello again Here is another WIP for a remix I'm working on. I'm trying to create a medley comprised of tracks that feature a certain pattern of notes and have similar chords. I had the following in mind: 1. Aerith's Theme (FF7) 2. Halo theme - bonus ending (see video at end of post) 3. Mermaid theme from Donkey Kong 64 4. A track from Xenoblade titled "Thoughts to a friend" The status of this track is that most of the FF7 part is done. There is a notable drop of instruments near 1:10, which is where I last quit. The Halo part is probably 50% done. I need to work on the ending/transition to the next part, which is tricky because I have to go from 3/4 time to 4/4 time. Part of the mermaid theme is already in there at the end, but I haven't done any original work on that yet. It just sits there as a placeholder. I could use some feedback on the transition parts and the overall composition. I've used MuseScore 2 with some fancy soundfonts, but it will probably need to move to FL Studio eventually for more control over channels and humanization. I'm also taking suggestions for a more fitting title Enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/user-227517766/the-day-gamers-lost-their-girlfriend-wip Sources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIqKWLkm2-g The bonus part starts at 3:20
  10. UPDATE 2: Latest version post feedback See this post for details. --- PREVIOUS UPDATE: Finished version ready for tweaking and fine tuning per your feedback https://soundcloud.com/user-227517766/trance-in-the-mines-life-in-the-mines-dkc-ready-for-feedback I added some more sounds (notably toms and some ambient pad), reverb and a somewhat proper ending. A section from the factory level makes a guest appearance. Kick and snare got a new sample, but the snare remains a bit of an issue I'm afraid. Overall I like it well enough. It started out as a bit of a joke remix, but gradually it grew on me. I'd like to submit it to the judges *lightning strikes* *wolf howls* - 0_0 - after I did all I could to add the finishing touches based on your feedback. Your input is much appreciated. The more specific you can be, the better (i.e. tell me at what point in the track something doesn't sound right or whatever). Thanks! --- Hello strangers I'd like to share with you a remix project that kind of materialized in my brain while I was supposed to be working on something else. This is a trance remix of Donkey Kong Country's mine level theme (Life in the mines). And by trance, I mean the kind of trance that I listened to growing up, mainly between the years 1999 and 2002. I just wanted to see if I could pull something like that off in FL Studio. I'm still learning to properly mix channels and all that good stuff, which no doubt will "show" through. I figured this would be a good exercise for that. Basically I'm going for that "old school" (European) trance feel. I'm not trying to be super original here. The track is still a work in progress. I plan on doing another breakdown/buildup thing at the end of it. I'm having serious trouble with volume. Somehow my own generated mp3's all sound really uhm, not loud. I'm not sure if its just my laptop, or my old PC speakers, or my crappy headphones. I'd like to invest in a good set of headphones for this kind of work soon enough. At this point I can at least tell the hi-hat is on the loud side, while the kick is possibly too soft. Anyway, what do you think? Am I on the right track producing that classic buildup/breakdown/buildup trance feel? Do these transitions work? Have I used a wide enough range of pitches (not sure if that's the right term there). PS: I made this from memory, and there is possibly a Halo influence in there which coincided with what I think the chords should be. PPS: for the title I have two options in mind: "Trance in the Mines" or "Frog Induced Trance" (a reference to Winky the frog, who appears in the first level this track plays in in the game). 11. Hello ancestral Here is a job I do for the Tenma Faraway Promise of Xenogear. Echo in FL Studio 12. Remastered in LAND https://soundcloud.com/marlon-rodr-guez-colombiologo/xenoremaster
  12. This is an attempted Trance remix of "Brinstar" (Metroid) for a contest. I tried to give the original an update my way (I have a rather unique style). After the contest I redid it and think it turned out good. Tell me what you guys think. Enjoy Track Here's a couple original pieces of mine
  13. Hiya! Well here it goes! I was recently playing this game again from childhood and out of all the tracks I chose this one to try to remix. (Death Stage) I don’t have a computer or even speakers at the moment just headphones and I used the Auxy Music Studio app to mix. If anything I hope it’s somewhat enjoyable to listen to and it would be great to receive some advice. : ) Heres the original : https://youtu.be/4tvCfyOoAII Heres the remix: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-whA2-6QyA2yA_IHU_FV2W_ZQbo6ke4D
  14. Hey, I'm currently working on a new mix and would like your feedback on what I have so far. My Remix: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1P0uffVk8ynQ1Yk58Sb2BIgIDu2I17FHD Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5CnV7mnhbs Thanks for listening
  15. This track has literally sat for years, the original source file lost long ago between computer upgrades. I listen to the MP3 I managed to save every now and then, think it sounds good, and that I should probably get back around to it, someday. Well, that day might as well be today. Behold: Chrysalis, a remix of SaGa Frontier's Alone. I went for a Crystal Castles kind of feel for it, so it comes off a little discordant, especially the lead synth. Granted, that synth could probably use some equalizing, especially on the sustained notes. I feel like I it may be a little too close to the source material as it is. All feedback is welcome. Thank you for listening.
  16. I've been messing around a lot recently with the soundfont for Golden Sun, applying it to other games, and this is one of the products thereof. I started out by using the same instrumentation as for the Elemental Stars Chamber, and ended up incorporating some of the melody, too (albeit adapted to a different time signature). Any tips on how to improve further would be very welcome! I know there are all kinds of idiosyncrasies at the moment (especially for dynamics and variation of velocities - not sure how much the GBA is able to do), but I'm not sure which aspects I should really be focusing on. Original tracks: (I don't plan to submit this particular track to the OCRemix, by the way - I'm just experimenting~ ^_^) Edit: My biggest concern for potential submission right now is whether unhumanised, raw GBA soundfont remixes are acceptable for submission. And, if not, whether treating the soundfont instruments as an orchestra, and applying realistic reverb and note velocity variation, would come across as very idiosyncratic.
  17. Hi everyone; newest remix here. I've tried to make the strings sound a bit more natural in this one, hence the hiatus in trying to get it just right, but aside from the sound, I devoted this piece to exploring and developing only a couple of thematic ideals; primarily Zelda's Lullaby. It's a Fantasia for Full Orchestra and Chorus, which contains material from a few of the Game Soundtracks in the LoZ series. I explored the different ways the Lullaby could be orchestrated and manipulated in terms of mood, timbre and contrapuntal manipulation, not just on its own, but with other themes closely associated to Zelda, most plainly in the central part, focussing on the endless relationship between Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf/Ganon throughout the whole series, and finally culminating, through its triumphant ending, the ultimate victory of good.
  18. Took me a while but here's another cover from me. As I had no intention to continue working on the Magus cover posted a few weeks ago, I moved on to other projects including this one. I think my mix has been cleaned up quite a bit, and progress is being made, but as always there is surely something to improve on. Let me know what you think!
  19. I started this some years ago, and now im thinking about reentering the remix-scene and get some feedback. I was trying some more "movie like" approach, like a tense scene that is building up to a battle.
  20. Hey guys! This is the first remix I've ever produced, and I would love to hear your feedback! I would especially love some on the production side, as I feel it's my deepest weakness as a beginner. Rough form aside, I hope you enjoy it! https://drive.google.com/open?id=156-_fa2bOLi7Tx5baFgX3XG5y3Is59TD
  21. Hi everyone ! I am currently redoing the soundtrack of the famous game "Mario & Luigi Partners In Time". I hope you will like the end result !!
  22. I apologise for the terrible title. I was (very slowly) working on an Apollo Justice follow-up to my Phoenix Wright vs Studio Ghibli orchestral theme, but found the orchestra just wasn't working. I kept hearing Kotos, Shamisens & Shakuhachis instead. Then when Logic Pro's terrible native library kicked up a few sample-related fusses, I had to use Ruan Moon Guitars, Erhu Violins, and the 'Asian' percussion kit. In other words, a terribly inaccurate range of traditional instruments! Think Kung Fu Panda meets N64 Ganbare Goemon. I'm generally pleased with how it's shaping up, but have lots of improvements in mind. Keen to get some feedback before I put too much more work into it. Here it is: And here are the sources: Thanks for listening!
  23. I started a remix of the Minish Village in a bluesier form. A little liberal in comparison to the original. Source: ReMix: Somebody Stole My Jabber Nuts
  24. Hey OCRemix, This is a remix of the Cipher Syndicate's theme from Pokemon Colosseum. This has been a project for a month on and off as a friend suggested that I should remix this track and see where it goes as we both love Pokemon Colosseum! I'm still very much a greenhorn when it comes to composition and production, and I'm still very happy with what I made and can't wait for people to listen to it. I eventually want to be able to have remix up on OCR and would like feedback in terms of what I could do better on this remix, and others that will come after. I hope I can at least make someone's day with my music. Here is the source: .Here is my take on it. Thank you for listening to a newbie's remix.
  25. Hey there, decided to finally make a song for OCR after thinking about it for 17 years. It's a linear track and many of the frequencies are quite extreme, for maximum tension-building. It has a piano run through a guitar amp to add a bit of volatility to its character, and other than the little flourish from 1:45 - 1:47, every note is sourced from several different Zelda melodies, with the Great Bay Temple being the most prominent chord-wise (and obviously percussion-wise). As the song goes on, it's meant to put the listener in that psychological space many people find themselves in at least once in their lives, when you're swimming underwater and suddenly everything goes from uncomfortable to desperate. Maybe I've over-explained myself, but let me know what you think, if you care to. Here's the OG. Here's mine. https://drive.google.com/open?id=18DPdGUQSrXCZcUZ0ZV8eLJe9zYISha7H My one concern is that the panning on the gated high frequencies is too extreme, or perhaps too loud on certain speakers, especially after the song quality is degraded on something like YouTube. Thoughts?
