  1. Thanks for the tips. I'm still curious about how to apply this to a piece but I guess I'll experiment. More tips would be appreciated. I just released an original piece that I wanted to be villainous. Here it is. https://soundcloud.com/dark-ronald-poe/enigma-demo1
  2. I was curious how one can take a melody/theme villainous/darker/evil sounding. I love the idea of dark reprises and was curious how to go about this. I write electronic music and remix in a similar style (i'm quite eccentric). I have a few themes I want to do this with and would like pointers. I know things like occasional tritones, minor keys, diminished chords, and accidentals are important but what else>? One of the pieces I want to do a villainous remix of (not having much luck due to the upbeat and repetitive nature of the piece). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW9WHjictHc
  3. I think it's got a creepy atmosphere and it incorporates the pieces really well. I like it and think it's great for Halloween. Really hope it gets on the main page. If you need a remix title try "Mt. Sinjoh" ...
  4. I've been working on attempts at Psytrance and find the style interesting. That said I think PsyNES knocked this out of the park. It's got great energy and lots of swag. I really like it.
  5. This is an actual remix and I'm sharing it. It's a Final Fantasy themed mixture that took many creative liberties but I think the result is cool. Tell me what you guys think and what I can improve on. It's done in my signature style and I'm ready for criticism. Read the description in the link and Enjoy. Three sources. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVxUE_6z984 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQwQnEfbh0U
  6. Gorgeous epic orchestral piece with plenty of emotion to spare. It's a bit long but like a great orchestral suite, it's something that must be listened to as a whole. Also I kinda picture the clanging drums as a colossus' steps and it thrashing around. Overall good job.
  7. I'm a very eccentric electronic musician and have been kicked out of 2 seperate projects but I think I'll do something for this album. I'll do "Sherbert Island" and remix it into something odd. Hope you guys let me try something. Here's an example of my style. https://soundcloud.com/dark-ronald-poe/going-insano-demo1
  8. I think this was too long but never boring. This was amazing and so was the effort put into it. Good job and hope to see more from you.
  9. Hi, they call me Ronald Poe and I hope you guys are having a great day. Here are two original trance pieces I wrote recently. Tell me what you guys think and how I can improve them. They're both character tributes meant to evoke their respective character. I'm probably not good enough to pull either theme off but here goes. First is a fan-made Palace/character theme for Makoto Niijima (Persona 5). I went for a somewhat elegant yet rebellious trance piece. I know she's a popular character so there's a bit of pressure. It's done in my signature style. https://soundcloud.com/dark-ronald-poe/honor-student-demo1 Second is a Dark Psytrance (or at least my interpretation of it) tribute to Venom (the Spiderman villain). This is my first attempt at Dark Psytrance and I felt the style might fit Venom well. It's a little more melodic than most Dark Psytrance but who cares about that. I personally think Venom would make a great bonus boss for Kingdom Hearts 3 but ...
  10. I know I'm going to lose but at least I got some constructive criticism. I'm not going to give up remixing but rather step up my game. How can I make my soundscapes better/less thin? Also I'm aware my signature Trance style isn't for everyone but I'm going to improve, not change myself completely.
  11. I've been having trouble with my grandma and won't be on this computer Monday. I put my theme in the lead and "Fireman" (Megaman 1) in the pizzicato string. I put it on my Soundcloud just for transfer. I'll just P.M. it to DarkeSword early (hope you don't mind and read the description).
  12. I personally would be interested in "Roar of the Wyrm" and "Apologies" (I'm planing on mixing them). I was thinking about a Dubstep meets me sorta style for the mix. Here's an example of my style. Please give me a chance.
  13. I've been in the last 2 albums so why not add me in. I already have an idea and possible direction. Have a nice day.
  14. I hope I get to participate. DarkeSword, please message me when the contest begins. This will be fun ...
  15. I did great once in an RPG contest so I think I'll enter (I'm rather eccentric though). My choices would be these 2 classics; 1. Cutman (Megaman 1) 2. Gutsman (Megaman 1) Please tell me when this starts and have a good day.
  16. Sounds like something A Perfect Circle would do and is rather impressive. Good job overall.
  17. I've already chosen the "Elevator Music" from that game and would like to participate.
  18. I think you did a good job at Goa. Do you have any tips for making Psytrance (I've been attempting that lately but haven't gotten it to sound right).
  19. This is an attempted Trance remix of "Brinstar" (Metroid) for a contest. I tried to give the original an update my way (I have a rather unique style). After the contest I redid it and think it turned out good. Tell me what you guys think. Enjoy Track Here's a couple original pieces of mine
  20. Happy Easter Fools (Easter + April Fools Day) OCRemix, I entered as well. Probably not going to win and just did this for fun (feedback would be nice). However if I do win, I pick a mixture of "One Winged Angel" and "Birth of a God" or alternatively something from the Kingdom Hearts series (Maybe "Traverse Town"). Those would be my picks if I ever win but here's to always hoping and doing my best. Good luck and have a good day. Also does anyone else get Pokemon Red vibes from this theme (I know it predates Pokemon) ...
  21. I love Kingdom Hearts series more than anything and it's soundtrack is amazing. I think this remix did the original "Simple and Clean" justice while doing its own thing. The mixture of chiptunes and screamo/metal is lovely. Good job overall and I hope more KH remixes will come in the future ..
  22. This looks like a cool source and the piece itself is great. I think I'll participate in this round. Since someone said Dio, ... Za Warudo!
  23. I'm on the 3rd track and am loving that macabre groove. Good job.
  24. I'm not really surprised I got last place (I'm quite used to it by now) but there's one thing I don't get. Why do people say my tracks are drenched in reverb when I didn't use any reverb at all and rarely do? I might make a thread on EQ tips soon though ...
