  1. While OCR's Content Policy is quite permissive with regards to ReMix usage in streams and videos, we've seen reports of videos getting hit with Content ID matches on YouTube against tracks from our catalog. Some matches are bogus (stolen tracks, false positives, etc.), some are legitimate (tracks that are a part of a commercial release, audio matched to a source tune, or legitimately claimed by the ReMixer). Here's a list of ReMixes we know have had issues in the past. If you're a streamer or video creator, avoid these tracks. It should be noted that this list is not comprehensive, only because -- as we post new ReMixes -- other tracks may get added. We also don't have any list available for Twitch, though we haven't heard of issues there. It's possible that there are other tracks that will get your video flagged, and we periodically update this list. Unfortunately there's not a lot we can do about it, except recommend that when you contest your ContentID match with YouTube, link OCR's Content Policy. We've heard reports of people using that to get the hit removed. We also recommend using Rainwave's song widget for Twitch for their OCR radio station. When new songs trigger YouTube's ContentID, Rainwave staff will get in touch with us and vice-versa in order to keep this list updated. 2. Hey guys, this is a really cool project idea. I'd like to offer my services as a performer to anyone needing some live instrumental recordings. I have a high quality audio rig and have mic techniques and basic eq/mastering knowledge to get a good .wav of anything that needs to be sent to remixers. I've got too many projects going on to offer a dedicated remix of any of the tracks myself or oversee the arrangement, but I'd be happy to track/record anything that I can offer!

  3. Hope this is okay to post about here, I apologize if I'm overstepping. Last week I came on stream almost every night and had fun messing around, jamming various vgm tunes as well as free form improvisations using different layering techniques and other stuff, it was so much fun that, seperate from the more formal "performance" streams I've done, I'd like to make this a regular thing, so to start, I'm gonna be trying at the very least for this week, but if it goes well, we can continue this indefinitely, an hour long jam stream, every night at 7PM EST @ http://www.hitbox.tv/shnabubula I know there are rules about posting videos in gendisc, so I do this with caution, I just want to show an example or two of the kinds of thing you can expect on the streams however, I'd be okay if these videos are MOD-edited out of this post, so long as the stream link itself can remain. Those are examples of some vgm synthesizer jams, and here's an example of some alternate kind of just fun improvising, this was actually done live, on the stream I recorded both layers, in this video I just merged them together visually, so on stream those viewing saw it put together in two stages but it sounded just like this, only without the ghost shnabubula [mario kart time trial reference] i apologize again if it's not okay to post this here. Having been a long time community member and contributor I hoped it wouldn't be overstepping bounds, but if it is I completely understand. I'm just excited about this project and what to give as many people an opportunity to come in and hang out/be a part of it as possible. Already a lot of community members have stopped by to show their support, and it means a tremendous amount to me when I see an old familiar OCR username show up in the chat.

  5. Cute. It kind makes me think of a Chocobo walking around in Mr. Roger's Neighborhood or down the street on the Andy Griffith Show (I can just see Barney staring at it as it goes by LOL). I, for one, would like to hear where you take this. I've heard this theme done to a lot of styles, but I don't think 'Irish Folk/Jazz' would be among them.

  6. This might also refer to the fact that the synths sound 'mechanical' or too heavily sequenced. @Smooth4lyfe1987, please set the record straight if we're leading JK astray. I'd like to say that I like this much better than what I heard before. I agree with S4L that it feels understated in the beginning (I'd add the bass AND do some fill-work with a synth). I would argue that the whole piece is missing something ... decidedly midrange. Something like that fill that starts at 1:29; great bit, but there are very few places in the piece with that texture. This piece runs the risk of being too repetitive, IMO (that might be my lack of trap-beat experience talking again), but I think some extra fill work here and there would help take the edge of the repetition. Do you plan on rapping or adding some sort of vocals over top of this?

  7. Yeah, one or two instruments, anyway. I've put you down as performer/collaborator for all the instruments you have listed on your profile - including vocals. You can always refer any requests to someone else if you don't have time or feel capable. I've also put you down for audio support. Let me know if you want me to change anything. I've also put @classic_gamer_76 down as a performer/collaborator for synthesizer, since he's now involved in three different collaborations. It's been great working with him on Corneria so far!

  8. No prob, thanks for putting it out there! I am offering performance on any of the instruments I have listed on my profile in addition to vocals, if needed! I'm not a classically trained vocalist so I wouldn't go as far as to say that is my offer to the project primarily, but can do it in a chamber/choral setting if needed. I can assist on audio support as well, but my equipment is quite modest compared to most people and I'd be best suited at recording myself and getting those tracks sounding good. I'm a multi instrumentalist by trade and can cover a lot of territory.

  9. Haha, this is pretty clever. Really fun way to manipulate the source on this one - splicing and rearranging. Neat how the tonality of that source is so darn ambiguous, and yet you seem to make some sense out of it. Your music is your music, and I'll look forward to the finished product. I will, however, add one little known detail on this (more just a general reminder than anything, for those that don't know): While a clever idea, prior precedent has established system music (like Gamecube's opening, Wii's homepage music, PS1 opening chime, etc.) doesn't count as a videogame soundtrack for OCR's purposes, so if (and only if) you plan on ever submitting, don't be too disappointed if it gets straight rejected on those grounds. For the sake of the WIP boards, though, I'll make the judgment call and say it's alright in here... primarily because I want to see where you take this, 'cause it's pretty cool. Nice work so far.

  10. I'm a huge fan of euphonium! Had a buddy in college that was great at it and he was the first to show me the Bob-omb Battlefield cover that got some attention back in '07/'08. Love it

  11. Dude this is rad. I have a buddy that would LOVE this. I'll be sure to share it with him. He looks for jams to hype his melee game.

  12. Just gonna remind that it's already 11/7! That's right, this is the very final deadline! We've already got a bunch of finished stuff and we hope to get more of your awesome music, guys! Don't let us down!!!!

  14. I listen to trap music, and I like where your going with this BUT I would revamp the intro to make it more "in your face"....add a bass to the intro maybe. I would also change the synths to sound less "midi-ish" I love your arrangement of this track, I'd just use more "powerful" instruments and emphasize more on bass

  15. i'm in! a reminder - make your 'list' of stuff unique and fun! it's cool to just get whatever you say you want, but it's more cool to say a bunch of weird stuff and then get something really interesting or fun or unique or creative. i gave flexstyle a vinyl album, some artisan hot chocolate, and cans of a hard-to-find soda last year. not much gaming but still a fun thing to do. i'd never have done that if he hadn't had crazy stuff on his wishlist =)

  16. It bothers me that a music maker with your level of knowledge in this line of work seems to have ignored the part where not everyone is even physically capable of singing, much less has the proper talent for it. Things like autotune exist to help people in that capacity and unless you quit doing music via software and are using hardware only, don't argue it back. Something more helpful - MIDI is a universal electronic language that lets you automate music, effects, knobs, etc. between software, hardware, and much more. It's a bigger subject than I could really delve into here, but a good, specific starting point for you is that NO, you do not need a MIDI keyboard. Your audio software should be very equipped to let you program MIDI language, so you just need to learn how your software let you go in to edit MIDI data, learn how your autotune software is set up to accept MIDI data (they're all different in my experience, you just need to refer to the manual) and get to practicing on it. An example: In FL Studio I have a plugin called "MIDI OUT" that goes into the same list as the instruments I have loaded up. In another instrument, I have to go to a window, have it assign a MIDI channel, go to MIDI OUT and set it for that same channel and now I can control things for that instrument. There are virtual knobs on MIDI OUT and I can assign them (via a universal code set called CC numbers) volume, panning, vibrato and a lot of other things. I program the MIDI language by drawing shapes in a specifically assigned window in FL Studio, like having a song fade in or fade out. If I have described that simply enough, you have a starting point for how MIDI works in a capacity that is relevant to you. MIDI is kind of a pain in the ass, but if I can learn how to do it, you can. It just takes some practice and memorizing where to assign things. Consult your manual, look up some tutorials on Youtube and practice it. You'll get it.

  19. Hey, I know it's REALLY late, but my Coral Caves (from Sonic Rush Adventure) remix has been in the almost finished zone for months, and it's just mixing related polish left. I'll be able to finish it up and submit, but I'm not extremely proud of it as it's not reflective of my current standards, as it's rather outdated. So here's a call out to anyone who might be willing to collaborate and help improve/redux the track! Right now, it's in an oldschool trance kinda style. If interested, do tell me as soon as possible.
