KyleJCrb Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I actually did say "Obi-Juan" in my PM to him. And yes, this song is incredibly epic. Love it! Quote
Kureejii Lea Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Absolutely fantastic, of course! It seems a lot of people find this an intimidating track to take on, but you guys rocked it in more ways than one! Quote
Geneson Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Surprised that this is the site's first remix of Fighting of the Spirit. Congrats on the project release! Quote
neil Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 What a thrilling, epic piece. You make me want to dig up ToP right NOW! I also appreciate the V0 quality VBR MP3. You guys rock! Quote
avaris Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Incredible piano intro! The synth lead goes really well with the lead guitar. Def glad to see the project this one def does not disappoint for the opening song. Quote
MichaelTheCrow Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 This is quite excellent, yet another crisp remix, brilliant sound and awesome leads, both synth and guitar. Piano intro is quite epic, well the whole song is, I'm sure to give the whole remix album a listen. One day I'll become inspired enough to submit my first remix, just keep them rolling . Quote
Platonist Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 wow! epic nice to hear some versatile content from dhsu (don't get me wrong, i LOVE your strictly-piano arrangements!) blending you with sixto resulted in pure pwn! Quote
jintoreedwine Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Awesome remix guys! The build up from the end of the piano solo to about 0:58is nicely done and a great touch . Quote
HitoriJaNai Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Graced with another great track from OC ReMix, and of course the start of amazingness for Summoning of Spirits! To listening to this music for hours on end! Quote
Lucentas Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I'll be frank, while listening to this I wasn't sure if it was something I'd want to listen to again or not, but after listening to it, I'm leaning more towards "yes". It's a little on the loud end as far as my guitar tastes run, but all in all it's very tasteful and I like the parts where it starts sounding like something out of a Megaman game. It did seem to be a bit longer than necessary...but it's a solid piece, good job. Quote
Bahamut Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I'm going to have to say, this is easily my favorite track on the whole project. It has that powerful guitar sound you don't hear often enough around OCR. Good work Dhsu and Sixto on this track! Quote
relyanCe Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Awesome, completely awesome. Good work, Sixto/Dhsu. Quote
Pavos Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 This track has seen many mixers working on it (from housethegrate to paragon and snappleman), but this final incarnation is really top notch quality and easily one of my favorites from the project! Great job Dhsu and Sixto! Quote
Arek the Absolute Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 I remember hearing this as a wip over a year ago Good then. Good now. sixto and dhsu so gud Quote
Dhsu Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Haha, I feel bad getting a co-credit for contributing barely 10% of the remix. Glad ya'll are liking it though! Sixto did a rockawesome job (and in TWO DAYS). Be sure to check out the WIP of my collab with SnappleMan in the bonus tracks, and then make fun of him for being a lazy son of a gun. Quote
Rozovian Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 As amazing as the instrumentation is, I seem to end up focusing on listening to the drums a lot of the time in this. Some nice synth usage here as well, and I think the guitar speaks for itself. I mean, it's Sixto at his... usual, maybe? or best? The piano intro isn't to be overlooked. What would this track be without the piano setting the tone and emotion before the guitar comes in? It'd be awesome, but not quite pwnsome. And pwnsome isn't a word I use lightly. This track is pwnsome. Quote
KyleJCrb Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 As amazing as the instrumentation is, I seem to end up focusing on listening to the drums a lot of the time in this. Some nice synth usage here as well, and I think the guitar speaks for itself. I mean, it's Sixto at his... usual, maybe? or best? Both. The piano intro isn't to be overlooked. What would this track be without the piano setting the tone and emotion before the guitar comes in? It'd be awesome, but not quite pwnsome. And pwnsome isn't a word I use lightly. This track is pwnsome. This track was actually pretty much completely arranged by the time I sent Sixto the piano bit to see if he wanted to use it, so I'd heard it without the piano. You're right, it was awesome, but the intro just made it even better. Quote
Sigma Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 This mix is fantastic - great job! What an amazing way to open up the album. The soloing is so good that I feel like I want to start a band. Quote
PriZm Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Yeah fantastic mix. Magnificent production and guitar tone. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Easily my favorite track on the project. Nice rubato-heavy piano intro that builds just a little and quickly but effectively transitions into guitars. Great production on the lead and rhythm tones, and the drums have a great sound as well. The rhythm playing is the star here, precise and crisp, though i'd prefer to hear more lead guitar tone rather than the synth. The trading of leads is fine to keep things mixed up, but if I had Sixto's lead tone, i'd probably never touch a synth again. Solos were pretty good, nice phrasing, and the usual Sixto chops display. Ending was a little abrupt, but it was thoughtfully completed. Great track, but i'm sure you don't need my recommendation to grab this one. Quote
Sir_Downunder Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Ohhhh, shiny, shiny solos...... This track was one of my faves on the album and as usual, Sixto's mad g-tar skills blew my mind into a puddle of goo. The production of the track overall as tight as hell, and, like i said before, wicked solos. Great work Sixto. Quote
metalsnakejuice Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 This is one of my favorites for disc one in the album. l love that piano at the start and those guitars just really punch you in face which is excellent. Quote
