KyleJCrb
This is pretty awesome. Westboro, an infamous hate group of religious zealots, decided to protest Comic-Con yesterday. Little did they realize just what con attendees are capable of: http://www.comicsalliance.com/2010/07/22/super-heroes-vs-the-westboro-baptist-church/?sms_ss=facebook http://www.bleedingcool.com/2010/07/22/comic-con-vs-westboro-baptist-church/ Apparently Westboro was planning to protest for at least an hour, but the con group scared them away early. EDIT: And I just realized I was in this wrong forum for posting this. Probably.
Ferret
Wasn't it Sun Tzu who said force the enemy to fight on your own battlefield? These WBC guys clearly picked the wrong targets this time.
Sir_Downunder
This is unbelievably several different kinds of awesome...
Level 99
You know how they say it's usually a minority of people that have the loudest voices? Yeah, this time that minority got it's protesting ass handed to them in the form of the best people in the world: Nerds. I am so happy that this happened you have no idea. Rozovian
About time this supposed church got its ass handed to it. Down with this sort of thing.
BardicKnowledge
This is now the best news to come out (pun intended) of SDCC.
EC2151
That Sentry poster is pretty funny. Though this is only an injoke known by me and a few people elsewhere on the internet, It'd be nice that if while they were protesting, someone would start blaring the Wheel Gator song from X2 from a boombox. Now THAT would have been cool.
The Mutericator
GOD HATES SENTRIES and GOD HATES JEDI were the best parts. Totally awesome.

BooDidley7
I think the only that would've made me happier is if the nerds got violent and bludgeoned the churchies with stacks of cardboard and ornamental weapons.
Abadoss
I have to say, my favorite sign was the "Is this thing on?" one. Classic. Yeah, I don't know why the government hasn't branded WBC as a hate group yet. That's all they are anymore.

Gario
I think the only that would've made me happier is if the nerds got violent and bludgeoned the churchies with stacks of cardboard and ornamental weapons. They had police on their side to protect them. Cardboard fantasy weapons < guns. Without the police there I'm sure the group would have been engulfed by the nerd's constant barrage of Fire 3's, Thundara's and Attack commands. Just imagine, if someone 'summoned' Bahamut, and a beat-up Mazda with a Dragon head mounted on the hood and papercraft wings appeared. Also, the police reports would've been hilarious... BardicKnowledge
What this really tells me is that the Westboro group cares less about actually protesting things and more about getting news mentions. When the SDCC counter-protest proved to be far more interesting and entertaining to the media that the WBC, they're suddenly gone.
Charlie's Angel
Someone needs to make a movie about westboro starring Jeremy piven and Pauly Shore.
