  1. A piece I threw together and recorded at my house, I'm just looking for feedback on the composition more than the recording standards itself, But pointers on how to record are well taken as I don't really do Mixes. It was recorded in audacity too make it that much more disgusting. But thank you to everyone who listens too this, it's probably the first video game thing I have recorded properly in a while, and yes All parts bar the drums are real instruments, recorded one over the other.
  2. I just finished my Zelda Metal Medley (featuring 9 songs) from the Zelda series. I also spent a while trying to make the video look as interesting as possible to go with the song.
  3. On Sunday I created a chiptune for the PC-8801MkIISR/YM2203. It's a re-arrangement of the windmill song, and takes advantage of a few technical tricks that the YM2203 is capable of. Anyone who knows me, knows that this track will run on PC-88 or PC-98 hardware (this video was made with a render from the original 2kB driver program file that tells the chip what to do—that's right, you can use code to make music!) It's one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite games, so there was no way I could just let it pass me up. This is the original.
  4. Needs an ending + drums (blah...) other comments?
  5. I spent a few weeks here and there working on it, and this is the first time I tried to film myself during the creation process. I had the hardest time trying keep my guitar sound consistent, and sadly had to compromise with a buzzing in it here and there. I hope you guys enjoy it.
  6. Hello everyone! In my off time I've been composing virtual orchestrations of some of my favorite NES games. I got some time to finally flesh out and compose a piece based off the original first NES game ZELDA. I hope you guys enjoy! I do music for indie video games.
  7. It's today. 30 years ago, on February 21st, 1986, The Legend of Zelda came out in Japan, and it's been a good ride ever since. The first of a years worth of video game birthdays, but certainly not the least. Just don't let Ganon have all the cake!

  10. Hello everyone! I'm trying to do a remix of some of Bach's music with Gerudo Valley in an interesting way. There are at least three different Bach works referenced here. I feel I need to rework the drums and rhythms at some places. Also, I'm still working out the ending, but I wanted to share it here. Let me know what you think! Thanks, Rodok ARRANGEMENT / INTERPRETATION [ ] Too conservative - sticks too close to the source [ ] Too liberal - not enough connections to the source (too much original writing) [ ] Too much direct sampling from original game audio [ ] Borrows heavily from non-source material (eg. a theme from a movie) PRODUCTION [ ] Too loud [ ] Too quiet [ ] Low-quality samples [ ] Unrealistic sequencing [ ] Generic/cliche sound choices [ ] Drums have no energy [ ] Overcompressed (pumping/no dynamics) [ ] Mixing is muddy (eg. too many sounds in the same range) STRUCTURE [ ] Lacks coherence overall (no "flow") [ ] Not enough changes in sounds (eg. static texture, not dynamic enough) [ ] Pace too plodding [ ] Too repetitive [ ] Too short [ ] Abrupt ending PERSONAL COMMENTS (positive feedback, specifics on checklist criticisms, any other thoughts)
  11. Hi. This is my new cover from Zelda : A Link to the Past. Princess Zelda's Rescue. Enjoy
  12. Hey everyone. This is my band's take on the ever-popular Dragon Roost Island. We believe it is a fresh approach to a tune that has probably been covered to death, so hopefully you enjoy it as much as we do. As always, the vast majority of instruments were recorded live, including the ocean drums! We also just overhauled our hardware setup, so any production critiques are more than welcome. Thanks for listening! source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRWq53IFXVQ
  13. Hey Guys! I just started a new Tribute to Zelda playlist and I am very happy to share my first track of the playlist with everyone. BACKSTORY------------ While studying music in college I went back and listened to much of the music from the video game series of Zelda and realized how genius the music was. I fell in love with it all over again and wanted to rearrange and recreate it. Soon after I tried to started, things fell apart as I couldn't find the resources or motivation to actually follow through. A couple of years later I've finally decided to try again and see where things go with it. ------------------------------- Original - https://youtu.be/bAMzIihPjAg?t=42m48s Remix - https://soundcloud.com/roryglenn/fairy-fountain?in=roryglenn/sets/tribute-to-legend-of-zelda I had a sound in my head when I started writing. A large ensemble with the addition of some unusual instruments, like a plucked piano mixed with a room of five different harp players playing the same melody. Quickly after I did that, I threw in the orchestra, some ambient sound design, and synthesizers to round out the sound, and there you have it. I would really appreciate it if you could provide me with any feedback whatsoever. Hope you like it, -Rory
  14. I was browsing in some of my old project folders and i found this Zelda piano remix attempt of Sheik's and Zelda's theme (and also Item catch, Lost woods at the end) i made about 3 years ago. I think i was experimenting with different harmonies and stuff. https://app.box.com/s/t1k8zacbc3lnnl04tllzhp0sqbhjal7i I don't know if i'll ever continue with this (probably not), but i thought i'd share it here, maybe someone likes it -Markus

"Instead, I focus on experimenting with and combining iconic themes to spark the listeners' imagination, creating new thematic and musical narratives. This is a method that I have refined through my piano works--Piano Collections FINAL FANTASY XII and Valkyria Chronicles Piano Pieces--and I hope that you enjoy discovering and rediscovering the classic music of the fifth generation of consoles!" Additional arrangers include lead Valkyria Chronicles orchestrator Nicole Brady, Tristan Coelho, and guitar duo With Ether, who have recorded an energetic medley from Grandia. 19. Here is a Funky/Jazz remix of the Fairy Fountain theme i'm working on. https://app.box.com/s/hy3ypsg4ymq60b23t2vmf4up4327c8g6 It's unfinished and i'm not sure how to proceed with the arrangement, a drum solo perhaps?
  20. Took a bit longer on the mix/master with this one to get rid of some of that middy blurriness and garbage. Still not perfect, but I'm rather proud of it!
  21. I have never played Skyward Sword in my life, but i think Fi's Theme is the most beautiful piece ever made for this saga. So i felt like making a remix of it: Source: Fi's Farewell - Game: The Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword Link to Remix: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/93823550/%5BFinished%5D%20Goodbye%20Fi.mp3 For the first time in my life i tried to be not conservative with a remix (Well, the first half is still conservative), but the the second half is basically my own take on the motif. I hope you enjoy it.
  22. Hi there I was in the mood for some solo piano lately, and this time i did something i've never done before, i used songs from games that i haven't played myself Sources: The Wind Waker https://youtu.be/1UZ1_UfZlUc?list=PL67291BDCD76884B2 (Aryll's theme) Link's Awakening https://youtu.be/WKPG3cGxtJU?list=PL67291BDCD76884B2 (Mabe Village) And there's also a bit of Ocarina of Time at the end Remix: https://app.box.com/s/n0my5g5zu0t9cujhpcl2xsjfqf6gnp05 Cheers Markus
  23. I always wanted to remix Dark World from lttp, and i always thought that it would fit into a 7/8 rhythm (and i was right). Not finished yet, but here's what i've got so far. Remix: https://app.box.com/s/qmjsrz4t86go1xrkaj7hw662iflng5ng Source: http://youtu.be/fde_HaMXCo8 Definitely a more faithful approach, do you agree?
