From what I've heard on this site, this piece is one of the closest to being of professional quality. Although, I've heard that scratch sample in a lot of different place, but it doesn't detract from the song, so it's okay. I am very fond of the texture that you've created on this piece. I, too, have had it on repeat for a long time (everytime I listen to it in fact), and it also forced me to check out Arkimedes' website for his other music. Way to go, great song. Cheeszeman_ Posted October 1, 2004 Share Posted October 1, 2004 i first got this song on VG music... one of the 'lesser posts' but now that its on OCremix, i guess ill say wat i wanted to say a while back... i heard that Arkimedes himself does the vocals... dunno but if he does, WOW i find this song very soothing, something to listen to when your down or sad, or even goin ta bed... (dont ask... plz...) yeah oh, this is a very simple song, but as i've said before: simple is good. and it is. when you really break it theres really drums, vocals and synth, melody and background... its pretty cool how Arkimedes synthed his voice like that.... thats fun and when he sings: 'No worry's, no fears, no nightmares, no tears' it goes from one speaker/headphone to the other, its really cool... and the Vocals are quite inspirational! I downloaded it a while ago, but forgot to listen to it, but when it came up on my playlist, I was blown away. It's very soothing, and an easy song to listen to. At first it sounds like "The Postal Service - Such Great Heights" which is great You get more involved and want to hear more The lyrics really reach out, I think need to be louder though I think this is the best song with lyrics on the site Great job Arkimedes!! While the mix is leaning towards the far end of the scale in terms of including the original source, I believe that its execution is a very interesting musical idea. They are obviously the prominent part of the mix, but the synths provide a beautiful body of water for the boat of the lyrics to sail on, to make a sappy metaphor. The repeated no worries, no fears, etc hit home well, especially with headphones, due to the bouncing back and forth from side to side. Overall, the lyrics give the mix a great sense of potential and kinetic energy, which arkimedes uses to his advantage in a most satisfying way. Very enjoyable. The Author Posted December 6, 2007 Share Posted December 6, 2007 I did not know the source material. A couple of weeks ago, this song came on my ipod randomly. My first reaction was: "Uh, is this from the "The Beach" soundtrack?". It sounds so professional, it's a beautiful song. The spoken lyrics work perfectly with the feeling conveyed by the music. Everything sounds so... unique. I could totally picture myself walking around the city at 4 AM with that song filling my head. That's how good the song it, I cannot help my mind from wandering when that song is playing. And I also have a hard time explaining why I love it so much. The song sounds like that clarity you get after a bout of insomnia. Which brings me back to the The Beach soundtrack. This song feels like it should be on that soundtrack. It shares the same surreal feeling there is in the whole CD. This song is great, I love it, and I would love to see more songs of this type on ocremix.
