  1. "Obese yet nimble" exactly. this arrangement is phhhhhat. man, you flipped up the source very nicely. and your electric piano sound is ridiculously perfect (as well as the mixing on everything). yeah, i'm definitely taking notes
  2. and of course i know Level 99. -_- the beard.

I know him, but i don't know him, but i know that i know that he knows me for knowing about him knowing of me knowing him, you know....or, no?

  3. sweet, then before i post it on the FB can i just send it by Stevo's and your way? I'll let you hear it to see what i mean, but i wouldn't mind having dueling vocal growls and moans and shit in it as well. ^_^

  4. ninja'd, i was actually working on the same idea. nevertheless,
  5. lmao, don't worry fam i check my email a bit. my phone broke so I've been going back and forth trying to find "the right one."

    1) dunno if this is the "official" way, but this is how i've been looping my vids:

you just have to edit the timing because if it's not perfect the looping is kind of weird

    2) already working on extending and editing the mix... i added some vocals just for demonstration but i might ask one of the "rockier" folks to sing them for me. i'll try to have it on the fb page tonight or tomorrow morning.

  6. enter: AMV onslaught. seriously though, this is incredibly well done. it's almost like this type of arrangement was just waiting to be done. i'm loving the strings around 2:00, and the vocal thing throughout.
  7. okay okay boss! you should have at least one of the tracks by tonight. I'm going to sit down with it a bit longer because i'm experimenting with different mixing techniques and i don't want to send you a trashy draft that'll make you laugh your mitochondria out.

  8. k, last thing i'll post in here until the next one (maybe). just two short, silly vids i made for your enjoyment about this compo. no offense meant towards anyone, it's just for fun. offtopic: also, Rexy feel free to pm or somebody if you need to talk, but please no more "" posts in this thread.
  9. oh yeah, nice blackmill vibe going on in here. the part at 1:27... niiiiice. i don't like the vocals so much, but i dig everything else.
  10. great band, great song, great remixer, DISSSSGUSSSTING arrangement! i replayed this shiz at least 7 times in a row now. I smiled so big when the bass line and vocals dropped in. this is too good for so many reasons. did you stack your own vocals during the chorus or is that all from the original? yeah, seconding what Mordi said. it's got that perfect oldschool electronic feel to it.
  11. source: soooooooooooo nasty, but i expect nothing less from you. crits/suggestions: Elaborating on what Rockos said on your page, for a beat like this you really need something keeping the beat during the drops/breakdowns. if the listener is bobbing their head throughout the entire mix it's easy to follow the beat, but that bass groove is so heavily syncopated (in a good way) that in some of the drops/breakdowns it has the illusion of switching time meters. it doesn't have to be an annoying cowbell playing on all quarters for the entire song, but i'd suggest having a clap on two and four, and maybe a sixteenth note tambourine thing playing subtly in the background; especially around 0:32, 0:48-0:54, 1:24, 1:38, 1:15. again, it doesn't have to be at every drop/breakdown because i know you often use that fidgety style in your tracks, but you really need to emphasize the downbeat in some of those parts. at 0:56-1:01 the kick drum has some clipping after effects (it's in the intro too, but the phat bass line covers it so it's not an issue anywhere else, just right here since it's exposed). also, throughout the whooooole track i was waiting for the "wake up, wake up, take a zumba" (or whatever the heck she's saying in the original source), or at least the "fresh nutmeg." just something. it's a very basic source, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to throw in some sampled cheesy scifi speech clips at 1:32-1:52. you've got a few vocal things going on already, but it'd be good just to sprinkle a bit more towards the end for variation. top-notch production and a juicy bassline as usual (in my opinion, at least), but if you fix those small things it should be perfect.
  12. just stopping by to say that i absolutely LOVED your Planet Wisp arrangement! I've never heard of you, but you've just earned yourself another follower!

huuuuuge props! that beat was soooooooo sick!

  13. finally a reason to post this. congrats and huge props to Mr. Amphibious! with all love though, i still think that didgeridoo (and Gario's entire mix) was beyond sexy. yeah, you should permaban Syllix. seriously though, i enjoyed it, i think everything was set up fine, and even though myself and some others had a bunch of when-duty-calls IRL issues i still looked forward to hearing everybody's arrangements. You can count me in if there's another throwdown next year. well... this time it technically isn't my song/source, but you'll see. dafuq man. you serious? about the music-forgetting, i mean. head-splitting, pffffft big deal.
  14. update: https://www.box.com/s/1bc69db9a78c6e77c3f9 alright, i think i've got it this time, for realious. @DrumJ8, naw dawg. no need to be modest, you were right on point about my timing. i want to keep the spastic groove but there are parts where it was too chaotic and offbeat, so i took away some of the sprinkles and added more unified rhythmic thingies. @SuperiorX, similar to DrumJ8, listening back through it i think some parts were too busy (even for a listener like me who knows the source well), so hopefully this version gets the idea out there much better. @Rozovian, gaaawd dangit mane, i love those MacGyver-punch-you-in-the-face-with-tubberwear types of compression, especially on snare drums. but i guess i'll have to do without this fetish for once. i revamped a bunch of the samples and re-recorded the bass. also, i've got about 3 dozen more scenarios for the "ending" so let me know if this one is still yucky.
  15. just a heads up man, my phone broke in the cheesiest way possible (it's cracked perfectly in half so i can tell when people are texting or calling me, but i can't reply or use the phone at all). -_-

and my wifi has had some insane lag issues the past few weeks, so i'm sorry if i seem not to respond as much for a while

  16. ha ha ha... will do.

man, ever since i got back in town my wifi has been acting weird, and i'm not the kind of guy who's interested in chilling at McDonald's just to have Internet Service, so I probably won't on much for a bit until i get a replacement wifi card thingy for my lappytop.

buuuut, i'll try to have you a preview of the mixes by this weekend.

  17. yep, i'm sleeping with the lights on tonight. for real though, this is slick. i don't know if you're familiar with the slenderman stuff, but i like how some of the sound effects you have seem to nod towards the sfx you often hear in the fan films (ex., the scratchy/glitchy white noise things whenever he corrupts someone's camera, the incoherent, eerie mumbling, etc.). lmao, i love listening to songs like this because even if you're watching a light-hearted, silly, completely-unrelated-to-horror kind of thing, it will still freak you out. superb job. cool, so we can expect an Amnesia arrangement sometime, yes?
  18. duuuuude, i finally sat down to listen to your SubtletyMAchine album while driving 8+ hours with my brother, and i have got to say man... you sir are a freaking BOSS when it comes to making ruthless bass lines and massive synthpad soundscapes. huge props dawg, keep it up.

  19. i've never actually cried tears, but the endings to Tower of Heaven, Gears of War 3, and Arkham City totally left me speechless and in deep thought several hours after the game play.
  20. ok, i probably laughed out loud at every post in this thread so far. one of the funniest OP's i've read in a while. lmao, hypnotism.
  21. so much good potential here, especially with this particular source. this is a really good arrangement already. in my opinion the main things holding this back is 1) too much use of the sustain pedal (it makes some of the juicy chords get lost and become under appreciated since it's all pretty much heavily blended together). add some more short parts, maybe even a few staccato parts for some emphasis on the change in dynamics and note length. this is entirely up to you to play around with, but i'd say that the only parts that need the sustain pedal are 0:07-0:14, 0:18-0:22, 0:32-0:40, 0:48-0:52 (it would even be nice to do a subtle, gradual crescendo roll thingy right here, i don't know the the technical term for it), 0:52-1:14, 1:20-1:26, 1:32-1:39, 1:42-1:53 (definitely increase the sustain slowly over this period because it'll produce a nice growing effect with the fanfare/march kind of feel to this part), 2:05-2:27, 2:30-2:40 (same as last time, allow the sustain to slowly grow), 2:44-3:01, and of course 3:16 to the end. in my humble opinion, everywhere else would sound immensely better without the sustain and it would bring out the rhythmic emphasis much more. 2) "humanizing." i personally think this is a pain to do with point-and-clicking because having a pianist play/interpret pieces like this seems much easier (to me, at least), but i think FL and some other DAWs have a "Strumming" or "roll" feature or something along that name which allows some of the chords to sound like they're being played slightly individually rather than simultaneously like a robot (ex., compare 0:54 to the strum thing around 1:37). you don't have to roll everything, because that's just unrealistic, but some of the triplet parts during the march around 1:43 sound waaaay too precise and it would make the arrangement sound a bit more fluid and organic if you add slight "humanization." you could probably add a bit of EQ-ing to clear the sound up a bit, but i like the current sound of your piano, i just think that sustain is covering up much of the good parts in this mix. if you'd like you can send me the MIDI file and i could humanize it a bit for your own comparison.
  22. dude, your beats and grooves are getting greedier with every album. you've got that ear-crack production skills perfected. My favorites are track 5 and 10 so far, killer neck-breaking beats right here. i'll be sure to buy it later this week. congrats and huge props to you and GameChops.
  23. brandon/gario you still have yet to make a dirty south gangsta rap arrangement.
  24. yeah, a bit late, but still dropped by to bid you a great and peaceful trip.
