STAND TOGETHER! Stop SOPA & PIPA!
Laws like SOPA & PIPA put creative, Fair Use sites like OC ReMix in jeopardy.
The concerns of copyright holders, while important, do not justify the theft of domains, punitive action without evidence, or other abuses of power and compromise of due process. STAND TOGETHER against laws that will irreparably damage a free and open internet. If I could +1 Larry's post I would. Amusingly, DaMonz's picture would be enough to cause copyright holders to abuse SOPA/PIPA.
|
DaMonz's picture is pure win.

Wikipedia's black-out page makes it fiendishly easy to find out who your representatives and senators are, and how to contact them. Simply go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special...okup?zip=11111, but replace the zip code with your own, obviously.
http://projects.propublica.org/sopa/ will tell you which representatives and senators support or oppose the bills. |
Wait, why the hell is Ted Deutch and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (2 of the local congress members in the heavily gerrymandered state of Florida) in favor of SOPA? And since Schultz is the current chair of the DNC, she has considerable power on members voting Yea or Nay...
EDIT: Senator Nelson as well? I need to start calling these members STAT! |

It's because they don't know the full details of the bill, nor do they have any idea of the repercussions that would come to pass if the bills are passed.
And no one has told them of this. It's up to us to show this; it's also why the internet is blacked out. Bit of a lesson to show what the sites would do if the internet was censored. |
|
Inspired by the video on the front page, I've made my own.
|
We'll start our own internet, with blackjack and hookers.
In fact, forget the blackjack and the internet. |
Graham Stark's voice bugs the hell out of me in that video. Everyone else sounds like they're right there in the room. His voice sounds like something synthesized from a computer, with no reverb whatsoever.
|
Every anti-SOPA petition thing I end up at is tailor-made for US residnets only. Any notable ones for anyone as far away as Canada?
|
Oh my there is a giant muted speaker icon replacing the headphone controller now. This shit just got serious.
DESTROY ALL THE SOPAPILLAS! I mean SOPA and PIPAs! |

Do you watch The Young Turks? They have pretty good coverage on the politics behind SOPA, which is pretty much non-existant on any major cable news show. www.youtube.com/theyoungturks Also good is RussiaToday and The Alyona Show. www.youtube.com/rt www.youtube.com/thealyonashow |
No soup for Phillipa

http://money.cnn.com/2012/01/20/tech...oned/index.htm http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501465_1...th-pulls-bill/ The internet cast Bahamut. Let's hope Congress doesn't have a Phoenix Down. |
Yay!
Also, I didn't know this until today, but my Senator Marco Rubio, who co-sponsored PIPA, pulled his support from the bill. Poor guy just wanted to search something on Wikipedia. |
Maddox shows us how to stop SOPA and similar groups for real. The title is quite sarcastic. http://thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=pass_sopa
