  1. https://youtu.be/8aodQM1D2rc One saturday evening my three kids and wife sat down and watched a movie (we do not often succeed on doing this) and the kids wanted to watch Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation (they wanted it because it is named Monster Vacation here in Sweden). The inspiration came from the song that was played during Dracula's dance scene - "I See Love" by Jonas Blue. I liked the idea of combining my retro synth style with a more modern style, I think this is the first time I consciously do that. This also resulted in a more or less complete makeover of the Flying Battery theme, I hope you all appreciate what became of it As I wrote in my teaser post for this, the vibes coming from this kind of resembles or reminds me of the end of summer vacation and that life goes back to work and labor. With that in mind I hope you all have the courage to pursue your dreams and never give up getting to that work position you want. Start small, take a small step outside you comfort zone, take a step back, and then again a bigger step outside just to feel that change for something better. And remember - you DESERVE it. Now, GO AND GET IT!
  2. https://youtu.be/7D_VAET_Hnc During the making of any remix/cover I do, I mainly want the listeners to recognize the song and hopefully start to get some memories from the past. The same goes with this one. Hydrocity Zone is such a cool song (both act 1 and 2), I really love the funky grooves, which I also tried to keep through about a minute of my remix. So you will most likely recognize it a bit before I go loose on creativity and extension of the original melodies. There will be some solos and then some ambient part resulting in a half tempo ending. I just write the music as I hear it in my head and keep going with the flow. This is what came to mind this last week. The intro SFX is intended to sound like Sonic starting to roll to gain that ridiculous speed. I searched through the SFX list from Sonic 3 and believed this is the correct sound of that. Until today I was thinking a lot of putting some harmonizing melodies to the original ones, but I went for "less is more" this time and just kept one at a time lead synth to play all melodies.
  3. I did go a bit away from the original composition ? Dropping a big Ninja Gaiden medley soon
  4. My piano remix cover of the ecco: the tides of time title theme. I recorded the different voices all with the piano and combined them later, so it has a similar feeling to the original version. I only played the first few minutes of this game but I played through the first one and was very impressed by it’s dark and mysterious tone, even after so many years. But man, I guess it’s the hardest game ever made, even with cheats I barely got through it - but it was worth it!
  5. Thanks to the talent of @TeraCMusic, @VelkkuEvilBastard, @pixelchips and @Dextastic, here is a remix from "Castlevania: Symphony of the Night" to celebrate the holiday season ! A huge thank you to everyone involved in this project -- you guys are the best ! HAPPY HALLOWEEN !!
  6. I did my take on Superman's stage 5 music. Developed by Hudson Soft, composed by Kenji Yamazaki. I’ve been using synths for years but this was my first attempt at recreating video game music. It was a lot of fun. DAW: Ableton Live Hardware: Virus TI Polar, Roland JP-8000 VST's: TAL-Chorus-LX, iZotope Ozone, Blue Cat (stereo field & freq analysis VSTs), FabFilter Pro-Q2, Pro-C2, Pro-L2 Original track:
  7. Simple EDMish/electronic? arrangement of Sky Sanctuary Zone I made! Trying to learn to mix better. Hope you enjoy!
  8. Hi everyone, Very new to music production and no musical background etc just fancied a dabble in fl studio, I am very passionate about early Sega games and 16 bit games in general. As one of my favorite games Streets of rage was always the epitome of beat-em-ups for me, additionally i grew up in the 80's when synth sound tracks such as crockets theme or Axel F were popular so i wanted to smash the two together. Please be kind, this is a work in progress and just ideas at present. Streets Of Rage - Moon beach Waves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPYrDPn4UK4 Regards Gav Aka Genesis1983
  9. Hi, So I've decided to finally have a proper go at the remixing and VGM thing, after some prompting from fellow band members and friends. I've done a remix of "NiGHTS and Reala", which I'd love some objective feedback on from people who don't know me. Apologies if this isn't the place for it, but it seemed the most appropriate thread as I'm reaching out to the community. I'm aware it's very similar to the source material, but that's because a) there's no comparison to the source material, and b) I just wanted to jam along with what I knew, to get started. Otherwise, all and any criticism is welcome - thanks very much! Filidecht
  10. This was done about a week ago. I learned to play it on Piano early this week and decided to do another remix of it. I think this one turned out very nicely. A remix of Ray/Zena-Lan Hard Armor theme from Cyber Brawl. Femme Jazz Armour CG - Cupcom5 Here's the video of the original
  11. Hello, I've been working on a tool (MidiModder on my Github) to modify Midi files. A while back, I used a tool to rip the level music from NiGHTS into Dreams. The game has music that changes dynamically with the mood of the level, so the song was split up into multiple midis. I've combined the files back together, being careful to preserve data in it. This will be the full level music, like this: The game had a soundtrack release, with higher quality instruments, although sadly these would only include 1/4th of the song: The midi files I can provide are ripped from the game, but the instruments, octaves and drums may need to be adjusted. If anyone is up to it, I think it would be awesome to have remastered versions of these songs. Here is the Suburban Museum midi for starters. I will have to convert the other level themes, but I would be able to provide those too if the interest is here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/epgdoo2t6yp5yqk/SuburbanMuseum.mid?dl=0
  12. Some original music for you SEGA fans. You're going to enjoy this!
  13. This remix came to me out of nowhere ! I kinda like it, but I don't know if I shouldn't try to transpose the piece in another style... Original: Remix: What do you guys think ?
  14. I don't see too many remixes or covers for the Virtua Fighter series. Maybe I'm the only one that thinks the music is awesome haha. I spent a lot of time burning through quarters with this one at the arcades and on the Saturn. Anyways, any critiques or comments are always appreciated. Peace
  15. Though it was meant to be sung by the fairy in the Playstation game, I always picture Sonia singing this lullaby to young Trevor at the end of" Legends" ! I also thought arranging the piece in the same style as A2's "Chosen One" might be a good idea -- tell me if it is Original: Remix (Instrumental): Feedback is welcome !
  16. Hi Everyone - this is our recent piece - a remix of themes from Elemental Master - a 1993 (NA) Genesis game. Would love to hear some feedback. Hope you enjoy it. https://megalixir1.bandcamp.com/track/brother
  17. What's up people. This is my take on a great theme from a great game. I'm hoping somebody else's ears can help me specifically with the mixing, mastering, and audio quality. Please let me know what you think. Any critique and feedback is greatly appreciated. I'm not submitting this here but I did it to learn the style of my favorite composers. Peace Source Remix
  18. I would like to request a J-Pop/Electro Techno ReMix of "New Moon" aka Amazing Arena (Lights On) from Sega's Knuckles' Chaotix on the Sega 32X. If someone is willing to accept this request, that would be really swell.
  19. As one of my favorite video game composers, I had to remix a Naoki Kodaka ("Blaster Master"/"Batman"/"Raf World") piece at some point. Here's something I'm currently working on, inspired by one of many beautiful tracks taken from Sunsoft's SEGA Saturn RPG -- "Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean": It's still drafty, but feel free to share feedback and advice while friends and I work on arrangements and lyrics writing EDIT: Lyrics (ver. 1.0) are now available in the SoundCloud description of the track.
  20. Hey OC Remix community! I am still improving my production and composition skills with the little time that I dedicate to writing and producing. I am hoping that get some input that will help this remix be appropriate for submission! As a caveat, I do plan on recording a few classical instrument performances (I play the clarinet) and I will humanize the piece a lot when I near completion of the piece. I also have not "master mixed" the piece. However, I think that this piece is coming along nicely. I intended for this piece to mix classical with electronic elements (there are two synths). Phantasy Star IV's music does this well so I wanted to also incorporate that into this remix. I also am mashing two pieces of music into one remix because the first song I chose was a bit thin on length (content). The two pieces have a similar vibe and they are Requiem for Lutz and The Age of Fables. I would consider this approximately 55% done but that's a rough estimate. I don't know how much more can be done exactly but there are a number of ideas floating around in my head (got a head ache). Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Download of the remix in progress: http://www.tonalbliss.com/music/displays/truthbetold_4.mp3 The two original tunes I'm basing my mix on on YouTube: https://youtu.be/uH-4DZWv5fI?list=PLirSddeMOYZ5E_9xpoTRYi3ksQmlFPdFL and https://youtu.be/afEQQhQajLE?list=PLirSddeMOYZ5E_9xpoTRYi3ksQmlFPdFL
  21. This is one of my favorite pieces in Sonic 3D Blast. I would like to see the Sega Saturn version of Spring Stadium Zone Act 2 be remixed into a circusy-like 1980's-1990's TV Cartoon Theme Song just like the Animaniacs (One of my favorite 90's cartoons), but with funny sound effects like slide whistles, honking clown horns, bouncing springs, and other hilarious slapstick cartoon sound effects from the 1980's-1990's. Please make it happen. (80's-90's cartoon theme song is the style & genre for this remix request) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf6egH4c3_U
