  8. Electro-Swing! Electro-Swing! Electro-Swing! That opening...I can't help but see the needle drop on one of those old wind up gramophone record players, it just sounds so much like it's spinning, as matter of fact I feel like I'm spinning while I listen to this track and that guitar is the channeled spirit of Django Reinhardt, everything that is old is emulated perfectly and everything that is new is on point! I enjoyed dropping in on Felxstyle's twitch sessions when he was mixing this and I've been waiting for this one....must...resist....urge to...Charleston....

  10. OC ReMix Presents Super Cartography Bros.! November 30, 2015 Contact: press@ocremix.org FAIRFAX, VA... OverClocked ReMix today released its 55th community arrangement album, Super Cartography Bros.. The album pays tribute to map themes from nine games in Nintendo's Super Mario series, and features 17 electronic tracks with an EDM focus. Accompanying the main "Radio Edit" version of the album are the "Club Edit" version, as well as a non-stop "DJ Mix" version edited by Aaron "Global-Trance" Wu. Super Cartography Bros. is directed by OC ReMixer and submissions judge Mike "Flexstyle" Birch, and is available for free download at http://cartography.ocremix.org. Super Cartography Bros. includes a deep roster of 15 musicians tackling soundtracks ranging from Super Mario Bros. 3 for the original NES all the way to Super Mario 3D World for the Wii U. Super Cartography Bros. was made by fans, for fans, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo; all original compositions are copyright their respective owners. "EDM is a genre near and dear to my heart. Video game music is also near and dear to my heart," remarked director Michael Birch. "I've been wanting to direct a high-production-value album for OCR that combines these two things for quite a long time, so when DarkeSword posted his ideas in the forums, I knew this was going to be the project for me." The album's cover artwork was designed by Maya "rnn" Petersen, who also created the art of For Everlasting Peace: 25 Years of Mega Man, OC ReMix's commercial album in partnership with Capcom. rnn has also been featured in UDON's series of video game tribute art books, including Mega Man Tribute. OC ReMixer and submissions judge Shariq "DarkeSword" Ansari conceptualized the album, loving "the idea of OC ReMix putting out something that was proudly and unapologetically "techno.'" In noting OCR's growing acceptance of longer musical arrangements, Ansari added, "I really wanted to see artists explore and expand smaller source tunes into big, sprawling electronic epics. This album has turned into something that's so unbelievably fun to listen to." About OverClocked ReMix Founded in 1999, OverClocked ReMix is an organization dedicated to the appreciation and promotion of video game music as an art form. Its primary focus is ocremix.org, a website featuring thousands of free fan arrangements, information on game music and composers, resources for aspiring artists, and a thriving community of video game music fans. ### Preview it: http://youtu.be/S7Aeuge5-E0 Download it: http://cartography.ocremix.org Torrent: http://bt.ocremix.org/torrents/Super_Cartography_Bros.torrent Comments/Reviews: http://ocremix.org/community/topic/42255-

  12. I had originally planned on having this track as an audition piece for an Apex album from not too long ago. As I'm a huge fan of fighting games I really wanted to get something on there. However as time went I had less and less faith that it would be accepted and eventually rearranged a significant amount of it to make it what it is now. Planning on paneling this shortly so have at it! Source:

  13. I really like how you took this energic tune and arranged it into a relaxing ambient one. I'm not really a big fan of background nature sounds that are present all the way through an entire track, but since I couldn't stop listening because of how beautiful the instruments and melody were, I guess I could ignore that here. The only moment I had a problem with was the one-minute-long segment where it is almost only the rain samples playing. I just thought it was too long and really wanted to skip that part half-way through to get to the next instrumental one. Again, maybe it's just me, but I'll make it a bit shorter. Otherwise, it's great stuff. A real pleasure to listen to and relax while doing so. Well done!

  14. One of my favorites from last month's DoD. I'm glad this was the first ever entry from Tekken series. You should definitely submit this to OCR if you haven't already!

  16. Ooh, very nice! The combination and feel you have going here is absolutely spot on! The percussion was well done, the wubs were sufficiently wubby, and the orchestral writing was definitely realistic enough. I mean, I’d have liked a bit more realism and perhaps something a bit fancier for the cello, but I’m more than happy to have this in my music library. And hey, the cello thing might just be personal preference. I like cellos. Sue me. I’ll admit, at first listen I wasn’t entirely sure how well the intro worked, but on a second and third run through, I can’t really imagine the song without it. Most impressive!

  17. Really nice mix of orchestral and electronic elements. The arrangement is actually pretty varied, there is a lot going on, which demands the attention of the listener. That tempo change at 1:52 was very well done, i had to listen a few times to be really sure, ha ha. That part from 2:08 - 2:35 was great too, although i noticed a bit a lack of bass in that section, but no big deal. Nice take on one of the less popular sources, with spooky sounds, a detailed soundscape and tight production that makes you want to repeatedly hit the play button.

  18. While we don't have a way of just linking this in IPS yet, you can find remixes with the least amount of reviews by going to the forum and selecting the following options from the sort bar. Once we update the forums to IPS4, we'll be able to implement some custom activity streams where the least reviewed tracks will be available through a handy link.

  20. New review: An interesting and original arrangement, very jazzy (duh). Solid performance as well. A few references to other pieces (I swear I heard a few notes from "Beginning") before it gets quieter. I really like this part -- more intimate, and still jazzy. Nice transition to the final part.

  26. I INSIST! Say what your favorite part was of the mix! Ask technical questions on the exact settings of that wobble bass synth! Listen to something you've never considered giving a chance before, and finding something about the mix you like! The possibilities aren't quite endless, but they are vast!

  27. This is something I've wanted to participate in since I started lurking the forums over the summer, but my classes on top of full-time Army stuff was a little overwhelming. I'll try to keep contributing and maybe do the next PRC.

  28. Until recently, I never really payed much attention to the under comments/reviews when I listen to the mixes or read the write ups, mostly because I feel like I can't offer anything other than a thumbs up or down, but if you insist!

  29. Sorry, I couldn't submit a bonus track. Work has simply been killing me lately. This is my first bit of time to kind of have to myself. I do find it interesting that Big Blue was chosen over Gloomy personally. I voted and found some really nice gems in here. Overall great stuff and best of luck to all the entrants. Even though I didn't submit a track I do offer this which is a cover I did about 5 months ago with some hardware.
