Zombie Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Well? I'd have to say I don't listen to them as regularly as I use to, but I still enjoy sitting down and putting my whole collection on shuffle every now and then. Listening to some zelda stuff now, actually. What about the rest of you? Quote
danimal cannon Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I listen to game remixes every other day or so. These sometimes consist of OCR remixes. Quote
LuckyXIII Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 A little over a fifth of my entire music collection is from OCR, and of that, I've burned well over 30 mix CD's. Whenever I'm in the car (which isn't as often recently) I'm usually listening to an OCR CD. Whenever I listen to my iPod it's usually from an OCR-dominated playlist. My main draw to the music is that it's (free) high-quality instrumental music - mostly. I've come to enjoy some of the mixes with vocals in the last year, but I really like the instrumental stuff because it's good mood music, thinking music, writing music, etc. Quote
mousemuffins Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Nearly every day, as often as I can. Apart from OCRemix I only have music from friends because I have no money and therefore can't deal with iTunes or Zune or whatever overpriced crap there is now. Quote
OverCoat Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Judging from this, not very much at all. Temp Sound Solutions gets a shit load of my time, though. Also I've been listening to VGM/SPC music a lot lately. ONE OF THESE DAYS I will remix a videogame tune again. One of these days. Quote
Guy In Rubber Suit Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Not a whole lot. I usually turn to it when I'm tired of listening to 'real' music. Quote
SoloGamer Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Almost never. I originally started listening because nostalgia and my only other source for vg music at the time was vgmusic.com. Thanks to OCR and Zophar's Domain, I've discovered the wonders of emulated music and don't really need OCR that much. I still have all the OC mixes I downloaded, though I rarely listen to them anymore. I'll also semi-regularly check the front page for any source tunes I might recognize. Quote
TonyHex Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I listen to remixes just about every day. Quote
The Damned Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 According to Winamp, I have 14556 songs. Of those, 1709 are from OCR (that including projects). So, seeing how OCR makes up 11.7% of my total collection, I should be averaging about ten percent of the time I listen to music at all (since the random on either Winamp or my MP3 player isn't going to always going to play things equally; it's random, after all. I might not hear a single remix at all, or I might get a whole bunch in a row. I'm estimating for fluctuations in playing order). Assuming an average of eight hours a week, that makes my total amount of listening to OCR stuff about 45 minutes a week. Quote
Darth Lime Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I listen when I really want something different. I love how relaxing they are. Quote
Liontamer Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Pretty often. Then again, most of them aren't OC ReMixes until they're posted, so I'll change my answer to almost never. Quote
Tex Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I used to listen to OCR songs a lot in the past few years or so. Nowadays I often listen to music from this community, but not all related to ocr (e.g Shael Riley most recent album, Shnabubula chiptune stuff, Dragon Army inc., VGMix tracks and so on). Sometimes I listen the ost of games too, especially from Sega Genesis. Still listen to ocr, but there will be always other places with tons of cool music as well. Quote
Fishy Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Not as much as I used to, mostly because they're on my old PC. I listen to most of the stuff as it pops up on the frontpage, and a hell of a lot of wips. However, if I have a great deal of reading or writing to do, I always load up ormgas and chill. Quote
Audity Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 whenever i feel like it, which hasn't been recently. one day, i'll be back to my collection. i have this thing against using playlists, for some reason. Quote
Doulifée Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 may vary over time. i listen music on a weekly basis, so it can be an "ocr" week or not. Last FM show Zircon, Darkesword and Gecko on the top, but except Darke most of Gecko and Zirc track i listen are not ocr remixes. Quote
MisterBiggler Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I'll have a week where all I listen to is OCRemix material, and then will go a month or so without playing OCR stuff at all, so it varies. Usually I'll find myself humming a tune that reminds me of a remix I heard, and that kicks off an OCR binge. Quote
SwordBreaker Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Very often. Just about every day actually. Videogame remixes in general are something that's in my rotation when I sit down on my laptop. That was not the case a couple of years ago. Quote
Zombie Posted February 18, 2008 Author Posted February 18, 2008 nowadays never Aww. 10 characters Quote
Dunnowhathuh Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Daily. OCR songs make up just over a third of my playlist so they pop up very often. Quote
Scufo Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Not very much anymore. I downloaded most of my collection within the first couple months of discovering the site, so by now I'm pretty much sick of them. Every now and then I'll download a new mix if I like the source tune, but that's not nearly often enough for ocremixes to constitute a significant part of my playlist. So rarely. Quote
Synchronicity Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Only every now and then... I just like hearing how people can interpret the same song differently Quote
Palpable Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 Besides judging, pretty infrequently. There's been a small handful of remixes I've become obsessed with though, and those end up getting played a lot. I like a lot of music in general, so remixes have to compete with thousands of other songs. There's only so much listening time in a day! Quote
