Effef Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Just turned it off standby and I can already tell a difference. I think its because the proc is still running during standby, but the fan is not. Therefore, heat builds up. This could have long term implications. Quote
supremespleen Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Oh, wow. Glad to know I can turn it off all the way by doing that. I'm never really comfortable leaving stuff on 24/7. And, as of now, the features you lose by turning it off all the way are really quite inconsequential. Quote
Fire in the Hole Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 So I had my Wii freeze on Call of Duty 3. One of my friends was playing while I wasn't paying attention and all of a sudden it the screen froze and the sound got stuck on a loud, ornery whine. I unplugged it from the wall and it was fine, but still a little disconcerting. In other news, Excite Truck is awesome. Especially with two guys racing and the other two yelling out whenever anyone gets a super star bonus ("SUPER TRUCK SMASH!!!"). After my friends' frustration trying to break CoD3's learning curve in ten minutes, Excite Truck saved the day. Quote
Smoke Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 Is there a way you can bypass the region and download games that are available to Europe or Japan? Nope. However, the PAL Wii allows you to switch countries(Within Europe/Australia) to download games not available in your country. Quote
Predmid Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I haven't had a chance to hook up the Wii to the internets yet, so could someone answer some questions: Are there any updates when it connects? How is the virtual console? What titles are available? Quote
SilverStar Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 If it was a launch unit, there's at least 2 updates.. I think it might be 3, plus the browser if you want it. Quote
Effef Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 I haven't had a chance to hook up the Wii to the internets yet, so could someone answer some questions:Are there any updates when it connects? Yes, though they do not take that long. I think it was for the virtual console, and you can get the browser if you want it. Quote
Zombie Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 The last race in Excite Truck... wow. That was one of the funnest things I have ever played. Now for Super Excite mode. I don't know if I can do it. Some of those races on the Platinum Circuit in regular Exite Mode were pretty challenging already. Do you get anything special if you beat it in Super Excite? Quote
SosusOCR Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 And Australian's have to wait for Excitetruck much like Americans are waiting for Wii Play (Someone really needs to explain why that is to me). Anyway as for the Wii heating up I've pretty much only had my Wii on stand since I got it back in early December and I haven't noticed it or my SD cards heating up at all, and Im slack so I've left my SD card in there for days. Not even sightly warm... Quote
Salad Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 The only heat I've noticed from my Wii while in standby mode was the heat caused by the sun during the early morning hours, before I moved it to a position where it's less likely to recieve sun light directly. Quote
CE Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Gonna go buy Super Castlevania IV and SimCity today :] Quote
TheRedBob Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 Gonna go buy Super Castlevania IV and SimCity today :] I bought F-Zero and Sonic the Hedgehog last night. Quote
KakTheInfected Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I wonder what the chances are of Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon ending up on the VC. Quote
watkinzez Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 This fell into my mailbox today.*Rabbid plushies* I'd get one of those if they weren't so freaking expensive shipping wise. BG&E figurines, however, might change my mind. Quote
Smoke Posted January 7, 2007 Author Posted January 7, 2007 It's actually a single two-sided plush(The tag should say enough) Shipping within Europe was rather reasonable, but I can see how it would be a problem for you since they ship from France. Also, there was a freebie Rabbid noteblock included. Quote
DiLEWSKI311 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 monday better see some stellar VC releases!! Quote
supremespleen Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 monday better see some stellar VC releases!!Yeah, no kidding. Very little of the VC stuff is worth buying, imo.I'd like to see some good N64 games show up. Games like Vigilante 8 2nd Offense. That was bloody classic. Quote
JH Sounds Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Anyone who calls the console "Nintendo Wii" is nutty. Quote
Smoke Posted January 8, 2007 Author Posted January 8, 2007 Anyone who calls the console "Nintendo Wii" is nutty. It's a console named Wii, which is made by Nintendo . Note that the other console threads also have the manufacturer name in them, and a large amount of sites refers to the system as Nintendo Wii rather than Wii. Quote
The Damned Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Maybe he thinks it's called the "Nintendo W-i-i" or the "Nintendo Why". I actually heard someone in a store say "Look, there's one of those Nintendo W-i-is!" Quote
JH Sounds Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Note that the other console threads also have the manufacturer name in them The first post calls it "Nintendo Wii" while the first post in the "Sony PSP" thread just calls it "PSP". Quote
