Dafydd Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 This kind of stuff wouldn't be accepted here anymore. Which is kind of sad. But there's OLR nowadays. A lot of people here speak of this mix as the best on the site (though admittedly in a not too serious fashion), though, so it's kinda weird how similar songs are no longer good enough for it. Meh. Nevermind me. Quote
linkspast Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 A song of legendary status.... Oh and What is that smell? Quote
Trenthian Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I can't believe the influx of nublets coming to the site and hating on this track. Anyone who cant see the brilliance in this track and then feels its nessecary to talk trash needs to be made sterile. Get a life detractors. Quote
metaphist Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I was surprised to find this didn't get locked down. I guess it's too classic! Quote
Liontamer Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I was surprised to find this didn't get locked down. I guess it's too classic! Nothing wrong with the arrangement for its time. It was certainly interpretive! Quote
big giant circles Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 For it's time? This mix has revolutionized video game reinterpretation for decades to come! Possibly even centuries! If anything, we should lock down all the other garbage on this site because really, comparatively speaking, all the rest is crap. (Except the Recapitated songs, which were 'aight.) For the record, I want Shael to have my babies. Thousands of them. <3 Quote
Haplo of the Nexus Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 I'm sorry, but I just don't get the point. This is like something my brothers and I would come up with on a tedious road trip inspiring ridiculous persiflage. I don't understand why this remix is still available for download on OCR, as it appears an outlier in terms of quality on the lower end of the spectrum, and unsuitable for a site that has been rapidly growing in prestige over the years. I hope that this, and other extremely distasteful remixes, will be removed shortly in favor of maintaining a more distinguished and credible atmosphere. Let such remixers post on the sites that support and cherish such assorted detritus, such as OverLooked ReMiX. Quote
SoulinEther Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Well, they have in the past initiated lockdowns, going through all the remixes to find what was low quality / midi sequences + drums or the like, I seem to recall. Who knows. But... I think that the old remixes serve as a nice marker to show how far this site has come in regards to sonic and arrangement quality. Quote

SLyGeN Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I'm not hating, but just trying to make sense of what's going on. Basically, this track made it through the OcRemoval purges because it's lol? It's also weird that this track is here because of classic nonsense but unmod is gone because of classic nonsense. Again, not hating, but double-standards make me go :\ Quote

It's also weird that this track is here because of classic nonsense but unmod is gone because of classic nonsense. Again, not hating, but double-standards make me go :\ There is no double standard and it didn't survive lockdown because it's fun nonsense. It's here because, for its time, it was a creative enough, interpretive enough arrangement compared to the original NES theme. Lockdown was about removing submissions violations, not applying a current standards bar to older ReMixes. It was never even at risk for Lockdown, and neither were a lot of older, less developed ReMixes from the old days. This isn't going anywhere. Quote
Polo Posted July 6, 2009 Posted July 6, 2009 Love the trippy opening notes - it's like they're playing the theme half-drunk and half-asleep. The bouncy, cheese-flavored strums match the singing in exuberance and melodic zest. Lyrics are clear on the first listen, although the backup at 0:22 sounds like "the sound of my groooaaan" (but it's still fun like the background noises). While smell, sight, and sound are covered, it seems comparisons in taste and touch are better left to the imagination. Repeating the last syllable at the end proudly drives the groin home. Quote
mew2king Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Clear but hilarious lyrics. djpretzel, he mentions the word groin 7 times. The chords are cool, intros funny. Forget about putting thumbs up, i rate this groins up. Quote
Twytch Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 To all the haters of this song: I remember when I was a wee lad of about 13 I loved to play Zelda:LTTP on my SNES, and for some reason or another... ...I don't know if it was the pink hair or the constipated look on his face when trying to lift ANYTHING (vases even)... I always felt that link reminded me of a walking, talking (or grunting) penis. In that respect, I feel that Link should indeed remind us all of the mighty groin. Amen. Quote
OceansAndrew Posted December 7, 2009 Posted December 7, 2009 crazy track- it makes me glad that OCR can do some funny tracks in addition to the SUPER SERIOUS PENDULUM INSPIRED PROG METAL. I don't think we'll be hearing a track this creative again for a long time. Quote
Emunator Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 Heh, it's things like this that make me glad for OCR00001-OCR01000 Quality, arrangement, and everything else goes by the wayside and ends up being completely irrelevant when the song is just so damn funny. I don't know how to properly review something like this, but rest assured the value of the song was not lost on me Quote
Holy Land Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) What can I say? So bad it's badass. The background singing at 0:24 in particular, cracks me up every time. But, really, for a throwaway song it sounds quite fun and memorable. And it's a classic. Edited November 6, 2010 by Holy Land Quote
docnano Posted March 30, 2011 Posted March 30, 2011 (edited) I'm ashamed to admit this, but this is one of my favorite early OCR mixes. Chipmunk overdub at 0:24 == WIN Edited March 30, 2011 by docnano Quote
Dyne Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 After nearly 11 years, this song is still among my favorites. In fact, I can't believe it's been 11 years. I'm glad Shael is still around writing music and performing. Quote
PJL80 Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Came across this in the new torrent.....why god, why? It's like listening to a kid who just learned a new word and thinks it's hilarious. Deleted. Quote
