  1. Poor guy spent hours designing that costume for that.
  2. Yeah I meant the samples all the time too The beat is actually pretty cool! EDIT: Not all the samples, that was just a typo...
  3. You said it yourself Regarding your song, all the section from the beggining to 0:12 has the soft trance-ish drums, but they fit well there. You end that section with something that seems to be a build-up, but the drums stay very similar. Maybe the problem is that the guitar is a tad too loud and removes the power from the drums? The combination works much better on the 0:48 section too and the drums are louder and more powerful there. The Youtube song also has stronger drums than the ones from the 0:12 section of your song. I guess my problem with that section is that the guitar is too powerful for the soft-ish drums you're using. I do like the direction you're heading by the way. Use of glitching effects and that stuff is very cool.
  4. Are my ears fooling me or did you detune some instruments (kind of like some old 80s songs)? Sounds odd. The video is awesome though, nice graphics and the cover of the song is good (except the oddly tuned instruments). Too bad a remake will never happen...
  5. Something about the guitar sounds a bit plastic to me... Not sure what it is, but I'd take a second look at whatever EQ you're using. In any case, I'm not sure I "get" what you're aiming for, the guitars and drums don't really blend well imo. Maybe I'm not used to this style of music, but until the 0:48 mark I don't "feel" the song. To me, it seems that some saw-y distorted synth would fit so much better than the guitar... I do like the glitching effects you used, pretty cool stuff!
  6. Pikmin 3 looks so damn good. I'm actually tempted to buy a Wii U for it right now... However, I recently bought Pikmin 2 for Wii so I'll see if I actually like the genre first!
  7. Nothing will ever beat this:
  8. Programming of sustain pedals is a bit strange. Sometimes you cut it too early (0:08) and some other times you don't cut it (0:36), creating a bit of dissonance. There's probably too much reverb, but the fake-ness of the sample bothers me more than that. Piano playing is nice but sometimes the velocities are weird, like some notes are randomly lower than the rest. Arrangement is nice, pretty close to the source but sounds good. I'm not sure why you didn't change the chord at 0:42 though, it sounds odd.
  9. Guitars are definitely the highlight of this mix. Rhytm guitars are a bit too low in some sections, but the playing is very cool. I especially love the section at 1:03. However, the rest of the instruments aren't as good. Strings in particular sound way too fake, especially in the 0:41 section. Piano is a bit better but I don't understand its panning. Drums are better but I don't really "feel" all the rhytms you picked. In particular, the one at 0:20 doesn't blend well with the quick guitar playing. Arrangement is cool. Biggest gripes I have are strings at 0:09 and a ugly dissonance at 2:28. Nice job!
  10. The first synth is a bit too loud. It sounds quite dull too, you can add some reverb/delay to it. The low synth that enters at 0:26 is very unfitting. Everything is super relaxed and it kind of ruins the mood with the distortion. It's also too loud. The lead that enters near 0:53 is a bit low, but I like the sample used. I love the section that begins at 1:22! I'm not entirely convinced by the transition that leads to it though. It'd be cool if you had a violin playing the low lead at 2:00, to mix it up a bit The 2:27 section needs some bass, it sounds a bit empty. Overall it sounds very nice! I love the style that you picked for the remix, it fits the original song. I would mainly fix some volume issues and change some synth samples.
  11. This is cool! A bit repetitive, but still fun I don't play guitar so I can't criticize much but I feel that some of the backing chords you play sound a bit washed out, like if you didn't press the strings hard enough... It's also a bit uneven volume-wise, but overall it's fine!
  12. I think SSB has crappy graphics because they wanted the game to run at 60FPS, so they used models with a low number of polygons. Mario, for example, looks a lot better in Mario 64 than he does in SSB. Despite that, SSB was amazing. I remember having hours of fun with that game, even if some characters were kind of broken (damn you Kirby!). Regarding Melee, I think people look more at it because it has a lot of technical stuff that makes it a more interesting fighting game. Also, GCN controler >>>>> N64 controller for fighting games.
  13. Because Resident Evil is a Nintendo franchise? Not sure what's your point.
  14. I don't understand then, at least Pikmin 3 seems very polished.
  15. Interest surely faded towards the end of this! I wonder who won... Blue Blur or Blue Bomber?
  16. Nintendo's "cute" graphics tend to fool people into believing that their games don't have many production values. Today games are either brown open world AAA games or low budget ones to people.
  17. The ZombiU case is a shame because I remember Nintendo highlighted that game a lot during conferences and crap (didn't it also get a bundle?). I guess the genre, platform and reviews didn't help it :/
  18. This track is amazing. Really pretty... Adding Figaro Castle's theme was a great decision, it added such emotion to the track. One of my favorites of the album!
  19. Luckily for you, therex chose Toxic Caves for a competition recently, so if you check the Competitions subforum and go to the Blue Bomber Blue Blur Collision Competition you'll find lots of mixes using Toxic Caves!
  20. When did Crystal Room get claimed? I was hoping to grab that someday Anyway, looking forward to what comes out of this, especially Jordanius' new take on the victory theme
  21. I finally finished the album! Some comments of other songs: "Flava de Chocobo" has to be the best Chocobo rendition ever. It's like what would happen if Jamiroquai covered the Chocobo theme. "Gestahlian Sonata" is a pretty piano piece. It lacks some of the evilness from the source (even if it has some evil moments), but it's a nice change of pace from the rest of the album. I was surprised by the lack of Brandon in this album (especially after Random Encounter) and I totally didn't see "Mogstradamus" coming. Quite an unique blend of styles and sounds here, nicely done! "Evisceration" is brutal! Almost painful to listen to (in a good way, I just didn't know how to word my feelings ). "Blackjack's Breakup Bossa" is neat. Unexpected style and nice instruments! "A Glimmer of Hope" is beautiful, just like the source theme. One of my favourites. "The Endless Stair" has a Metroid-ish feel. Nice remix of a source I never cared about. "Demon, Fiend & Goddess" is very cool. I can understand some people not enjoying the direction that much, but I think it's an amazing song. Organ here is a VST? "Ending Suite" is pretty. I don't really remember the actual ending theme, but the progression between the main themes is very natural. Loved the album! Hope I ever get to participate in one
  22. Omen is amazing. I haven't finished listening to it yet but I have to say it's really impressive, almost an album on its own!
  23. This is amazing! I'll post some thoughts about a few tracks: "Now is the Winter" has a nice atmosphere. The arrangement is a bit too long imo but I like the mood it creates. "Polemos" grabbed me by surprise. It "disappoints" me a bit that it's not a "pure" remix of the battle theme, but I can't complain! 10 minutes of metal goodness! "La Montaña de los Caballos Jóvenes" is pretty good and I believe it hasn't got much recognition. Well done Novice! "river of sine waves" is nice. I wonder why everything wasn't capitalized in the title "There Will be Blood" really surprised me. Metamorphosis is a hard track to remix but the dubstep nailed it perfectly. All the Opera related tracks are amazing. "Full Speed Ahead" feels like a Mario Galaxy/Mario Kart track in some sections. I guess the synths do that! I haven't heard anything past the opera themes yet so I can't comment on that, but I will post more later!
  24. I think that the only console I was really hyped for in my life was the N64. But that was probably because I was very young and the jump from 2D to 3D simply blew my mind. Now I only get hyped when Smash Bros. appears. I only bought a Gamecube and a Wii because of that. I have to admit that some of the Wii U games coming soon are hyping me a bit (same with the 3DS, but I've never bought a portable). PS4 also seems fine but I don't want to risk buying it too son, faulty consoles and all.
  25. But.. The Yellow Devil ;_;
