  1. Original Source(s) (The same melody has been used at least 3 times in the Sonic Series, so I'll include them all): ...and my remix: While I think it's really close to complete, I still want to get any feedback I can, since this is my first "big" project and I've most likely messed some things up. Thanks for listening, Panfex.
  2. Hello! My name is Omar. I am a DJ from America and am planning on helping with a VGM remix Album. I would like to get any opionons on my 2 tracks if possible. I know musicians are very busy and pride themselves on the work they do. But any time you have to give a listen/opinion or share with friends is greatly appreciated. [UPDATE July 28th] There are 4 tracks 01. a remix of Streets Of Rage 2 (The Style is UK Freeform/Happy Hardcore/) 02. The second remix is a pop style remix of the Azys Lla theme 03. Nier Automata Amusement Park is also a pop inspired remix 04. Breath of Fire IV - Old skool style with 8bit. LINK: I am planning on getting a singer before going any further so there are a few production gaps in the files I provided. Thank you for your time!
  3. Hi! This is my first remix! I picked Volley Fire because I thought no one else would have made one (I was wrong) and I would therefore be free from judgement of my ability (hopefully not wrong) First I have to apologize for a couple things. 1. I'm using Finale, which is for writing music, not producing it. Therefore the instruments sound bad, particularly the guitar. 2. Finale is being a trash fire to me so I can't properly export it so the quality of sound is really bad. 3. It probably could have used a 3rd solo before the big ending, so it might feel like a rushed ending. With all that aside, hope you enjoy this.
  4. hello everyone. i just joined but i've been enjoying OCR content since at least 2005-2006. i started making my own music in 2009 and it's been one of my bucket list items to get a remix up on OCR someday. i'm sure megalovania remix submissions are a dime a dozen but here i go anyway. Tindeck link for those who prefer it since I know soundcloud is going to make it sound a little swooshy I finished this about a month ago and i've been toying with the idea of reworking and polishing it for submission to OCR, but ultimately i just don't know if it's good enough. anyone at all who's interested in telling me what i could be doing better is more than welcome to. i don't know for sure if I will end up submitting this song specifically or if i'll do something else entirely, but I really need to know what to work on as an artist. laypeople/non-audio engineer types have told me it sounds good, but i'm anxious that there are problems with dynamics/mixing/etc under the surface that I don't even realize are there. just lay it on me, be honest if there's something i'm blatantly doing wrong. i want to improve. making music is one of the things i'm most passionate about and I want to get better. I made this song entirely in a DAW called Auxy, which is free ipad app, though i used a lot of extra instrument packs bought in-app. im not very rich, so i only have a couple pairs of half-decent headphones to monitor mixing and dynamics in different-sounding headphones, aside from listening off my computer speakers. I'll likely buy a pair of Sennheiser or Bose cans for the purpose of making music specifically down the road, but for now I'm making do with a couple of Sony and RockCandy earbuds that were like 10-20 bucks. Again, any feedback from anyone is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  5. (Please be Aware I'm French, so my english is known to be sometime quite ... Frenchy. Sorry for that.) Edit : • 07/08 @22:57 GMT+2 : Fixed Version as Ready for review ! More info on Materials, and writing. Also Final Name ! • 07/04 @1:35 GMT+2 : Wip Update With bridge to part2 • 07/04 @08:23 GMT+2 : Wip update With Completed part2 with more source material (Sonic's Genesis robotknik(s), Final-Fantasy VI hear-alike, "Batman" hear-alike, and some other micro-cameos) Hello World ! I'm coming back from the dead since my OCR01946 of ... 2009 (with another account since I've lost the other one's email Long time ago). Anyway here it is, an "Orchstral" Rework / Whole new sight on the Infamous "2Players VS" of Dr Robotnik's Mean beans Machine. I think I've already heard the original tune going endlessly in mind-breaking loops for Something like 18h straight when I was younger. Two decades after that, I'm up with a W.I.P. of an expiation of sort. It's meant to be a First track of an upcoming series called "Eggman Plays The Orchestra" so it's voluntarily meant to be "huge" as a "catchy" announcement to what's coming next. As usual with me it's written with a lot of ostinato's and Staccato's, with distinguishable part. The main part's are written in 4/4 for the first one (Dr Robotnik Mean bean machine), and alternating 9/8 and 12/8 for the Second part (Mainly Eggman theme from Sonic & Knuckle as a base). The song name "La méchante Machine à Haricot" is a straight French translation of the "The Mean Bean Machine" locution, which fits quite well for Eggman's behavior and being, I thought. I Hope it sounds at least pleasant for your ear or your mind (if you have the same Sega's puyo-puyo trauma as I have). Hoping for feedback, hopefully the unpleasant one's are the most important to go through so... Don't hesitate to be rough ! Best Regards, C. The Song : • mp3 : http://www.brigato.fr/files/CBLMMAH.mp3 • Soundcloud : The Original Materials : More materials from : Various Sonic/S&K cameos, Final Fantasy 6&7 hear-alike (Intro from FFVI, Jenova from FFVII, Kefka From FFV6I, Decisive Battle from FFVI...)
  6. Hi all, I recently had my first submission to OCremix rejected with some very good critical feedback. I will be reworking the track based on the feedback from the judges. The guitar synth sound and the overall mix need some work. I'm still learning production techniques, I had outsourced the mixing and mastering for that track on fiverr. Since submitting the first track, I've been working on a Tyrian Title theme remix. This mix uses the same guitar sound I used in my first submission, so I am aware of it's limitations and will be reworking both this and my first submission using Shreddage as suggested by Liontamer. That said, I've been learning buss mixing and sjidechaining techniques and I mixed this one myself and mastered with Landr. Aside from the guitar sound in general, I'm looking for feedback on the mix quality and what I could do to improve the sound. Happy listening!
  7. Hey guys, I am working on a collection of songs from Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga in celebration of the 3DS HD Remaster, Since Super Star Saga was one of my favorite GBA games back in the day, I hope that you guys can help me recreate some songs from the series, I don't even mind you guys partaking in the collection of songs! Here is my first song in this collection, A rearrangement of the boss theme
  8. Hi everyone - I tried to mash up the FF6 Airship theme from the World of Ruin with Frog's theme from Chrono Trigger. This was a tricky remix, since individually these songs are stylistically independent. But I played the melodies over each other, and thought that it was a great enough fit to try a remix. I experimented a lot with different instruments for leads, especially for Frog's theme. Normally I would never use a trumpet but here, it felt just right! Hope you guys enjoy it!! Any feedback appreciated, good or bad. Always willing to learn to get better Remix Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opa-ADmpmsU Source (FF6 Searching for friends): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnvZ6Dqv7Ws Source (Chrono Trigger Frog's Theme): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp7PYi5b8jg
  9. Alright, I can't stop with all the ideas, I'll never get anything done at this rate. I'll make this into an arrangement of History Unfolds from Soul Calibur 2, and hopefully I'll find someone to do guitar for this. Remix: Azure Lightning Strikes (History Unfolds ReMix) Source: EDIT: I'm editing the drums now to make it more interesting, I know the arrangement is fairly short, but so is the source, I know the source usage here is sparse even though that part that I wrote uses the main chord progression just very very different rhytmically, I dunno hopefully this'll be good.
  10. Hello there, This is my first arrangament for OCRemix: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x0npzk4bc7443g8/Into The Calm Of It.wav?dl=0 Right now is not finished (it ends abruptly at 1:33). I will add more parts, the mix and mastering still need work, and I will make more minor changes to the the arrangament to make it more interesting I have choosed a song from Secret Of Mana, and my idea was to rearrange the song into something more calmer, more contemplative. Maybe it will differ from the original but my idea wasn't to cover exactly the original song, but making something new from the original ideas of the composer (without adding new melodies or harmony). Here is the original song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKoFzNfQdA I would like to receive any type of feedback. Arrangament/interpretation, production, performance, strucutre, etc... Note that this is my first arrangament, I've always composed original music, so... any tip is welcome.
  11. As one of my favorite video game composers, I had to remix a Naoki Kodaka ("Blaster Master"/"Batman"/"Raf World") piece at some point. Here's something I'm currently working on, inspired by one of many beautiful tracks taken from Sunsoft's SEGA Saturn RPG -- "Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean": It's still drafty, but feel free to share feedback and advice while friends and I work on arrangements and lyrics writing EDIT: Lyrics (ver. 1.0) are now available in the SoundCloud description of the track.
  12. This was a song I remixed a while ago, but frankly, it wasn't good by any means. So I'm deciding to "use tackle" on this one again with a little more style. ReMix: Bubbles Shining Over the Sea ReMix Source:
  13. Original Song : I know it just kinda ends but for right now I want to get the balance right.
  14. Hey OC Remix community! I am still improving my production and composition skills with the little time that I dedicate to writing and producing. I am hoping that get some input that will help this remix be appropriate for submission! As a caveat, I do plan on recording a few classical instrument performances (I play the clarinet) and I will humanize the piece a lot when I near completion of the piece. I also have not "master mixed" the piece. However, I think that this piece is coming along nicely. I intended for this piece to mix classical with electronic elements (there are two synths). Phantasy Star IV's music does this well so I wanted to also incorporate that into this remix. I also am mashing two pieces of music into one remix because the first song I chose was a bit thin on length (content). The two pieces have a similar vibe and they are Requiem for Lutz and The Age of Fables. I would consider this approximately 55% done but that's a rough estimate. I don't know how much more can be done exactly but there are a number of ideas floating around in my head (got a head ache). Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Download of the remix in progress: http://www.tonalbliss.com/music/displays/truthbetold_4.mp3 The two original tunes I'm basing my mix on on YouTube: https://youtu.be/uH-4DZWv5fI?list=PLirSddeMOYZ5E_9xpoTRYi3ksQmlFPdFL and https://youtu.be/afEQQhQajLE?list=PLirSddeMOYZ5E_9xpoTRYi3ksQmlFPdFL
  15. This is just a rough draft but an idea I had while fiddling around with some hip hop/lo-fi sounding fonts. Feedback, ideas, if anyone wants to rap to this? I'm not done with it yet, but I'll hopefully get the full thing done soon. ReMix: Mario World - Map/Star Power Themes ReMix Source: Map Star Power
  16. Here I am toying again with an old Lemmings song: Remaking it with Fruity Loops. So far drums are looping but the soundscape is taking shape https://app.box.com/s/z5xw1eqhjk7vj85lt463ojhxg8y8c2mr Feedback is always welcome. Hope you enjoy anyway
  17. This mix is very early on at the time of this post and is actually missing some things I wanted to do with it, but I'd also like to know if it's really worth pursuing. This is actually a project that's been sitting on my hard drive in various forms (all of them very unfinished) since around 2009, I think? I feel like it needs some countermelody right now; being locked into the same chord progression the whole track is kind of boring, it's WAY too close to the original piece in a lot of ways, and production hasn't even been addressed yet other than some really basic compression and EQing. After listening through a few times I have also just decided that I don't like the drum samples I'm using all that much. Plus there's a section where I just kind of randomly noodled on a keyboard and it doesn't make a ton of sense. Oh well. Thoughts? Link to WIP Original theme
  18. I've made the track using Default VST's just tweaked enough to sorta emulate the vibe of the original instrumentation. Hopefully you enjoy it. That's what I want to achieve. Last Update: After some revisions and taking feedback into consideration, This track is being labeled W.I.P. until I get a new version done. (it's gonna take a while.) Original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uX0hU7jQ5O4 The NYC Streets Break or Tabla Break has a tempo change and some changes in the strings chords to complement the piece in general and I didn't want it to sound like a medley. https://youtu.be/RgIE6Pb_MFE?t=51s And finally I threw in UNATCO's main melody in the very end. https://youtu.be/nBPK_oXeJgA?t=22s
  19. Heard my roommate playing one of the asteroid levels the other day and I heard a lot of potential for this one track. Let me know what you think of it, I'm particularly proud of the solo
  20. Submitted this for MnP and I'm wondering if it has some potential. Fire away. Original:
  21. This is my remix of the Balrog Theme from Street Fighter 2 - in honour of the Street Fighter series, the character Balrog and his badass theme and of course in honour of Mike Tyson - one of the best and straightest boxers in human history. Original game track: >>> ---------------------------------------- Newest version of my remix: 1.2 >>> >>> https://clyp.it/0qz3jt4t Further information relating to the newest update of my remix you can find in the description of the Youtube upload.
  22. This is a remix of "Cave 2" (Might and Magic 5: Dark side of Xeen). I originally did a similar mix for PRC. I switched the cowbells for bongos and added an Indian Raga drone in the background. I work hard on my remixes and like to make soundscapes with emphasis on melody, weird extra percussion, looping repetition, and slightly abrupt endings. Tell me what you guys think and how it can be improved. I may also put another mix on here later. Piece being remixed (for reference) Enjoy
  23. What's up folks? Dex here. I've been playing live music for about 20 years but I'm pretty new to making music on a computer. I've always thought that Final Fantasy Legend II had an incredible battle theme, so I decided to learn more about computer music by remixing it! The remix is mostly in a metal style, but I change it up a bit toward the end. I'm planning on adding a little bit more to it and ending it in a metal style, but before I work on that I'm curious if anyone has any feedback on the work I've done so far. The first couple of seconds of the remix are from the overworld theme that you hear in the game right before you get into a battle, btw. Source material (overworld theme): Source material (battle theme): Current draft (Soundcloud compression damages the audio quality a bit, but I think the main ideas come through):
  24. Hi everyone! I'm currently working on a remix of DDD from SM64. I actually played the melody from memory, so it might sound a bit different than the original. It's still unfinished (hence the abrupt ending lol). I didn't do much in terms of mixing, so i guess it will need some work in that regard too. 25. The hot summer inspired me to make a remix of the NES game Star Tropics. It's a remix of the dungeon theme. It's still far away from being finished - but I hope you'll enjoy it. Original game track: >>> ---------------------------------------- Newest version of my remix: 1.4 >>> >>> https://clyp.it/ggch1nth Have fun and enjoy the awesome summer time! ))
