Yes, but with a MIDI turntable it's not necessary. The VCI-100 didn't turn on its own, and people could scratch fine with it. That's why I'm probably leaning towards the 300, so long as it doesn't turn out to be as expensive as the monome. Seriously, that shit is dope. The lemur moreso, but that's a full 3 grand and the monome goes for about half that.

Correction: When Mac ownership from before 2006 hurts you. If you have a younger machine and don't want to partition it, well, nothing we can do about that.

Ditto. I'll consider all this when I get to it.

Explain further. I was under the impression that most, if not all, of the improvements made were technical, and that the story was only enhanced, not diminished. In preparation for MGS4, I want to play through the entire series thus far (including the GBC and PSP games) and, since MGS is from the realm of bad (by today's standards) 3D, I figured I'd play the updated version (which I haven't played yet). So tell me why I shouldn't.

I wish they'd release the FFIV remake here. Or, better yet, just make this sequel in the same style and release them both here at once.

So I'm making a DJ thread. It came up in the Membership card thread so I figured it's time for a bona fide DJ thread. I knew what a DJ was in concept before then, but it was really during my freshman year when Jon (q-pa) told me he dabbled in it that I started thinking about it. He's invested in vinyl and mixers and all that stuff. Since I'm no professional, there's no damn way I'm doing that. Whatever tactile benefits exist are not worth it for me to hunt down vinyl when more and more digital options become available every day. And I think I've reached the point where I may actually buy something: Look at this thing. Hasn't actually been released yet, but it's close. It's a MIDI turntable controller, so I can access all my tracks from straight off my computer. That's infinitely better than vinyl, and better than CDs too, because this thing is cheaper, not nearly as bulky, and it means you can organize your playlist on the fly. Numark has got a competing one coming out: but I think I like Vestax's better. Numark's is motorized, which to me seems like an unnecessary feature and adds power consumption. Plus, Vestax's VCI 100 looked great, though the 300 was announced before I got too acquainted with the 100 model. But are these digital turntables the last of a dying breed? There are a number of new-wave touch controllers out now, including the lemur and the Granted, they're expensive as all hell and don't advertise scratching as such, but these guys, with their OpenSoundControl, look like they could very well be the future.Thoughts?

K, this exists for the PSX. What's so special about the Saturn version?

Well, for one, this IS "Ask a judge." We've been invited to ask questions... don't tell us we shouldn't. As for the rule you're pointing to, I'd argue that doesn't answer the question as specifically as would be best. It says it must be different enough to illustrate the contributions you have made. Well, we've already said there would be newly composed material. It's just that the original would be sampled. Technically, the newly composed material satisfies the condition you indicated. I definitely think it's not as cut and dry as you're making it out to be.

Can do. But the only potential problem comes if said betters don't realize I'm a n00b and whip me soundly before I have time to blink. That kind of victory doesn't teach me a thing.

So how does one lacking in Brawl skillz get their act up to snuff? Are we like the Saiyans, who emerge from every defeat a bit stronger? I have never owned a Nintendo TV console, so I missed out on the first 2 (though I've played them at friends' and such). Brawl will be my entry point into TEH SERIUS FIGHT0RZ.

Dayam son. (You know this means free tours)

You're going to have more of a problem than that. The DS is region-free, but just about any other system isn't. So you'll need to buy an appropriate system there or use... shall we say... alternative means.

OC ReMix Unveils ReMixer Skills/Collaboration Database!
The Pezman replied to djpretzel's topic in Announcements
If someone has set their status to "Not interested," why would they show up in the database? I know, in your profile, you can select skills and still specify your non-interest, but if the database is for collaboration purposes it seems kind of a waste of space to indicate this group. -
Heh... he looks like a mutant. I can imagine him now, gasping "Kill me."

The worst part of it is that I'm smart enough to have realized that in advance. I'm just really fucking bored right now. -

I just watched all his videos (which I hadn't previously seen) one after another. Not recommended. -
IS Blood on the Asphalt the soundtrack for SF2HD?
The Pezman replied to dsx100's topic in General Discussion
All that's valid, and I'm not "against" people making music for free if that's what they want to do. Hell, I'm here at this site. I would, however, hate to see a trend where companies start to outsource work to their fans. With the threshold for making quality work relatively low (well, much lower than it used to be), a lot of people can jump onto the high-end amateur bandwagon. These companies can take their pick of free quality material, using the excuse "Hey, it's BY the fans" to shield themselves from criticism. Really, how can you lose? Plus, networking in this particular context is not as valuable, as I'm not sure how many people involved in this project are looking to pursue the music industry professionally. -
How do you get more Pikmin?

Monkey's Audio is a better lossless encoder (ie smaller file) than FLAC. I say we look into that.

And another one's gone, another one's gone, another... oh wait, nevermind. ::serious::

Let's remember to keep this in context

I remember during the MAGFet presentation it was mentioned that there weren't any talks of compensation... why not?
