  1. Have you, or someone you know, ever tried to mix guitar or bass tracks (or even virtual versions of them!) and felt way in over your head? Like nothing you do is working and it sounds like garbage? Well fret less, because The Sages have you covered! Join @pixelseph for a live workshop on guitar/bass tone shaping - what it entails AND how to use it in a remix! This 3-4 hour event will consist of general terminology (how stringed instruments like guitar and bass produce sound, what an amplifier is and does, what gain is in the context of amplified instruments) basic differences in instruments (pickups, strings, amp types, speaker types) a practical demonstration of the terminology in action dialing in a similar tone across 3 amp simulators dialing in a clean tone, a crunchy rhythm tone, and a lead tone (guitar) dialing in a clean tone and a kanky tone (bass) working stems into a mix Everything will be demonstrated with free tools (where possible) and some of the more prominent tools in the community. These tools - DI stems, virtual instruments, amp simulators, and impulse responses - will be made available to EVERYONE at the end of the webinar; please see the VOD description for links!

  4. Here's a song very commonly remixed. I used 3 different subgenres to remix this. It's a mix of psytrance/house/drum and bass. Thank you for looking!
  5. Metal version of Bombing mission. All kinds of feedback is allways welcome
  6. Hi everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this post, but this is a bit of an "art" project to me. I've been making a VGM "Fake Book" (it's like a compilation of charts with rhythm notation, chord charts, and two monophonic voices harmonized in a typical jazz arrangement style), and I wanted to share the progress with OCR in case anyone could get some use out of it. I suppose, in some sense, this is my "visual art project" relating to game music. It is a labor of love, so it is incomplete but entries are always being added to it. I'm in the phase of adding the finalized products to the book (many pieces are already transcribed/reharmonized and just lacking final draft) and would love some feedback from the community. I'm not making the whole book available to the public, but I'd like to share some excerpts and see what you think! Table of contents: I've included a .pdf file of "Dark World" from A Link to the Past. You'll notice that my sheets are made into two main sections: "Head" Think of the top line as the main melody, second line as optional harmony/counterpoint. "Vamp" The top line is what most of the accompaniment is providing in the source recordings, but re-voiced/re-harmonized in some instances that I found necessary. I didn't just sit with these pieces and add "7"s to every chord to make it "jazz". The basslines are an attempt to make a 1-1 transference of some bass lines if I find them particularly iconic (it may not be up to me to judge), but may be simplified in some places for "ease of use". The notes are written with an "X" instead of a traditional note-head because I wanted these to indicate rhythm as well, not just pitch. There are chords notated above the top line of the "Vamp". I believe them all to be accurate and have taken some liberties (but nothing too out there) where I heard implied harmony. I was mostly looking out for improvisers and guitarists. The idea was to have the pieces as informative as possible, while also making a clean and comprehensive chart that is easy to sight read. You can take this info and rearrange it for so many mixed groups! I am looking for feedback in the following areas: Ease of Use Accuracy of Melody Harmonic Interpretation Legibility/Comprehension Anyone taking the time to review and critique would have my personal thanks and I'd be happy to provide them more sheets for their time (if interested). Thank you! VGM Fake Book - Dark World.pdf
  7. For now, I call it "High Voltage" You see what I did there? I just wanted everyone to get a listen and maybe let me know what they think of this mix. I worked for almost 14 hours on it. And yes, I still upload on Newgrounds. It's still a thing and still alive.
  8. Any help would be appreciated. I got this video from a Hyperspin frontend and i absolutely love this beat. I'd like to know who made it and if they have any more material. I've tried Shazaam and the other similar services but they have no idea and there also isn't a proper title. I asked the uploader where he got the song and he doesn't recall. Thanks for any help fellow Audiophiles! https://streamable.com/1m3y5
  9. I previously made a remix of this exact melody a while ago, but for some reason at 4am I just had this idea pop into my head. Any constructive criticism would be well appreciated. (I know the mp3 says "final" but that was just the version that I put up on soundcloud).
  10. Yo! I published my first collaboration cover with Arzie Van Dee :)! It's Mega Man 2 - Dr. Wily's Castle Theme. Our cover has quite a lot improvisation and original touch, which bends the original theme into a new direction. All feedback is welcome and appreciated!! =) Here is the cover: Here is the original soundtrack:
  11. Here is a remix I am spending time on, so far the sequence is coming together but I would like to open this up as a collaboration. This remix is the song shortly after the prologue in the Sega CD classic "Snatcher". I would record my bass for this but I am having some gain or pickup issues that I'm hoping to get fixed soon. I can make a shared folder with tracks set for each instrument. I'll post my latest mix and the original tracks below to give an example. Thanks for listening and your criticism is welcome! Here is an acoustic/classical arrangement from dragon quest 7 "days of sadness" and "with sadness in heart" (composed by Koichi SUGIYAMA) For this arrangement, I wanted sthg minimalist in the building and in the instrumentation. I thank @Katamari (guitar), @Chris ~ Amaterasu (violin, viola & cello) and @Arvangath(bass) who have collaborated with me. Enjoy! https://soundcloud.com/bluelighter0085/dragon-quest-7-deeper-in-the-heartmp3
  16. Hi guys! This is my first attempt at remixing/arranging a VGM song - I did this for InsaneInTheRainMusic's challenge, and i just wanted to share this with this wonderful community that has provided me with insight and inspiration (as a lurker) for a long time now. 17. https://soundcloud.com/ninelines/hmrmxpmastepostr/s-1dKkB Been working on this for quite some time now. Using all stock effects and a saturation unit that I purchased. Any feedback on sound quality or production/mixing/mastering would be appreciated. I'll make sure I check out everyone else's music, too. Thanks in advance!
  18. Feedback is most welcome, please- I'm new to the OC ReMix crowd so I'd love to start off strong with my first submission. Thanks! I initially imagined going more orchestral since it's such a melodic, fluid piece. Alas, there have been other remixes of that nature, and my strongest suit is bass/groove/vibe. That seems to be untouched territory on this song, as far as I can find, so I embraced a new direction. It's got an R&B/Electronic vibe that slowly build while scattering in the notable motifs from the original. I reharmonized the chord structure, and took my own liberties on the bass line, made my own samples, etc. This is one of my all time favorite games that I've played through countless times since I was a kid. Track is made with respect and affection. Cheers! ReMix: Source:
