  1. Hi! Here's my remix of the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za theme. For some time I scoured the net to see if there existed a metal remix of the track, because I had this vision of one and I wanted to find out if anyone had done this before. So, here it is: https://soundcloud.com/sallejh/the-path-of-now-and-never-cover-of-ur-quan-kzer-za-theme-from-star-control-2 The original track is really short, so the arrangement is quite different from that. Also, I've never before even tried creating anything "metal", so this is my try ever on electrometal . An old friend joined me in this project with his guitar skills and in the process the track changed quite a bit, but now we consider it finished. Here's a link to the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VNul2QETPE
  2. In my ten years as a member of OC Remix, I've only ever once submitted a song to the judges, and said submission was soundly (and rightfully) rejected. Since the time of my last submission (approximately eight years ago), I feel that my musicianship has improved markedly, both in terms of my ability to arrange a song, and my ability to play instruments. As such, I am submitting a remix that I feel confident will get accepted, and even if not, I am still satisfied by how much I've grown as a musician. Having said all that, my remix is of the ever popular (at least among us YouTube remixers) "Jazzy NYC" by Hideki Okugawa. The composition originated with 1997's Street Fighter III: New Generation, but the latest iteration appears in 2016's Street Fighter V. Five versions of the theme have appeared throughout the main Street Fighter series (Underground Edit, Street Edit, NY House Mix, '99, '16). My remix is based primarily on the Underground Edit. I incorporated the police sirens, and part of the violin melody, but dispensed of the James Brown/Lyn Collins sample. I opted for a guitar solo in place of the marimba solo found in the original song, which was a choice influenced by the Street Fighter V version of the theme. A number of disparate musical influences contributed to the sound of this remix, including; Kool and the Gang, Joe Daniels (Local H), Janet Weiss (Sleater Kinney), Victor Wooten, Cliff Burton (Metallica), and A Tribe Called Quest. Other useful information about this song BPM: 107 Style: Jazz Software: GarageBand, Audacity Instruments: Ibanez Talmon Guitar Midi Controller: Casio CTK 2300 Guitar Interface: iRig Street Fighter V - Jazzy NYC Remix ("Bronx Bomber") Source Material: Street Fighter III New Generation - Jazzy NYC (Underground Edit) Feedback is welcome, and appreciated. I hope that the judges enjoy my remix enough to add it to the OC Remix database.
  3. Hi, I submitted this for a review a few days ago. Feedback is appreciated! I love the soundtrack to this game so much Soundcloud link
  4. Here's a remix I am working on of the Kokiri Forest theme from Ocarina of Time. I just had an itching for some latin music. I know the arrangement is quite liberal, but I think it flows well enough. Enjoy the mix! ReMix Edit #1: "Hey Saria, There's a Fiesta Down in Kokiri Forest" ReMix Edit #2: "Hey Saria, There's a Fiesta Down in Kokiri Forest 2.0" Remix Edit #3 (MOST RECENT): "Hey Saria, There's a Fiesta Down in Kokiri Forest" Final Bounce???: "Hey Saria, There's a Fiesta Down in Kokiri Forest (Final)" Source Tune: Pleased to say I'm working with @Bowlerhat for some live flute on this track! Gonna be great.
  5. Hey, all, nice to meet you! First submission on OC Remix, sweetness! We just released a Mighty No. 9 remix on SoundCloud that we wanted to share with you all. I know some of you may feel some sort of way about that particular name, but as with most Mega Man-inspired things, the music was definitely worth remixing! This is based on the main theme song of the game, composed by Manami Matsumae. Hope you dig it! - ichordic
  6. Hi guys i made this remix a while ago , have a listen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DPm56ZsA8s
  7. I started working on this remix a few months ago, been on ice since then until this weekend. Damn it was a long time ago I could finish a song in just 2 days. So what do you think? Would it be something for the OCR community? Everyone loves the Zelda melodies, right? <3 //Glejs
  8. Since the album I did this track for is out, I can finally share this remix I did of Xenogears' Wings. Inspired by synthwave group The Midnight? Naah, not at all Had a lot of fun making this. With all the collaborations, arrangement shuffling and things being quite different from the source but also still recognisable, I’d say this was an interesting experiment. I think it turned out well and can be enjoyed as a standalone piece even if you’re not aware it has its roots in VGM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WJr_eVmvfQ
  9. Tarrey Town was my favorite track in Breath of the Wild; I loved how it mixed in themes from other places in the game as you built it up. I tried to remake the start variant and full variant in the beginning, keeping close to the original, and then expand on it with themes from other places in the Zelda series as well. So imagine Tarrey Town in the Zelda Universe now, I guess. Extra themes in order of appearance: OoT Kokiri Forest OoT Lon Lon Ranch OoT Castle Market OoT Kakariko Village OoT Gerudo (The plucked instrument) OoT Goron City WW Dragon Roost WW Outset Island MM Astral Observatory MM Clocktown SS Skyloft Zelda Theme These were just some of my favorite places in the Zelda series and I thought that I could mix them in well enough. Please let me know what you think! Maybe which ones mixed in well, not so well, or other themes that might fit in their too! I plan on submitting this to OCRemix, if a judge could help me out and let me know if they would accept it. Thanks! Original:
  10. Hi! Me and some friends from Uni have this neat thing where each of us make VGM remixes every november. I chose a Chrono trigger mix because I'm playing through the game for the first time right now and it's amazing! I've have listened to the soundtrack for the longest time but never got around to playing it until now. I am now looking to see if the song is worthy of being submitted to this site. The song is an attempt att making rock/metal but without guitars and instead having a heavily distorted organ fill in its place. I would appreciate all the feedback. Here is the Remix: Newest updated version here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=12-qkJ2cy7DSHaMHFj3_MBoxhcfR90_eH Here is the Source:
  11. Hey everyone. I've known about this site for years but only just now decided to contribute something. It's a song from Kirby Air Ride. I blitzed the song in a few days but I didn't realize the review/acceptance process took so long and in hindsight I could have come here for critique and stuff but I guess it's too late now. Oh well, I'm generally happy with how it turned out anyway and got to learn and try out a few new techniques in the process. I also don't really know why I picked this song in particular aside from liking the bassline. There are much better songs from this game I could have chosen; the second movement in this song really stands out weirdly and I was getting annoyed trying to fit it in my composition. I did end up combining another song though, which I thought mixed in well. Anyway, here it is, enjoy! (P.S. I was originally going to start with a remix of Aquatic Ambience until I realized that it's one of the most over-mixed songs on this site and people are getting sick of it. It's such a good song though!)
  12. This is a ReMix of my favorite track from either Vectorman game (though honestly it sounds better without headphones because of that crazy spread). Updated version, 5/28/18: So this turned out pretty experimental, with different field recordings and some game SFX, as well as a long vocal track that I had planned to be a focal point cut down to only the most essential few seconds. I tried to do a bit of experimenting in the mixing as well, with butting high-frequency stuff against lower stuff, and squeezing as much dynamic range as I could out of everything without things becoming too alienating or annoying. It's kinda artsy-fartsy, but more even more fun, I think. The GooDrive link is below the OG. https://drive.google.com/open?id=15OtpmPZX4siS0yVs0iifwMw03OdEhL7b
  13. So a friend of mine challenged me to remix this theme in the Goa / Psy Trance style. Well, I like a challenge. So, here is my first attempt at Goa Trance. Looking for feedback on the style, sound, eqing, everything. I'm new to this genre (and this site), so let me have it. Thanks! Forgot to add that... UPDATE: Link updated. See post for more info. UPDATE 2: Did a lot of fleshing out and some EQing. UPDATE 3: Added some more goodies and did a final master. I feel it's ready for submission. UPDATE 4: Did a complete redo of the mixing. I had to change some instruments to make things blend well. UPDATE 5: Fixed some stuff (the bassline most noticeably)and did another mastering attempt. I think it's ready to submit. FINAL UPDATE: Alright, so I did a final master and sent it off to be judged. Phew, I hope they enjoy it!
  14. I think I'm doing this right I'm new to OC Remix (a buddy of mine suggested I sign up and share this so there I am!) Anyway this is a mix I did for fun a while ago for Horizon Zero Dawn and submitted to OC Remix as well. (I've got a few others I'm sitting on as I'm just getting into the the whole game remixes thing) Horizon Zero Dawn - Song for Aloy (DJKA mix) Hope you all enjoy it
  15. Hi Everyone - this is our recent piece - a remix of themes from Elemental Master - a 1993 (NA) Genesis game. Would love to hear some feedback. Hope you enjoy it. https://megalixir1.bandcamp.com/track/brother
  16. I think I would have had to totally rewrite the last track to get it up to standard (big thanks to The Damned and Rotten Eggplant for the feedback last time! =D ), and couldn't bring myself to do so. That notwithstanding, I think I incorporated most of the suggestions for this one: not substantially altering the harmony from the original; not including fake-sounding drums; including a bass part for more of the piece; and adjusting the orchestral swell at the end so as not to drown out the flutes. Comments/further feedback would be very welcome! BTW, the original track is here, for comparison:
  17. My favorite boss theme of the whole franchise! I hope you enjoy this track!
  18. Sup dudes and dudettes! I've just submitted my most recent work, a metal cover/remix of Ruby Illusions in Sonic Mania. Would love to hear what you guys think! Mucho Love <3
  19. Guitars by @Furorezu and bass by @Furilas Thanks, guys! Feedback on the mixing will be very appreacited. Thanks. REMIX: https://www.dropbox.com/s/doio4d9cm5medj7/GS - Full Moon.mp3?dl=0 SOURCE:
  20. Hey guys, how's it going? My first post here. I have a remix from one of my favorite games, Link's Awakening. This one was a lot of fun to remix. Once it took off, it pretty much made itself, like I was both the driver and the passenger. I’m looking to see if I can get a second opinion on where I can improve. Particularly, if there's anything in the mix that stands out, or perhaps in the arrangement. Thanks a lot. I wasn’t planning on submitting this officially, but I changed my mind and decided to give it a shot.
  21. Hi! This is my first post here and I feel a bit sorry that it is a rather egoistic post where I show off my own stuff. But I will try to invest some time reviewing other songs too. I started a series of Secret of Mana covers. Sadly it's not suitable for OCRemix because I use the original titles as inspiration for my lyrics and keep those titles. This is part of the concept. I try to imagine the songs of the game as songs for a singer and the titles are hints for the stories the songs want to tell. I also play as much instruments as I can and I hope that I can get some collaborators to play other instruments too or sing some parts for the series. I release the songs on my YouTube channel and make videos with a performance of the song (as I always do with my songs). Feedback is highly appreciated and will be taken seriously.
  22. Hey everyone! We are somewhat new to posting here, but wanted to share our latest track. I've been a long time lurker on OCR, but finally ready to start producing/submitting remixes. This is our first submission, which was submitted a few weeks ago. Would love any thoughts/comments/feedback on the mix! This is a remix of a really short/simple song in Breath of the Wild that plays at the Flight Range in the Hebra region. It's basically a more melancholy/chill take on Revali's theme. I was listening to it in game and got inspired to do a trance remix! I didn't initially think it was good enough to submit, but I showed it to Jewbei, one of my favorite trance remixers who I have been connected with on FB for years, and he liked it and encouraged me to submit and gave me some tips on my mix. So a BIG thanks to him for doing that! We hope it gets accepted, and even if it doesn't we will try again! Anyway, without further ado, here is our remix of "The Flight Range," which we have titled "Take Flight." I hope you like it and welcome any and all feedback and discussion! Also on Soundcloud for better quality: Also, on another note, we are definitely looking to make more remixes, and if anyone wants to collaborate some time, let me know! I play keys (jazz/soul/gospel styles mainly), guitar, and sing, as well as produce with the latest version of FL Studio.
  23. Hello Everyone! As I'm new to this forum, I'd like to start off by posting here something I've recently completed. It's an Orchestral Arrangement of Lake Floria from Legend of Zelda - Skyward Sword. Being a classically trained composer, not a mixer, I don't really know if this is the best place to share this kind of music, but as a musician who has orchestrated and provided music for the SotG Concert, I'd like to share some of what I have done/am doing. The link to the Soundcloud page is below. If it's popular, I will post more in the future.
  24. I'd like to submit my recording and arrangement of the final theme from The Adventures of Lolo. It's a kick-ass tune and I've arranged all of the original notes to be played live on the piano. So, in that regard it's extremely conservative. Performing all three voices live and accurately is, I think, innovative. I would like some feedback on the recording quality and mix. I used three mics - 2 Octava 012s in facing left and right inside the piano and a Rode NT5 just outside the piano facing the strings. There is some light compression and reverb. Here is a video of the recording - And here is my version - Thanks for watching and for any feedback! Rob
